Happy New Year!
To kick things off, we see 081 light engine absolutely blasting through Park West & Cherry Orchard on the 3rd January 2023
Then we see another light engine, freshly painted locomotive 080, passing through Park West on the 17th January.
On the 1st February, we see retro liveried 071 and 072 top and tailing a set of HOBS, passing Park West (again). This was when top and tailed HOBS were relatively rare to catch in daylight, and it was extra unique to see two consecutively numbered locos on the same train.
Two weeks later, on the 14th February, we see 087 hauling 081 dead in tow passing Park West (yes, again). Failed loco movements are very rare to see, but double headed locos have become increasingly more common with the advent of top and tailed HOBS trains.
On the 17th February, we see 074 passing Park West (again.....) at FULL THROTTLE with a materials train.
On the 22nd February, we see the brand new TRV on its first test run down the Rosslare Line, passing Kilcoole on its return run. This TRV has since been fully commissioned.
On the 4th March, we see an unidentified 201 class loco passing Sallins & Naas, blasting its horn right in front of the camera, resulting in an amazing Doppler effect!
On the 5th March, we see the last ever loco hauled Sperry train with 085 at the helm passing Sallins & Naas, for the last time. This train has since been replaced with the new TRV.
A good while later, on the 17th June, we see the RPSI's first Sea Breeze railtour of the year pulled by 087, passing a foggy and wet Killiney.
Again, a good while later, on the 12th July, we see 085 hauling 074 through Park West, most likely from Portarlington to North Wall.
On the 14th July, we see MPV 790 passing Killiney on weedspray duties.
On the 24th July, we see the extremely rare sight of a 2600 class on the Dublin-Cork mainline, seen passing the Curragh.
On the 12th August, we see 086 rocketing through Park West at full throttle with a wagon transfer to Limerick consisting of 7 pocket wagons. These have since been refurbished and are expected to enter use soon.
8 days later, on the 20th August, we see 074 passing Killiney Bay on the RPSI's second and last Sea Breeze tour of the year, having taken over from failed loco 131.
And finally, on the 22nd August, we see 074 hauling failed loco 131 from Greystones, looking quite sorry for itself.
