I don't care if you believe me or not, I'm old enough to argue with people who have a different opinion than mine. But I have to say that the idea behind the program is clever enough and that's why I insisted on solving the problem rather than returning the product. After 14 days of suffering, I managed to solve it with the help of a friend, while their IriScan help/support department failed to help me. The problem was that as an export/output folder I had chosen a folder in the cloud which I recommend to avoid (maybe it was a matter of writing rights). The program in general is good and has its advantages (speed, convenience and features), but the image quality is inferior to a flatbed scanner.

The reflections of ambient light on glossy paper were not eliminated in scanning. With a dark environment and only the scanner LEDs working, will we still have these reflections?

So, after the IRIS scanner headache, I was about to order the CZUR one for $200 and then I checked the book scanning apps on my phone and found one for free that PDFs. It is a little slower than a specialized book scanner would be, but captures the edges of the pages really well, so I won't have to do any cropping. I wish I'd found this before ordering the IRIS scanner. There were a ton and the one I got is vFlat. Hope that helps someone else. I have to scan and distribute about 50 family diaries, but I know I'll use it for more stuff now that I found it.

One thing that is a must for me is that the scanner needs to support Linux. This is what I use. Can I use this scanner with Linux?

With peripheral strong ambient light (around 4000K) and a large enough clear plexiglass, you can do wonders

I bought this and cannot get it to work. Takes forever to find the correct software and install it, and then the software doesn't recognize the device, even though the computer does. I lost an entire day messing with it and trying everything, including trying to use it with 4 different computers (different ages; Windows 7, 10, 11), uninstalling/reinstalling the software and getting the exact same problem with the software on each computer. I spent $450 on it and it's past the 30 days, so I can't return it. All I can do now is warn others not to buy it.
