Israel's ground incursion into Lebanon only advanced a short distance before stiff Hezbollah resistance forced a halt. Moreover, Hezbollah missiles continue to pound Haifa, and even sites south of Haifa. Israel has failed to achieve any of its military objectives vis a vis both Hamas and Hezbollah. Given this reality, an attack on Iran appears unwise to say the least. Israel faces a strategic defeat if it goes forward with such an attack. Iran showed on October 1 it can hit any site inside Israel whenever it wants. Imagine a thousand missiles raining fire on Israel! Israel's air defenses are obsolete and hopelessly over-matched. There is no military solution to this conflict. The US must cease blocking the UN Security Council resolutions on Palestine! But for the US veto the UN would have imposed a peace settlement on the region long ago.
