The Amazing Josh they thought they just decided not because they want thinner phone without dealing issues like note 7. So they saw that the optimizations succeeded the others so so they decided not to bother until they need to.
To answer some common questions: 1. The reason I have set the Note 9 to QHD+ resolution is because it can either be FullHD+ or QHD+/ . Seeing as the iPhone XS Max has a resolution far above FullHD+, and can't be adjusted down, I decided to set the Note 9 to its full resolution too - Note 9 battery Life IS much better at 1080p, the equivalent of an extra 20-30 mins in this test 2. All phones in the test have had less than 50 charging cycles, and are all new or close to new with little time for batteries to deteriorate 3. iPhones are running iOS 12, both Android phones running Oreo 4.The Giveaway is free and international
I'm one of you very active and good fan... I love you reviews and videos, even this one. Please you should have added Hawaii p20 pro. God bless bless you. Meanwhile, when are you giving away these phones? Kindly remember me.
Yusuf Shwket No excuses. It still lost against the iPhone competition in the video. End of story. All phones are great anyways. No reasons to argue about phones
@@Racko. it's not an excuse. It's a technical fact. There is a reason why Apple phones have lower resolution than its competitors. They want to "optimise" the battery in order to reduce phone thickness and increase profit margins. But to Apple's credit, their color calibration of their displays is often top notch (no pun intended). But, I'd rather prefer a QHD screen over slightly better battery life. Also, keep in mind that for the price of a single iPhone in some countries, I can buy a OnePlus and a Galaxy Note 9 lol. To add insult to injury, Apple doesn't even provide a fast charger. iPhones would be the best if they weren't to terribly overpriced. No phone is worth 1000+€ I don't care how good it is. That's laptop territory.
It isn't about optimization, Samsung's display resolution is much higher and brighter that wonder how XR gonna perform with the lowest display resolution
Mlordy Samsung Fanboys are always bragging that they got higher resolution screens than IPhone well this is the price they pay for having that. This is the price they pay when no one can notice the difference between a few more pixels on the screen but everyone does notice how a lower capacity battery beats a higher one. The fact is Apple is smart and Samsung is not, Apple understands that more is not always better and Samsung is just the opposite they want to throw every unnecessary thing they can in to their Phones thinking it makes it better well we can clearly see it doesn’t.
Also the battery capacity has an effect on how long per day a phone will last as larger battery capacities will make a smartphone last much longer For example the Hauwei P Smart 2020 has a 3400 Milli Amp Hour battery giving over 25 hours with power saver mode on and ultra power saving mode gives in excess of 60 hours
Nice informative video are this 5 devices are all same brandnew if not of course the ipxs models will last bec they are all legit brandnew, but in everyday use bigger battery still last longer base on my experience iphone devices are the worst battery in mobile phones, my device will last without charging but not an iphone devices! Thats why with that capacity i will not new ipxs devices good specs but battery life sucks and expensive!
balmon d every phone will be Like that after a year because the battery ages it’s not on iPhones only it’s on every smartphone that has lithium ion battery
People are complaining that if you set the resolution of the Note9 to FHD, then it is lower than the other phones making it unfair, but making the resolution to QHD is too high also making it unfair. What you should have done was have 2 Note9's for this test, one set at FHD and the other at QHD and compare it against all the other phones. After the test is done, you should add the times at which the battery depleted together and divide by 2, giving you the average battery life of the Note9. Now that is a fair comparison.
A massive point always ignored is that the samsung power saving mode would outlast the iPhone and other phones by a significant proportion. So in a real life situation the samsung gives options to maximise battery life that other phones just cannot compete with.
Great video! Your battery tests are always🔥! Quite surprised with the XS's battery life btw. Didn't expect it to last longer than the Note 9 or the OnePlus 6!

Note 9 battery degrades too fast. Samsung went with a formulation that improves energy density but not longevity. Not a good formula for phones with sealed in battery but it does make out of box numbers seem impressive.
Paul Grey I rather take better battery life than a Little bit better screen. The pixels are so high in both of these devices That you Really won’t notice big difference..
Not an apple fan at all and would never buy an iPhone however both apple and huawei are so far ahead in terms of battery life probably due to better chips and optimisation it's crazy. My s9 plus is a total joke for battery life compared to when I had the p20 pro. Standby drain on Samsung are just crazy compared to what other android phones are able to achieve.
I don't like Samsung or anything but of course Huawei and iphone will have better battery life since they are making subpar displays with way less resolution and pixel density.
well it has a 4000 mah battery so it did completely crap considering The iphone's have a slightly lower res but did considerably better even with much lower battery capacity
@@puravsolanki7070 The reason the Apple removed it was to make more money... Since apple owns lightning connector, each product has incomings to apple... See jerryrigeverything's vídeo
I’ll make it easier for everyone. CPU performance - Apple, GPU performance (Apple by a LONG shot), battery life - Apple, Ecosystem - Apple, Customer Support - Apple, quality of apps - Apple, water resistance - Apple (Samsung flagships are rated at 30 minutes 1.5 meters, Apple is at 2 meters), camera - debatable, being a walking data collection source and having all your privacy jacked - any Android phone.
@@TunesByAI2024 yeah, but that's a stupid way to look at it. If you're paying $44 a month for the iPhone Xs Max for *24 months*, then when you compare that to the Pocophone, which is $12 a month for those 24 months, there is a major difference. iPhones are Xpensive, no point in denying it
Can't have a charging comparison test cause apple don't include the fast charging brick..... that's an extra 100.00.....wait... what? Apple has fast charging now? WOW! Apple is always really late to the party. We've had wireless charging for many years now
Well...@@pophamlarry you got a point 😂.Why Apple ? Why? 😂Can please provide next time not just a fast and powerful CPU but also include a Fast Charger in the box . We really need fast charger these days. Hooo😧 why?
Wow 😂 Samsung had almost a 1000 mAh lead and still lost 😂 y’all were happy asf when iPhone was losing last year while it had iOS 11 and don’t say galaxy running more pixels had almost 1000 more mAh to compensate
? Dude I don't think you understand how pixels and mAh work. Btw iOS 11 actually barely had any changes so idk why u are talking about iOS 12 like it's some sort of miracle that is completely changed. Btw iPhone was close to OnePlus. Less then 30 minutes difference then a phone that costs £500. Now that's fucking sad. Also new OnePlus is gonna be the winner simple as. Once oneplus6t comes out we will win this whole year simple as. Just like last year. Btw iPhone is a disgrace and I can't believe your backing up a company who asks u to pay £750 for the iPhone XR and the display for it is 480ppi wow the same ppi as the iPhone 4 for £750. What a great company. Also just saying Samsung provides most companies including shitty apple with there screens.... So what does that tell you -_-. Apple is a shit company that talks about premium where it's not. Btw guys their £1500 Apple watch made of sapphire is actually impure. So it costs around half the price of actual sapphire. And sapphire isn't even that expensive since u can get a pure sapphire watch for £300 for Tissot.
Khaled K stfu kid iOS 11 had bad ram management laggy quit apps and horrible battery consumption iOS 12 made it faster better battery no lag smooth don’t talk the talk next time with me
@@marvinsaloomi1595 wtf IT JUST CAME OUT AND YOUR TALKING LIKE ITS NEW. don't fucking chat shit. Also nice of apple they released the iPhone 10 £1000 for a piece of shit iOS 11 till now. What a meme feels bad for you guys. Also it's probably still like that give it 2 or 3 months apple will disappoint everyone like always
@@marvinsaloomi1595 I don't have a Samsung lol I have a OnePlus btw my phone costs less then 100£ then I bought it for after a year. Also the only reason iPhone doesn't ever get cheap is because they just want money. There is no quality . The software and hardware is trash feels bad that you're too stupid to see it.

They're also using resolutions that are 26% and 55% resolutions lower on the Xs Max and Xs respectively. Resolution requires much more processor throughput than a settings increase does.
Note 8- 5hr 21m (last battery test) Iphone Xs Max- 5hr 8m Even without being on the highest resolution the Xs Max still hauls and is super close to a 4000 mAh phone
You guys missed a point : the chip on the Note 9 is a 10 nm chip, So it's less power efficient than the 7nm chip in the Xs. BUT with a bigger battery and the possibility to put the resolution at 1080p, the Note 9 have a better battery life. At full resolution the 7nm chip make the difference.
Sherbok would be interesting to see one where a bunch of iPhone 6 go against each other but they have different iOS version and see what difference the newer iOS actually makes
For those who have problem understanding english. In the first part I said "apart from GOOD optimization" which means Apple is far ahead in optimization than android counterpart for reasons. Giving credit where credit is due.
@@senkosan8515 I am using my S8 here, I have seen it lag twice, one when I was trying to play Fortnite ate medium resolution and 30fps, another when I tdyed to see a 4k 60 fps HDR video in YT
Tomas Sejkora dont lie to yourself, just cause the iphone won doesn't mean anyone's stopping you from getting an android phone people like you always shit on apple whether they do something good or wrong.
The optimization of iOS is mind blowing, I hope android would get to that level one day. I got the note 9 exclusively for the s-pen, plus you get a case, and the fast charger is included (as usual). I might make the switch if a future iPhone comes with a pen
This is a test I was looking forward to see, as many other reviews and specs are subjective but battery life that last the whole day is key to most of us and that iOS 12 optimization coupled with the 7nm processor with 1/3 less of battery size its impressive on the XS. Edit: Im convinced at XS Max and will be taking advantage of the AT&T offer that Buy 1 get 1 w/$700 discount
Just a note: @ 3:37 iPhones were not displaying full screen , also Note 9 has more pixels per inch as some have stated and last while the Max os 6.5 it doesn't have true 6.5 surface area due to a percentage of the screen that is basically a window for face identification and has zero pixels. Great test. Thank you.
I'm in agreement, having the 512GB variant with the SD845. The One Plus had the same processor and performed well despite a much smaller battery. I'm waiting to see what happens when my nephew comes out today to this low signal rural area with his day old Xs Max for a cookout. Apple chip is 7nm and more efficient but those shutdowns are ridiculous. No home button or FPS, it's all face unlock. Unusable here outdoors in the winter.
@@chloesamclutch Yeah. I'm not gonna hate on Apple, but I got a s9+ and yesterday I was outdoor at night and it was crowded as, dark and lots of artificial lights which made my face recognition hard to use even cause I couldn't take my hands in front of my face, I couldn't even move, but I could just unlock it in my pocket and use it carefully, unlike my friend with iPhone X couldn't bring the phone to the face and they had to use the damn pin. It's BORING
Samsung only good for less 1 year after that the phone will start having problems especially in performance I have experienced using 3 Samsung phones but now I using iPhone 6s plus even the secondhand is still running smoothly than my Samsung galaxy s6 phone
Supreme Xenon I like the Note 9 a lot, but your statement on the XS isn’t really fair if you don’t own one currently. All the “gates” this year were tiny things that didn’t really affect many people, could be easily solved, and are most solved by a quick update from Apple already. iPhones always seem to have more problems because 1. content creators like Unbox Therapy go through every little thing they can possibly find and call everything a gate, hoping one of them would get viral so they can earn views (which also earn them money, so I don’t really blame them) 2. If you count by models and not brands, the iPhones outsell everything by a long shot. Even with lower percentage of defected units, the total “number” of defects in iPhones can still end up higher than any other phone, making things sound more serious than they are. (Recently mentioned by MKBHD is his video as well) If other phone models sell as much as iPhones and people put as much effort into nitpicking, there would be gate after gate everywhere.
That means android is not for you. The best phone depends on the type of user. I have an s7 for 2 years now and it still running smoothly. I have this theory that androids are for techie and vice versa.
It will performe even worse. Snapdragon 845 is made for gaming and is not power efficient. And the Snapdragon 845 is also only sold in the USA. The Exynos on the other hand is sold world wide.
In addition to what I mentioned in my first posting, another fair battery endurance test that can be performed is when the screen brightness level is adjusted to the highest setting on ALL the competing phones without the adjustment of the screen resolution. All phones are equipped with screen brightness adjustment, so it would be fair another battery endurance test to be done. In conclusion there should be two tests performed. One test where all phones are in the default settings mode like how they came right out of the box and another endurance test with only the screen brightness adjusted to the highest level on "each" phone. This year isn't done yet and two other major smartphones from LG and Google will be releasing phones between next month and November. Hopefully, along with other devices released this year, a battery endurance test can be done with the one from LG and Google.
Don’t hate the player hate the game and watch the video he said he would stop the test and reboot ALLL phones to make it fair. The screen dims because of high internal temps NOT to save power in this case.
@@cloroxbleach8349 I didn't deny that the iPhone is better because it is. But it's still scummy that they can't even include an adapter or a fast charger with a 1300 phone. You're the idiot for defending this sickening greed.
Fat Max 10$ for a 3rd party one.. maybe Even less , depends where you live. If you can afford a flagship im sure you can buy a charger . And yes , ITS pretty shity that they didnt included one out of the box .
@@kadrix732 So, what you're saying is that out of the box the Note 9 loses, but make your screen blurrier and get an overall worse experience and you can squeeze a few more minutes of battery life in? Lol
Zzsmokeyzzx people who enjoy staring at the sun and frying their eyes.
