I know more then a couple of Irish immigrants who recite it by heart, and with full seriousness. One of which will knock you upside the head if you forget to take your doo rag off. Some of our best American patriot's were from the isle of Eire.
@@SargNickFury okay, but they immigrated and became American, so they should know what our national anthem is lol. I’m not sure that if it were reversed and I was to try singing the Irish national anthem, that I wouldn’t butcher it beyond what Dermot and Colin butchered ours 🤣
If they make a True Irish with 4 Irish alcohols (three Irish Whiskeys and a poitin outta do it), and they *don’t* call it a Four Leaf Clover, I’ll be cross.
I believe the name True American came from a fictional drinking game in a show called New Girl. So, Four Leaf Clover would be the winner, in my opinion!
An American with a grandfather on a boat straight from Roscommon. I never miss this show & I always know it’s liquor time if Colin & Dermot are paired. I think Dermot knows more American history than most young Americans! ❤
@@rkbkirin5975 He named presidents and whatnot in a number of videos. Americans are quite ignorant to things about of their own country. Just because the United States has influence on many things across the world doesn't mean they should be ignorant to things around the world. People in the United Kingdom know a lot about American politics. Most Americans couldn't tell you a damn thing about politics elsewhere.
This has a good informal "long holiday weekend" feel - we get happy drinking, casual Sean cameos, festive backgrounds, drunken singing, and too many good quips to quote. And Dermot even knows the last words of the anthem are "play ball". Well done, happy 4th and slainte everyone!
You have no idea how close you were to an actual American party drink with that "Apple of My Cherry Eye" thing. But you would have to back in American history to about 1810 to 1850 and to the Chesapeake Bay area. It was called "Cherry Bounce". It was, basically homemade cherry brandy and Maryland rye whiskey served in a punch bowl and dispensed with a ladel.
I know cherry bounce as a northern Wisconsin thing where you fill a large jar with local cherries during cherry season, top it with brandy and seal it up and wait until winter to drink it.
@@Ajb259 It probably worked it's way out there when we started to realize how important the Great Lakes region was to become. It took the battles on the Lakes during the War of 1812 to learn that lesson.
I'd like to see you celebrate Bastille Day because I want to hear Irishmen singing the Marseillaise. I'm thinking absinthe would need to be a part of the shots.
Fun fact: though celebrated on different days in different countries, Independence From England is the most celebrated holiday in the world, even more than Christmas.
As an Englishman, I am deeply sad I will never be able to celebrate this, unless I make enough money to buy an abandoned oil rig and then declare independence.
7:59-8:42--As an American, the accuracy of this is AMAZING. No 4th of July barbecue is complete without a drunken attempt at singing the national anthem. Well done, Try Channel!
That's pretty good. I don't think any American RU-vidr could sing part of " A Soldier's Song." I even had to look it up. Props to the try channel.👍 Happy 4th to any Americans. 🎇🎆🇺🇸🎇🎆🇺🇸
To be fair, twice. First, An Irish guy making up a drink for the 4th of July is fair payback for all of our St Pat's stuff. And second, you did a better rendition of our anthem that I've heard from many of my fellow citizens. Well done.
They tried a bunch of Canadian food last week! Although now that I think about it I don't think it was intentional, since they didn't mention July 1 (I don't remember if they did, anyway)
I've never heard of any of these. But as an American, I enjoy listening to people from other countries talking about us favorably. It weirdly makes me feel special, and proud 🇺🇸
"Apple of my cherry pie" would probably have worked if you had put a small amount of grenadine in the bottom to make it a little sweet and accent the cherries. Try it again that way and see how it goes.
Simple solution for the 4th of July shot: add 50/50 vodka and blue curaçao. The problem is your peach schnapps and blue curaçao have the same or very similar specific gravities... To make a liquid heavier, add sugar. To make a liquid lighter, add vodka. You don't have to do both and since the schnapps is sweet enough, do the curaçao.
In northern USA we have another 4th of July shot... Smirnoff red white and berry in a tall shot glass half and half with sprite. You slam it on the table (covered with one hand so it doesn't spill everywhere, but your hand gets sticky so have a washcloth nearby) and then shoot it down it one big gulp, it tastes like a bomb pop popsicle.. hense why we call it a bomb shot! To be truthful it's good with any kind of vodka or rum. Amd when you mix it with sprite the effervescence increases the effectiveness of the liquor and you can get a buzz with a lot less.
It is clear Dermot needs to move to "merica" and invent drinks. Honestly though, the true American 4th of July drink is the cheapest beer available at the corner store. So you need to follow up this shoot with one called the cheapest American beers. I suggest Lonestar, Old Milwaukee 's Best, Schaefer's, and Stroh's.
Around here it would be Rainier Beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Hamm's, or Lucky Lager. Or any of the other "Love in a Canoe" beers like Coors or Budweiser. (i.e. "fucking near water") Back when I was in high school and college we had generic "Beer" brand beer in the white can and black letters. Dunno who made it, but it seems to have disappeared long ago.
At 8:30 - Sung like a couple of true Americans! Great job guys! 🤣 Now go drown those shots in about a troth sized amount of beer and you're good for the day! 😂
Hi, Try guys. Great video. Dermot, nice to see him again. I love watching ur videos. I get a good belly laugh out of it. Thank you, guys 😊 from Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
I am American 🇺🇸…your rendition of our anthem made me laugh. Loved it! And the “apple of my cherry pie” shot:well done! Sounds like something i’ma have to get the ingredients for and drank!
Dermot and Colin - You sang the Star Spangled Banner, in fine tradition of how it is often sung (at a party). You'da fit right in. I'm surprised you knew it so well. You warmed my heart. Yay, and Happy Fourth to you as well.
You boys forgot the applause, at the end of our National anthem. Because we're the only country in the World, that shows NO respect to anything, but BOY are we proud of it!
Dermot and Colin singing in general is hilarious! In their defense, most Muricans can't sing their own national anthem the whole way through. BTW... I am jonesing for more Dermot vs peanut butter stuff videos
Big cheers to Dermot and Colin! I watch this channel all the time, and I have no idea of what the Irish national anthem sounds like.. They did us proud there!
