It is almost uncanny how much valuable information you are able to fit into nine minutes of video for the proper execution of this wonderful waza: from kumikata to shoulder contact to foot placement to hip position. Ippon seoinage is arguably the throw non-judoka recognize best, a spectacular and powerful technique that can be executed with or without a judogi. Another hugely appreciated video. Thank you! 🥋🙏🙂
Thank you so much Jun! To be fair, Riki sensei used most of that night's class to teach ippon-seoi-nage, this is just the most efficient distillation I could come up with. The goal is to create videos that don't waste anyone's time and that will still be useful 100 years from now :)

A great video covering all aspects of ippon seoi nage! I really enjoy sensei’s personal stories as well as ideas for improving technique posture. Excellent execution!
Possibly. We never know what Riki sensei is going to teach, we just have the cameras rolling during class and if he goes into sufficient detail on a technique we don't yet have a video on, then it gets made into a video. Most of the time he'll show us the jujitsu origins of a technique, which would have been done without the judogi. He also shows us lots of grips that don't require the judogi. It'd be nice to film some of the demonstrations with street clothes. But these are traditional judo classes, so we're pretty much always wearing judogis.
