It's not a surprise if you look at the history of their countries until the regime took over Iran. Both represented Western values in the region, and surveys say that 80%+ of Iranians oppose the regime. Remember that Iran is not a democracy, and its people are under constant terror. Look at the Hijab demonstrations. The regime had killed and arrested as many people needed until they've stopped protesting. Pure terrorism. That's why i can't believe Westerners support Hamas, which is an organization controlled and funded by Iran, like Hizballah in Lebanon. I don't see them protesting for the Christian Lebanese who lost their beautiful country or against Lebanon, who don't allow Palestinians that moved there to even own land or to work in good jobs.

Most are not actually. Only ~40% believe in any religion, less for the younger populations. I have met many bright Iranians who came to Canada for graduate school, not a single one was Muslim nor wanted anything to do with Islam, and most of their friends back home are the same. 50,000 out of 75,000 mosques in Iran are now closed. It's a 99% Muslim country on paper only.

What do you think happens when Persians are overthrown they will lose land. The majority of Iranians are Kurds and Azeris, Persians are a minority in Iran. What do you think happens when it becomes a democratic country. Persians won't even have all the votes, they will lose power. Kurds and Azeri will take land from the Persians. It will benefit the Kurds, just as it did in Iraq.

@@VerbalWarrior162 In Iran different ethnicities have lived with each other with no problem for thousands of years. This is something unique about Iranian culture as a whole. There are separatist movements as well, but most people from those regions want to be a part of Iran, and see those groups as terrorist organizations, as they are. I am not worried about them.
