Thank you Capitan. I'm fan of your videos from Iran. I am glad to hear you say the name "persian gulf". And I hope you Americans really understand that we are not your enemies. Our rulers define their existance and ideology by creating a semi-unreal hostility between our nations, but most of the ordinary people don't like or support that. I just want to say we hope to stablish a good and fair relation between our nations as soon as possible.

For smaller countries like Iran, nukes are effectively an "anti-regime-change" weapon, and acting like an unstable war-mongering lunatic also serves that goal, and tempts American leaders into being equally bellicose in return. The Iranian leadership can then play this to their advantage domestically by setting themselves up as the defenders of the nation against foreign aggression.

The Iranians are a very clever people, they probably used one sub to study to see how it is put together, and then through innovation used that acquired knowledge to build this indigenous one.

At 14:20 you mentioned the Caspian Sea as landlocked. Since 1952, the Volga-Don canal has allowed sea travel between the Caspian and Black Seas (and thus out to the oceans). The length and width are well within capabilities, but I believe the locks are very shallow (sailing rivers after all) at 12 feet. I think Iran also has grand plans to construct a over 400 mile canal from the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf, which is shortly behind a suspension bridge to the Moon in their capabilities right now.

I see lots of comments down playing this sub. Even though it took longer for sea trials there it is. The next one will be better and take less time. The learning curve maybe steep on sub technology the fact is they are on the curve and learning. Then one day some ship disappears and everyone are scratching their heads and then you all will be saying ohhh Iran did that? We should not be dismissive and smug. We have no idea how fast they will learn. With 20 on the table I think it shows they are willing and well motivated to learn. This is more like ohhh really let’s watch what they do.

I understand that they are reading the “submarine building for dummies” and doing the DIY submarine thing, but all I can see is a submarine that is sub par in almost every respect to their Russian built 877 kilos. I mean I understand that they are trying to do it themselves and figure it out, I also understand that they are looking to cut costs and that they don’t have a real need for any more large submarines but they should have been able to do a better job. The teething issues they have like with the battery recharging, and with the poor sonar performance should be a non-issue by this point. They have diesel electric subs in their ports that were built by other countries. You’d think they should be able to look at them, and reverse engineer the set up in such a way that, combined with tech support from China, should be able to put a working boat together. But That’s just my $0.02

Rather not. The best thing to do with an enemy submarine is to keep it in service. Subs are massive money pits, despite their utility.

There are ways of increasing the volume without increasing the depth to the keel but with one that is small it can go in shallower waters. It could also be under a mother ship, get positive buoyancy to link & attach from below. Then it could replenish everything.

At 5:00 , don't those torpedo tubes preclude the installation of a front sonar? Also, what goes into the bottom area, shown as empty space? Is that where they would hold the fuel, and then replace it with water as the fuel is used so that they don't become top-heavy? It looks mighty thin there, so it isn't likely pressure hull.

I have nothing to back this up but I doubt their first attempt will be very quiet. My unasked for unqualified opinion is it probably sounds like an underwater marching band. Obviously I have no way of knowing but I would think so.

Type 206 sub might be better comparison than type viic. It might be huge leap forward for Iran, but nothing to be proud when compared with subs built by others. Sub looks like small coastal one fit only for increasing control/threat in Persian gulf.

Sounds like a pretty nice little boat for them. Not a hugely advanced or massively capable one, but one that's good enough to demand some respect, and which, in the right hands and the right environment, could be very dangerous indeed.

If I could get my hands on that sub.... oh, the things I could do with it. But, first, it needs a better Sonar beamformer.
