The iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has died, along with Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, the governor of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province Malek Rahmati and the the head of Raisi’s security team Mehdi Mousavi, other officials and bodyguards, in a helicopter crash as per the state-run IRNA news agency.
The Turkish drone AKINCI01 identified heat source suspected to be helicopter's wreckage carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on May 20. It shared its coordinates with the Iranian authorities. Earlier on May 19, a helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made a rough landing, reported state TV.
The Iranian state media earlier reported that the incident occurred near Jolfa in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed.
It also reported that bad weather was the cause of the crash and was complicating rescue efforts. Earlier, the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s condition was unclear, according to state news reports, which also aired prayers for his safety.
