I do think Lydia rightfully won, but I also think that Irene did amazing. I think Irene is a great singer and has the potential to blow Lydia out of the water, but the song choice wasn't great for her (either of them, really), and it sounded like she was trying too hard to outshine Lydia's high notes. I think Irene has a stronger voice and Lydia just has the advantage of a higher voice, so she's able to hit those impressively high notes more easily.
Great analysis, I agree completely. I'm so saddened by the loss of Irene, she definitely deserved to go to the finals and at the very least deserved a steal!
OH MY GOSH THAT WAS SO INTENSE AND INCREDIBLE!! If Irene wasn't stolen, then there's something really wrong with the other judges! To be honest, I think it, if Irene isn't stolen, that this was a bad pairing because they both deserve to get through!
Oh no, what were the judges thinking? :( It's the second time Will has paired the two best singers, and one of them got eliminated! I was looking forwards to this battle, but now that not both got through I got really mad! Irene and Lydia were my favourites from team Will... I love Lydia, so I'm happy she got through, but I think both deserved to get through |:
They certainly raised the roof awesome voices #IreneAlanoRhodes #LydiaLucy both strong but love all the other stuff #Lydia does too look forward to more #TeamWill
Well, here we are at last in the battles, and I think I can say that the technical problems that seemed to infect the blinds have evaporated somewhere along the way. Irene and Lydia got things off to a great start. There was always the danger that this would end up in a shriek-off, but aside from one or two moments the two voices worked quite well together and both ladies are wonderful singers. I thought Irene did a slightly better job, but in terms of being a potential winner, I think Will was right to choose Lydia, because when she got up to her working pitch she was very good indeed.
I thought Irene looked very upset while performing, was there any backstage drama that they showed before the battle? (like georgia and leverne from series 3)
I looked forward to your comments this season. Same problem from last year: they treat battles as a marathon, players run their own race, unlike the Voice US where they either treat it as a well blended duet or a duel of dancing swords.
Cannot believe Lydia with won this. Irene was amazing. The only reason I can see Lydia winning this is her sheer commercial appeal. Irene's voice was by far superior. Lydia can hit the notes but her tone is so thin and piercing while Irene has a much lusher, richer voice, and she really gave it everything.
+Anne C You obviously didn't see Irene's audition where she went massively out of tune loads of times, while Lydia was flawless. Irene had the edge in the battles but only slightly. Bad song choice from Will
INCREDIBLE BATTLE!!! I doubt anyone will do better than these two! I'm just baffled that anybody stole Irene! Like REALLY???? What's wrong with these coaches!?
Irene wanted this more and should have got the won but Lydia was just as amazing and wasn’t backing down the only way she would have win is because her career would go a lot further than Irene simple because she’s young and related to Cheryl...but I like lydia version... better.
Irene Alano is more greater than Lydia Lucia their voice quality is very different and if we hear to the sound of their attacked to each note it is much far greater beyond that Irene Alano beat it. On high notes and arpeggios Irene Alano hit it more pleasing to the hearers of music far more than Lucy.
I thought Irene blew Lydia out of the water in their battle performance. But it was so obvious even before they started singing that will.i.am would choose Lydia over Irene no matter what. I'm not keen on her and don't like the tone of her voice either.
I thought they were pretty equal, having read some of the comments below. But, let me clarify that not only have I not seen this season, or even episode; living in the US, so I'm not emotionally invested. The older gal, Asian maybe? was slightly stronger, but both were STUNNING.
People need to realise judges need to base the decision on the voice but also, appearance, style, whether their current or not? Lets face it, Lydia has all of that and she is way more current in 2017 than Irene.
To all the hate on here, they are equally as talented but other people have different opinions. I think they could both have very good careers. Will voted for the one he liked best and would sell most albums etc ect. No point putting a person through if you don't think they will win. I liked them both equally as singers.
I honestly thought Irene really did a better job than Lydia. In terms of voice quality and range, Irene could have been a top contender for Will. Lydia's voice was also high but a little too thin for me at least... it was kind of shrieky ..and she did fall off the beat a couple of times in the song.
