II: Nigeria tried merit before and ended up having Igbos in control of EVERY sector (economy, arts, literature, education, the military, science, transport, trade etc, etc). III: Nigeria cannot afford to go back to merit because of the 'risk' that Igbos could get back in control of all sectors. IV: Nigeria cannot improve, because it cannot run a merit-based society. I am surprised at the level of insults on both sides of this discussion, as soon as someone else has another view point, insult comes in. Please this has to change please please, lets have an adult discussion. The Igbos have a right to seek self determination under international law 1.UN Resolution 1514 2 . Under Atlantic Charter 1941 we should also accept that other ethnic groups are also free to ask questions about what that self-determination is, provided that there is no violence. We need to stay away from the insults, let's not start insulting people who think different to us, let's make clear sense with clear points so that people will see where we are coming from , enough of the insults it's distracting us all from having a matured discussion. If and when Biafra comes, Nigeria or all other Nigerian ethnic groups will still be our neighbours and we still need to live with them in peace.
