A note: there should always be a warning about the flash capacitor whenever anyone's taking apart a camera. Those capacitors can hold a charge for a very long time and can present a serious risk not just for the camera, but also for the person doing the disassembly, as the shock they can deliver could potentially be life-threatening (no joke). It's always best to discharge the capacitor first in a controlled manner (so not shorting it out ;) ) before working on a camera. But well done. I did this back in the day on my old 350D and since that one is ancient now, I'm considering doing this again on a 600D I recently got (kinda unplanned). Live view would be such a great help... :)
More broadband photography. IR filters cut out the IR light band, which just so happens to be where the ionized hydrogen emission lines are. Tl;dr you gather more light and see better reds in your astrophotography
Hi Nevel I got this done provisionally for I reason humidity in the air. I waiter 3 months to get it back as they waited for perfect conditions. Brave move. Good to know that you are up for it. Not allot of people in Southern Africa that can perform this task. Well done !
