With the announcement of new, harsher measures to enforce laws requiring women to wear the Islamic headscarf, Iranian police have threatened to crack down on Iranian women. Over months of protest and unrest, these rules have been eschewed by Iranians opposed to the regime. But now, agents are refusing service to unveiled women in public transportation, banks or airports. Our Observers in Iran, however, are unphased by the crackdown, claiming that it is just propaganda meant to shore up support for the regime.
