/ darrenlynchfolkmusic In this lesson we look at using a modal G chord to work on G major and G minor songs and tunes. #bouzouki #bouzoukilesson / darrenlynchmusic
Thanks Darren these are cracking workshops. This is a new instrument for me, although I play guitar and mandolin, and the string ‘drone’ sound was the reason for picking it up.
Cheers Bruce. Nothing planned at present but will get working on something in the near future. I'll wait for a few suggestions from folks to see what people would like to see covered.
Hi Daren, so here are some suggestions: - Maybe we could take a closer look to accompagnement of "Willy O'Winsbury" or "Follow me up to Carlow" from your CD (which I like very much). - How to bring chord and melody structures together (with a song example) - Alternative chord playing higher up the neck(?) Thanks!
Thanks for your suggestions De Harry. We could look at some of those things. I'll work on putting some practical techniques together in a vid and hopefully incorporate the them in the songs you mention. Cheers, Darren.
Darren Lynch oh wow! Man that is a nice instrument. The kind of Irish bouzouki I think I would enjoy playing more because it’s a guitar body. Love it dude.
Hi mo chara, great videos. Could you give me some advice on buying a bouzouki? I've been reading on forums that the factory models are a bit of a minefield. Any advice on a model in or around the £300 mark? I've seen a few videos showing the amount of alternation some of them need to fit unison strings and I have to admit it's a bit intimidating haha go raibh míle.
I'm sorry but what you are playing is a guitar not an Irish Bouzouki. The Bouzouki looks like a Mandolin with skinny neck and longer. Also sounds much different.
It's a bouzouki guitar Andrew. Some people call it a gazouki. It's strung the same as an Irish bouzouki so this lesson applies to all similar instruments tuned GDAD.
