Greyhounds are one of the fastest animals in the planet and in 1876 the Welsh realised this, but it was not until 1910’s that the Americans took it to the next level and eventually it became an official sport, when in 1919, Smith opened the first professional dog-racing track with stands in Emeryville, California.

@May Lee, It isn't cruel at all. Greyhounds are having a blast running around chasing that lure. It's a game for them. They are happiest when it's race day and they get to race. If they didn't love it, they wouldn't do it, it's as simple as that. You can't force them to chase. If they have no desire to chase, they won't. Those that have no interest go into adoption and get adopted.

No, they dont enjoy it.. People keep them in kennel all life and when they cant race, they go to pound.

@@SvatuJuriCjay Yes, greyhounds do enjoy racing. They love to race each other. It's a game for them. If they didn't enjoy it, they wouldn't do it. You can't force a greyhound to race. They race because they love it. They live in big kennels and eat and sleep in their rates. They are not crated all the time. They wouldn't be able to race if they were. When they are done with their racing career, they don't go to pounds, they go to adoption groups and foster homes and get adopted.

@Sergio Torres, How are they suffering? They are racing each other and loving it. They get the best care. They have to have good care to be able to stay healthy and happy to race. You can't put an abused or neglected greyhound on the track and expect him to race. That's just stupid.
