I have ONE known Irish ancestor. He was a kid during the 1798 rebellion and he came to America and later Canada to escape the brutal British repression afterwards. I consider it as a badge of honour to wear when I show my love for the Irish Celtic culture and my support for a united 32 county Ireland free from Britain. I work at a museum in Canada that has on display the pre 1801 Union Jack flag that doesn't have the Irish Cross of St. Patrick on it. Knowing that this version would be the flag of Britain when Northern Ireland leaves to unite with the Republic, I look at the flag and always think "someday it will happen".
