It will take at least another 5 years to get to the quantity we need per year unfortunately but we're making good progress. We fked up by gutting our construction sector.
@@HiddenMan_ that's not our issue, our issue was destroying our construction industry after the financial crash and it's only recently recovering. In Ireland it's actually far cheaper to build lower density buildings. Dublin is different because the land is so expensive so there is a proposal in the council to build 25 stories or even more. That can be done in pockets without ruining the skyline. Most in Dublin are 7 or 8 stories. It might actually surprise some but destroying our residential construction sector was by design to get the value of property back up to where it was before the financial crash. This is to stabilize the banks and the assets on their books. Sick isn't it 🤦♂️ problem is they went too far and it's taking much longer than they thought to get construction going again. We're 4 or 5 years behind and immigration has been higher than expected too. Pandemic obviously didn't help either.
My dad left Ireland when it was poor and came to America. Today me, his son is a software engineer that works for a Dublin, Ireland based tech company. Amazing how things change.
@@timlinator it's fantastic I'm thinking Americans wanted to makes us their state a few years ago... offcourse that was not going to happen lol..... but now everything the USA does affects Ireland... so you have to deep think 😂 its not all low tax and a educated workforce ha
@@Irish780 They want to make everyone a state probably starting with Canada but having family in both Canada and Ireland I would say are you crazy? USA is pretty fecked up. If anything I would support California independence or moving to Ireland.
@@Irish780 Ireland should remain in the EU but leverage its relationship with US to be a bridge between the two especially now that UK has left the EU.
To obtain financial freedom, one must either be a business owner, an investor or both, generating passive income, particularly on a weekly and monthly basis. That's the key to living a financially stable life. This trick has never failed. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life and put this basis to work and practice. Jessica Darrell have been a great manager, mentor and guide. Her support and advice has helped shaped my crypto trading career.
How does this whole crypto thing works I'm interested in it and willing and ready to invest heavily but I need an assistant to properly guide me through on how to make a good startup and be successful in it without making mistakes
The underground needs to run from the airport to the city but very difficult to complete with todays health and safety standards and specifications. Should have been done years ago when rules weren’t as strict. It could take 15 years to do this
Multiply Bullenswood & Palmerstown by 100 . Connect back the Foynes railway . Metrolink seems to be a non starter or very little activity happening , also an East-West (Heuston -Connolly via south city ) connector on the railway in Dublin should be a priority. Maybe Baldonnell has out lived it's usefulness & could be redeveloped & new state of art facilities could be developed in Gormanstown along with an upgrade of our own Air Corp !
The Metro should have continued south past Charlemont, Harold's Cross, KCR, Knocklyon, Ballyboden and Firhouse/Ballycullen all missing a mass transit, they could even split the rail at firhouse to join up with Red Luas at Tallaght via the Stadium and the Green Line at Dundrum via Rathfarnham/Nutgrove. The planning committee really baffle me with the short sightedness, now is the best time to massively invest in capital expenditure for the country
You missed the recent revelation (in widespread news reports two weeks ago) that Ireland, unlike other countries, will experience cooler summers due to the reduction in influence of the warm Gulf Stream.
Interesting dialogue but you could produce a significantly Better video if you actually used more than a few seconds of Actual Irish Video! Your video montage ranged from England, Scotland, Wales, USA, another a dozen other countries... There is more than sufficient 'stock' video of Ireland you could have used...
Forgot to mention rosslare europort expansion and redevelopment abd the motorway linking to it with new access road this to me is biggest project well that and the underground railway which will never happen in our lifetimes (hopefully wrong )but this is Ireland !!!
These New Projects which is going to happen in years to come. Well what's not Mentioned. Some New Underwater Tunnels from Ireland to Great Britain or from Ireland to France. Despitr they did Mension the New Railways for the future. And the All New Hyperloop system in the future as well.
Liverpool metro only has four underground stations not great for a system that started over a century ago london has hundreds of underground stations as a betting man i wouldnt bet any money on Dublin getting its much needed metro any time soon
@@AnthonyMcRedmond-Vg2ry but it's metro is very extensive regardless of4 underground stations. Dublin can't even claim that. London is also 15 x larger than Liverpool
He also forgot the major Foynes port development and accompanying motorway extension from Limerick city to Foynes. Also the creation of the new town in County Louth, and the reopening of many closed railway lines as well as introducing new ones. The inclusion of residential building projects seems bizarre.
Dublin is tech capital of Europe though The metro line needs to be built yesterday thank God they’re finally doing it. That will be a game changer in the growth of Dublin and getting people out of their cars and into public transportation. Connecting to Frances electrical grid will be spectacular. I strongly support all of the other projects also.
Ireland should have its one nuclear power option so that we can be truly energy independent. As for the west not getting proper broadband services in 2022, that’s just a joke. Eircom had great “plans” to connect the entire country. Never happened though
@@Modestasgailius you realize every international tech company has thier EU headquarters in Ireland. Several reasons for this. Access to the EU, English-speaking country, reasonable corporate tax rates young educated Population. Google just committed to another $2 billion i Investment It depends on what your company is looking to do there is a robust tech start up Environment. Bigger it doesn’t necessarily mean better it just means different it’s about your needs and wants
The plantation of Ireland is currently happening, and it is not a good thing, taking the best from other countries is a new form of slavery, their countries will be at a loss from their abscence.
Mega is a bit much - we’re only a small country. Aren’t we very quick to put down our own. All Democratic countries have red tape and corruption and nothing gets done on time. Overall, Ireland is playing a smart game by focusing on high value financial services, software, pharmaceuticals, microchips etc. Most countries have no strategy at all. The UK comes to mind.
Yes the UK is bucking the worldwide trend in mega development by spiraling deeper into decay and poverty, with investment diminishing while Ireland and other countries are flourishing into the future. It will soon look like a relic of a bygone age..... like its endless outdated and undemocratic monarchy celebrations. Bizarre beyond belief!
Talking about Mega Projects in Ireland for the future. What hasn't been Mentioned. They haven't talked about a Underwater Tunnel from Ireland to parts of Great Britain and France. That's instead of Flying. Now don't forget. Not everybody likes Flying. And don't forget not everybody likes Sailing on a Boat neither. Like for example. Somebody I use to know. She didn't like Flying because she gets scared of Heights. And she didn't like Sailing on Boats neither because she would get scared of sinking in the Sea. So will they Build plenty of Underwater Tunnels for the Railways in Ireland in the future?
love it . I learned a lot . I am from Ireland and I didn't even know so many future development is happening . I love the perspective u bring . I think you take for granted how the world is changing for good instead of focusing on bad .
@@Irish780 Same thing happened in San Francisco near Silicon Valley. Tech companies caused housing costs to explode. I see a lot of parallels between SF/Silicon Valley and Dublin. Big tech brings big money but causes costs of everything especially housing to go up. I think there needs to be caps on real estate investors. Housing should be a right not a commodity.
Imformational video, but most footage shown in this video is from different countries and different projects which makes the video unrealistic or a different expectation
We’ve heard this all before. Maybe 4 or 5 times. In the meantime the rest of Europe strides ahead of us. Even the poorer nations have far better infrastructure.
Yeah, plans are one thing, actions are another. I've been here all my life and the Irish government loves to talk about big projects, but rarely implements them. For example the Dublin underground was talked about decades ago, and still there is no progress beyond "plans".
@@LeMerch But metro projects got done elsewhere! If it had been done on borrowings when it was first mooted, It would already have been in operation forquite some time and any borrowings would have been paid back. That's how it was done in Madrid. Nothing entrepreneurial about Irish governments. As matters stand, Dublin is probably the only capital city in Europe that does not have a fast rail link into the city. It was first mooted when I was a much younger man. Now I am 79. I really don't expect to see it in my lifetime.
It has passed plans stage. It’s the first time that’s happened and once that was committed there’s no stopping because they will be sued and could cost the government billions. We are finally getting the metro
I think you should have talked about the Limerick Shannon metropolitan area transport system, where they plan to completely rebuild the transport in the Limerick metropolitan area from the ground up
I live in Ireland, I'm a contruction engineer. People stay here only for the money, there is no services, no quality and a lot of taxes. Ireland is "good" now just to save money (if you are an high young profile), you save money and after you leave.
Eh. Thank you for that insightful analysis. There is a housing shortage in Ireland which is the number one problem. But it will be resolved. There has been billions of euros of FDI that have flowed into the country over the last 3 decades. But services have not kept pace. Other countries in Europe for example have had money for decades longer so we are playing catch-up. If the billions that are being taken in for the next few years are used correctly bottlenecks in the economy will be removed and we will continue to thrive. You may be a foreign worker and have no attachment to the country other than earning money which is fine. Some people will be in that position. For the people of Ireland however we don’t have to look too far back to when the country was in the doldrums with mass emigration and the population falling to just 2.8m in 1961. It has almost doubled since then and is growing fast. We are on the right path even if many in government and planning need to get their fingers out.
This little project in Leixlip appears to have slipped through:from the Independent March 2022: Today, our CEO Pat Gelsinger confirmed that a further €12 billion will be invested in Fab 34 between now and the end of 2023. This brings the total investment in Fab 34 to €17 billion and our total investment in Ireland to more than €30 billion.” Mr Sinnott said that over 5,000 jobs have been created on the Fab 34 project over the last three years.
Well, this is all kinds of sad. None of these things will productively come to fruition or on time. And all are based on the priority and the assumption of endless growth and consumption .
The electricity interconnectors will happen. And metro North will happen but possibly late. The housing developments mentioned seem like a random couple of modestly sized projects. No idea how or why they turned up on this list.
