This was a sensational gig. One that will lay in the memory for years....Iris ended with this gem. So emotional. Suport from Ana Egge and on bass Liz Draper. What a great night! Thank you to Iris (and Jess and Sophie!)
@@lwr100 No problem. Went last year when the gig was postponed for a few days and had to be moved to the assembly hall where the acoustics were not brilliant. It was still a great show of course but it should be even better at the union chapel. She seemed genuinely taken aback by the warmth of her reception and pledged on the spot to come back. For the first few minutes of the show she was shielded by a giant security guard at the front of the stage until he realised the chances of Iris being hit by a flying zimmer frame were minimal and moved away so as not to spoil view. As you can imagine the audience was pretty rock and roll, as can be inferred by the chat in the gents at the interval when the main topic of conversation was hip replacements 😊
Unless I’m mistaken, I believe that I sold the guitar Iris is playing to Greg Brown around 2010 in St. Paul… She is such a truly fabulous songwriter (of course, so is Greg!), and I just adore her distinctive “little girl” voice… I currently perform her songs, “When My Morning Comes Around” and “Sweet Is The Melody,” and I hope to learn a few more in the future… “Recuerdos a todos!”…
