I bought one of my coworkers who was retiring a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue with a custom engraving. He didn’t crack it open until several years later when one of his military buddies’ kids safely made it home from deployment.
I've always been impressed with Darren's knowledge of alcohol, but when he identified not just the more expensive ones but nailed the actual names of them, I was floored. He needs to be included in every one of these.
Imagine you're an alcohol enthusiast like Darren. Now, the price tag MAY have tipped him off, but he identified the 24 year Teeling's based on REPUTATION ALONE. "This was voted the best single malt whiskey of 2019." That's insane. Hat off to you Darren. Great shoot all around where the alcohol pairings equaled the majesty of the TRYer pairings.
I see this video marking two milestones. •Darren got his (well-deserved) reputation for knowing whiskey, and... •I was convinced from this that Justine Stafford has the single most expressive face on the Internet.

@@FUGP72 Yes I know ... following since before TRY (that other channel F****). Since the JW blue label garnered a big "it's a gift" announcement and the Teeling's didn't, it's reasonable atm to assume they bought it directly.
Dermot and Justine make for a great team under the influence (and without)! They were really feeling it. (I have to get a bottle of Paddy now, if Justine recommends it that much.) - But they're all right, they will never be able to go back now that they have tasted the rich peoples' stuff.... I dunno if you'll know this but beluga vodka is meant to be kept in a freezer before being served. The black logo surrounding the beluga whale turns blue when the bottle is chilled enough for consumption and that's when you're meant to drink it. I wish you'll would have done that before serving it because it makes a massive difference to the taste.

And alcohol dulls your tastebuds so what's your pseudoscientific point? Hot Chocolate or Cold Chocolate Milk. They're both chocolate. These were all outstanding pairings. Clare and Darren both seem like they are realists and pragmatist so they make a natural pairing. Paddy and Dr Sarina are complimentary to each other. If you were out with both at the same time, you could have conversations about C-19, Exercise, Diet, Politics, Sports, and Movies and have well informed conversations on all those subjects. Justine and Dermont are great because I think they genuinely care for each other, and I seem to recall Justine mentioning that when they were here in the US that he really helped her thru a tough time that she was having while here. There was an experiment once done on vodka. If you poor cheap vodka, through a charcoal filter, something like Britta, even the most seasoned vodka tasters couldn't tell what was cheap and what was expensive. The more it was filtered the higher quality they thought it was. So buy cheap, and invest in a vodka Britta.
Yes and no. As somebody who does my own distilling and has tried many, many recipes and techniques, charcoal filtering is the least important factor in my findings. Yeast, alcohol percentage of the wash, tighter cuts while distilling, sugar sources make a difference 100x what filtering does. While charcoal filtering is a thing, it's more of a tik-tok trend than something legit (honestly I don't even bother anymore)

Just for pure production value, you should have replaced the Teeling bottle in the box with a bright light, so when the triers opened the box, their faces could’ve been bathed in a bright golden glow and you could’ve overlaid some angelic choral music. 😁
Paddy, Clisare and Dermot all had the leaning forward in incredulity when they heard about a bottle of liquor worth 670 Euros, but Paddy added the initial rearing back in horror. Sarina and Darren had the whole whispering in horror while covering their mouths. Justine, bless her, acted like Justine.
I once ordered an $80 shot of MaCallan 25-year old Scotch (didn't know it was that expensive so that was fun), but I have to say it was AMAZING. I literally will never forget how great it tasted! Now unbelievably the shot increased to over $300 (a bottle is about $2,700) so way out of my budget but I'll always have the memory 🥲

Heard Darren is a tour guide at Jameson. Makes sense that he could guess the exact whiskey it was. He clearly loves whiskey and was probably just identifying the expensive one based off taste and guessing the exact one based off the price they give him before. I work at a liquor store and is someone told me this is a whiskey at 220 dollars I'd say it's probably Jonny walker blue

It hurt me, when they downed their shots in one go, from a €670 whiskey. And I feel sorry for Martin aswell. That whiskey surely would've been a 20/10.
More expensive usually just means small batch, less filtered, more aged so it usually will be less smooth and more leathery which I love but most people want easy cheap drinking

It is so nice to see Sarina back while she can do videos before returning to the States. I LOVE this video and concept, cheap vs expensive, and would love to see more of the same, it could be applied against so many liquors or other drinks, or even food. Please do more!!!

Worked at Total Wine for around a week and I saw about 15 people come to my register with bottles more expensive than my entire months worth of purchases and I was an alcoholic at the time.

i had the 28. (we are a 10 guys "drinking society", each paying 10% for a tenth of a bottle). it´s bloody good. really. still have a 0.02l bottle left and really struggle to drink it..

I was today years old when I learned Darren doesn’t fuck around with his whiskey or bourbon. I was very impressed that he was spot on with which ones were expensive but he even knew what they were. Good on ya
