i dont know why, but ferrari tends to do revenge on their drivers and prevents them for winning (opposite to williams who sack their champions, claiming that is not about the driver, is about the car). is in their nature. they did it to lauda (1977, for abandoning 1976 last race), they did it to prost (1991, for criticism), apparently to irvine (1999), for sure to kimi (2008, wanted massa champion for some brazilian bank's money). similar strange decision were taken against leclerc (2022, after he criticized the team) , by doing a lot of stupid decisions in term of strategy and pitstops. but you know, karma is there. ferrari didnt won the titles from 2007-2008. even when they had a chance, karma got max verstappen in vettel's way (silverstone, singapore). regarding irvine, he wasnt at the same level as michael, and probable mid-season got into a new contract argue. we will never know

Schumi fanboys always claim that Ferrari wasn't the best car in 1999. Right. Wrong. Because the car was so good it was why a driver like Irvine was in the championship battle in the first place. And McLaren did their best to ruin Mika's season (DC colliding him in Austria, etc). McLaren was the best car in 1998 and Ferrari was definitely the best car in 2nd half of 1999 and 2000. Cheers.

Eddie Irvine should’ve won the 1999 world championship. Ferrari screwed him over. I admittedly wonder if the pit stop error was intentional so Ferrari’s main boy Michael Schumacher could be the first champion since Jody Scheckter.
