@A Standard Guy if its on his original motherboard it will work, if you bought only face id parts with intention on putting them on another motherboard these will not work, you will lose face ID completely. you cant swap out front cameras or sensors on the screen, without those you have no face ID, there are other methods for repairing it but you need some electronics skills to find out where the real problem is and if its possible fixing.

Note: the bottom battery pull tabs will not work without removing the taptic engine component. You're tempted to try because the opening looks big enough for your tweezers, i know, but consider the fact that the tabs aren't for pulling up, but pulling outwards. Standard fare apple garbage, just trust me it ain't worth risking the delicate af 2 piece battery with your pry after you break the tabs off

Note to everyonw. Face ID will NOT work after you switch the part out for anything but the original. The phone has to be reprogrammed to work with a different Face ID just like with the Touch ID.

Same thing happened to my phone the face id now is not available anymore i dont know what to do? This happened when the ios 12.1 i think automatically updates my phone and frond camera and the face id is not working anymore so a technician replaced the front cam with the original iphone x parts but the face id is not working anymore the apple distributor here in the philippines said that i have to replace the whole phone or replace the wholde display imagine that which is cost 450usd for the display with no assurance if the face id will come back and imagin the amount for just the face id to return i told them thats the only problem the face id why replace the whole phone or replace the whole display when everything seems to be ok i own a 256gb ipX Anyway is anyone here can help me please what to do? can i still bring back the face id? Or i just need to deal with it with out the face id haha thanks

in some cases any of your camera can stop both cameras and your Flash light also if any of the one thing is bad it can be just your rear camera or your front or your flashlight module, very rarely all got damaged at the same time but if you got front/back camera and flashlight all of them tested with new at the same time if it doesn't work that means your original parts are also ok it's a Motherboard issue then

This is BS. This will permanently disable Face ID. The infrared camera cannot be replaced unless it is reprogrammed by Apple.

It is because each front facing camera and face ID unit is paired to the motherboard that was in the phone originally. If you replace the front camera without the motherboard it was paired to from birth, The phone will not have face ID anymore.

Face ID cannot be replaced, it won't work. This problem is most likely caused by a bad dot projector or the motherboard not supplying the correct voltage to the dot projector. If the problem is on the motherboard it can be fixed by an experienced technician however if it is a bad dot projector sensor it cannot be replaced as well.

@@keshavrajput6523 it will not. This is most likely a dot projector problem. Very hard to fix bit fixable. Search on youtube “dot projector repair”.

You have to change the front camera/motherboard (on the frame) to the new frame and it will work

@@ojfly626Been quite a few months but Face ID will only work with the original camera(s) as they are paired specifically to that logic board. Swapping them even for another genuine iPhone X camera from another phone will not work. It's the exact same with Touch ID. Once it's broken, it's typically broken for ever.
