Driving N7 from Dublin orbital motorway (M50) to Naas, and then following M7 around Naas. N7 and M7 were, respectively, Ireland's first dual-carriageway road and motorway.

Update on this video as of 2024 The section of M7 between Naas and the M9 has now been widened to 3 lanes each way. There is also now a new junction (9A) and junction 10 has been moved slightly from its old location to the next bridge along.

Makes sense, but I hope when you pull off to the side of the road and of course signal & use a warning triangle,no one will hit you! Regards!

I've been to both of these cities I've been to the heart of Dublin and the East of Limerick Are you going to the same destinations I've been to?

Looks like a great highway but, as an American I don't understand why European Union countries build roads without a shoulder to drive off to incase of an emergency break down? In other words where do you pull off the road? Have a good one!

Most of the road in the video has a proper hard shoulder; the only shoulderless stretch is the one that's U/C (it will probably have one when it's finished). Anyway, bear in mind that in Europe space is a premium and land is very expensive, so narrow shoulders or no shoulders (with occasional SOS bays) is often chosen against building no road at all. In case of a breakdown you must try to find somewhere to get off the road, and if you can't, pull to the side of the road and properly signal your position.

Thanks for video. New country - new experience. How did you feel first time when you had to overtake on the right side?

You get used to it very soon, it only took me a few minutes. I only had one incident: I took a left turn and entered the road in the wrong lane, but luckily I realized it soon and nobody got hurt. Worst problem was the car being right-hand drive -the gear knob is on the left side, but the other controls are not reversed, so you can't change gears and turn your indicator on at the same time.

Roads of Europe (verreme) I have cars with both right-hand and left-hand drive. And when I change one to another after long period, the first time I confuse switches turns and windscreen wipers :). Therefore, I had fears that if I thinking I can go on the wrong side.

autotravelerru It's not easy, but it can happen! You must be more alert than usual.

How long does it take to drive from Dublin to Belfast?
@RoadsofEuropeverreme

According to Google Maps it should take you 1 hour and 42 minutes, which is more or less what it took me :)

Ireland the best country in Europe by far both economically and the road infrastructure is the best by a long shot, now lets leave the EU and we will be even richer financially and rule our own destiny and get out of poor EU before it trys to pull us down with it a second time. 2/12/2014. Irish time 15:30. Tuesday.

I think you're right - they now want us all on bikes - the EU does suck!

@@jasonahbh4880 Well I kind of like the EU more since they put in the Irish Sea Border (Protocol) and we are the closest we've ever been to a United Ireland 🇮🇪. Bring on the border referendum. Tiocfaidh ár lá.
