IR Repeater-Still use your remote after hiding TV electronics 

This is excellent. Why, oh why didn't I see your video first? It is the only one that answered the question of why won't my new cable box see the remote [that does talk directly to the box] talking through the IR receiver, which was that I hadn't placed the emitter over the IR window [new-to-me concept] of the new cable box, and said how to find said window. And there you go: the remote works via the IR setup!

The explanation was good, but why not complete the setup and show the final result?

I have a Niles msu140 ir main system unit I don't have instructions to it and this video is the only thing it could find about a ir flasher could you help me out with alittle more information on this

Hi, my tv is old. the IR Receiver inside the tv is not working but the remote is working fine. could i buy an external IR receiver, plug it into the tv (not sure which port) and use it with my ir remote? im not sure if this will work because even though the remote will successfully send the signal to the external receiver. How will the receiver tell the tv to execute the command.
