I like this because they're trying burgers from places in Ireland. They don't need to try to recreate burgers from American places, or like try to have them shipped or whatever. I think this works better. I don't always need to see them react to American things. As an American it's nice to also be introduced to things from Ireland.

I'd love to try that first one! The last one, (Wayback) is actually an American chain and is awesome. If you ever get a chance, try the build your own burger, cheese and bacon are the only toppings that they charge extra for and you can add whatever you want. The messier the better!

It's true though! My gf is so f-ing cute because she feels comfortable enough to eat normal in front of me. She's 5'1 and 110lbs and will take down a 12oz ribeye and two sides and idk just makes me feel good that she doesnt feel like she has to pretend.

Burgers are truly a magical thing. Burgers were originally meant to be only a takeaway item; designed to be the perfect size and neatness to be eaten anywhere, with your hands, siting or standing, inside or outside. But diners were like, “Let’s make a burger you should only eat sitting down and inside a restaurant. Make it big and messy and meant to be eaten over a plate!” Brilliant!

Many, many years ago (early 1980s?) I read a food critic article about tasting burgers. He said the only way to truly judge a burger is just a plain cheeseburger. All the extras can hide the quality of the meat; be it good or bad. I found it so true; plain cheeseburgers is all I've eaten since.

The first one looked really amazing, but the others just had the usual burger toppings. I like to try different things, like bleu cheese dressing or Swiss cheese and bacon. I've made goober burgers a few times, and they are unique! They're topped with peanut butter and mayonnaise. Pretty tasty and really filling.

I find it really interesting that Ireland has so many places that are "diner-style" burger joints. In the US, at least in the south, "diner-style" isn't really a thing. We just have diners lol.

I'm in socal, and there are celebrity/brand pop-up restaurants for delivery through other large chain kitchens (like buca di beppo). Mr Beast has an over-the-top diner style burger.

Well, restaurants like Chili’s and TGIF all have a burger. Same goes for Applebee’s. Kind of a diner-ish vibe. A chain though. If you want mom and pop diners, you’ve gotta go up north for that. Having said that, the best burgers to be had down in the south are usually from places that specialize in burgers. Where I live in Texas, there are places like snuffer‘s, Burger Island, liberty Burger, burger den and twisted root Burgers all have amazing burgers. You can even choose exotic meats like elk, ostrich, deer and buffalo at some of them. For me, though, my go to is still Whataburger. Nice, big juicy burger. Hits the spot every single time.

Dermot was dead on about the rest going downhill, but in complete fairness that first burger was absolutely next level. I have always wanted to someday go to Japan to try waigu and ramen where they both originate, and Ireland just hit the "want to go to list" for that first burger... it looked that damn good.

I eat steaks medium rare, and consider a well-done steak a crime against humanity. However, for burgers, I do need it cooked medium -- I just really don't like the texture of ground beef cooked any less. 😝

I have a diner less than five minutes from my house that’s been in my town since the late 60s, and none of these burgers have a “diner” aesthetic to them. The Four Friends burger is like a novelty burger that I’d order at a bar & grill; it’s similar to the Jucy Lucy.

Old lady from North Carolina here. Nice thick burger with bacon, onion, tomato,coleslaw,ketchup, mustard and pickles is how many diners serve burgers. Sometimes you can get onion rings, or hot peppers, pepperjack cheese. Many diners have a special burger named for that diner. I want to try that first one.

I fired Whataburger. It's no longer my favorite fast food. They discontinued the jalapeno-cheddar biscuits. Deal breaker, right there.

We actually have a mom and pop burger diner by where I live called petes burger. Great burgers and the fires are always done just right. You can ask for seasoning to sprinkle on the fries too, love that place.

My first job was in a hot dog and burger joint on Oakton avenue in 1991 at age nine. Peel 50 lbs of potatos, stomp them through a wedge cutter soak in lemon water overnight, give yesterday's to the cook go home. Age nine. Skokie Illinois, Northwest suburb of Chicago. These are much fancier burgers than we made, but they all look amazing. I think because its such a novelty there the cooks go the extra mile to be super memorable burgers. I grew up with food from about 80 nations. And ill say this. Every one of those looks delicious!

The best burger I've ever had was at the Yak and Yeti restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was the Kobe Beef Burger grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy mayonnaise, and crispy fries topped with choice of shiitake mushroom and scallion compote or Asian slaw.

We have Wayback Burgers shop here in Eugene, OR, USA and it's now the only place I will get my burger fix. They make it old fashion. Form the patty by hand and grill it on a flat grill. Raw onion finely chopped is my choice, but the sauteed onions are great too! Various types of cheeses to choose from. I just do the single patty build your own option and it's been just under $5.00usd for this choice. No extra charges for the large list of things you can have on it.....now I want one....tomorrow!

The sheer volume of varieties of burgers in the US makes it hard to consider those as "diner" style since they have the odd appearance of fast food. Especially that one in the box, which looked like a designer burger more than a diner style (but that's really splitting hairs, a burger's a burger). I wonder if there's a difference in the cultural concept of what a diner is. We often have the word "greasy spoon" to differentiate between the franchises and the better places to eat. And sometimes they come in packages, especially smaller burgers that you get more than one, but usually a diner style burger comes on a plate, either disposable or not. But post pandemic maybe that's part of their adaptations. Most fast food places and franchise eat ins were originally greasy spoon diners or road side stops. Granted not every one has great burgers, but almost every small town in America does have at least one diner that exists only in that town. When I lived in a town of 500 people, there was a diner. Another offshoot was the drive in eatery places. There used to be one of those in most towns too, but they fell out of fashion. Think of Sonic if you are trying to understand it. My hometown has one that's been run by the same guy since the 50's and it's located in a really terrible spot, but locals know it's there. I like their hamburger steak burger (sometimes called chicken-fried steak, and there is a difference in chicken-fried and country-fried and if you don't know the difference you are probably not a Southerner) but their philly cheese steak has tomatoes on it and I don't like tomatoes but it does have yellow sauce on it instead of that weird white cheese. They dip their onion rings in soft serve ice cream powder and then batter them which gives them a really unique flavor. So in my small hometown there are technically two, and that doesn't include the one that shut down by the health department so growing up we had 3.

Paddy you are 100 percent correct. I'm first generation American born on my Irish mother's side and have had to explain to my friends and co workers that it's Paddy not Patty. Especially on St. Patrick's day. My name is Liam but one of my cousins is named Patrick and he has said the same til he is blue in the face. 😎

Number 1, a proper diner burger is no less than a 1/3 pound patty minimum, number 2 they are juicy, fully loaded and greasy to perfection(never dry ever), number 3 always have a beer and fries(chips) with it when possible.
