I do not have any shadows on my pages. Yes, it requires effort to configure the quality accordingly.

I'd bought this last year but returned it. The image quality is iffy (well, it's just a webcam), deskewing is bad, lighting is uneven and produces glare on coated pages, finger masking hardly works on non-white pages and the software crashes frequently, mostly at the end of scanning when the file is supposed to be saved. Wasted tons of time scanning a thick book and the crash wiped all the effort. "Desk 5" would suggest the fifth iteration of a tried, trusted and stable product but it was worse than a prototype. Good luck with this.

I recently purchased this product and cannot understand this criticism. Of course, depending on the location and light incidence, an appropriate setting must be maintained. This quality can be influenced on 2 levels and those who do not get sufficient image quality with 21 MP and a file size of 1.4 MB/page should urgently check the amplifier and camera settings. There are settings concerning brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and much more possible.

Whats the max size? Is it possible to scan a A3 book?

Yes, the Pro model allows to scan up to A3 size ( i.e. total surface of the open book).

I wonder if anyone is using it for sheet music from books or magazines. I have a ton of stuff I'd like to capture and print out.

@@tyutje Me here. Capture loose sheets and other documents from a written bequest with this tool. These fonts must be exposed to as little mechanical action as possible. However, after using it for a few days, I can say that I will be capturing books and making them available as PDFs in the future. The quality for this is sufficient and PDF's have the advantage that you can search them relatively easily by terms.

I don't think so. You have to buy software from the same company which is about 100 dollars or so. Everything is buy buy buy. It should be free. This company, which seems very creative, always produces incomplete software. Either you can edit but you can't export or you can edit certain texts. There always limit you with something. Why is that? To make you buy!! There is always a trick with their products.

Deseo saber si es una herramienta confiable para uso intensivo. ¿Cual es la vida útil del scanner? Alguien podría indicar si ha tenido buenos resultados con él haciendo trabajos de muchos scaneos? Parece un elemento versátil, pero no responden sobre vida útil ni destacan que puedan ser indicados para ese fin

@@Irislink Gracias por su respuesta, pero no se menciona la cantidad total promedio de imagenes posibles de ser digitalizadas durante la vida util. Diez mil imagenes, cien mil, quinientas mil, antes que el producto deba ser reemplazado o reparado? Canon es una industria lider que al momento de la fabricacion de estos productos evalua la cantidad de tornilitos, el metraje del cable de electricidad y de usb, el consumo promedio de energia electrica, etc. Descarto que el dato de vida util de la luz y lente tambien es información cientifica probada. Sólo deberian dejarlo conocer para efectuar una compra efectiva. Si no es para uso intensivo (5000 copias diarias) deberían informarlo.

@@Irislink Y el dato de la vida útil? Ese dato necesitamos los potenciales compradores, no evasivas. Gracias
