Oh, Only Fools And Horses! What a wonderful show, along with Dad's Army the very pinnacle of British comedy. They don't make 'em like THAT anymore! That door is simply amazing, so old and yet in almost perfect condition! Another brilliant video.
Loved your History Walk though Ipswich, Alice. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful historic churches. Wonderful architecture! A 900 year old door too. We also love your explanation of the history that go with the buildings. No more scoring on Portman Road? Love respectable better! Loved your stroll, Alice. Thanks so much for bringing us along!
Fantastic another Ipswich video! Thanks so much for the series on Ipswich. I was raised there, living nearby now and there so much I never knew about the town.
Hi Alice loved this history walk around with you and especially loved the church in your intro , it was so beautiful and I loved the music you played. Then the 900 year old one too was so lovely. Lovely tour around here with you, really enjoyed it . Interesting about the filming of Fools and Horses too :) Thank you ! ~ Anna
I had a very good friend (Chris Mitchel) who was in, "Only fools and Horses", in episodes, "May the force be with you" and also "To Hull and back". Chris was also in "It ain't half hot mum" and Sadly he is no longer with us.
In the same episode of only fools and horses they filmed a scene at a church where freddy the frog buried his money the church is St marys church next to helmingham Hall. Just outside ipswich. We'll worth going over there to see it. Also have you visited St clements Church behind fore Street pool, Thomas Slade was buried there, he is famous for designing hms victory.
As any fule knoe Alf Ramsey managed the England football team who won the World Cup in 1966. He also managed the Ipswich team who in 61/62 won the First Division, the only one to have won the top league in their first ever season in it. Bobby Robson got the England team to a World Cup semi final. Ipswich is the only club to have produced two England managers. This from a place with a population of 130,000 and who regularly attract crowds of 25-30000 people. Going to Portman Road is like no other ground: it’s like the whole town goes. Ipswich is a real football town.
