My drive to work is 10 minutes in my truck....for some reason its 45 minutes on my 1200. 😎 always a treat to ride some extra commuting miles.

I love my Iron 1200. It's great for both new and seasoned riders, understanding its limitations. There's so many aftermarket parts available, different ways to customize it and make it yours. If it fits your lifestyle and budget, it is definitely worth your serious consideration. Enjoy and ride safe!

Yup, did an oil and filter change and took'er out for a 45-mile spin, local alternate routes it was very nice, that bike has more balls than a pawn shop window, lotsa get up an go, 45 on a smaller bike seems more fun than on my wide glide, but the WG is awesome on the superslab for long hi-way rides. Gonna get throttle an clutch cables greased this week and a new spring for the jiffy stand.

Hello Jay V, Yup it is a freaking fun bike to ride, I have a 91 XLH 1200 runs great 2 plugs per cylinder, S&S shorty carb, classic teardrop air cleaner, forward controls, gets ur legs out 4 long rides.. she is good on the superslab but prefers main regular roads like 301, 41' 60 down in central FL, up in Mass. now so its rte 1 138, 6A, 105 ,44 those main roads you see a lot more than just trees and different speed limits, much better on the engine. I do wish the bike had a 6th gear or a higher 5th, my tach sez 3,000 when I'm doing 60.

I would like to thank you for this amazing video riding in city and highway and honest review of iron 1200. I have no experience riding motorcycles and never owned one although I signed up for motorcycle training course and iron 1200 might be the very first bike to own especially after watching your video, seriously thanks bud you did help me out

Appreciate it brother!! Glad it gave you some info. I will be posting a how to ride video series soon, how to ride in traffic, city, highway etc. But for sure always recommend the classes! Don't let people tell you what bike you should get jump on them and see what feels best for you. Best of luck out there

I love my iron 1200. Upgrades 2up seat, passenger pegs, Memphis Shades Gauntlet, after market slipon mufflers, cobra detachable back rest, progressive rear shocks. Nice ride man I can't handle the cold anymore hurts my legs getting old I guess.

Nice! I have an after market seat for 2up as well! But for sure prefer the solo ride on it! I plan on changing the pegs from mids to forwards, getting a saddlemen seat, Memphis Shades, and possibly some larger z bars or apes. I get my hands that give me the most to complain in the cold. Ride safe brother!

This was a blast from the past. I live and work in MD and will take my first ride on the bike to work soon. But I used to live in SATX on those streets you went through... a bit further in the NW side of town off I-10. It would be awesome to have the bike and ride around town there. I have an 08 1200 nightster and i love it. Vance and Hines pipes, Screaming eagle air cleaner was on it when i bought it. I put 12" apes on it and a company called Led Sled makes floor boards for sportys that i put on. I love em cause it gives me three different leg/feet positions which is nice for long rides. I got tired of my feet wanting to slip off my forward pegs at higher speeds. Next i need to upgrade my suspension. It rides like a damn hard tail with the shitty stock suspension.

That looks like a 3 gal tank. much better than the 2.25 gal p-nut tank. Every1 asked u gonna keep the Sporty now that ya got the wide glide I call wandering Gerty. I said YUP um keeping the Sporty,a 1991 XLH 1200. I bought her in FL over at the New Port Richie HD and put 1,000s of miles on her riding the back roads. I like that changing oil is easy on this bike, a hose under the battery tray, unloosen clamp, put vice grips on it put end into a gallon milk jug remove vice grips, a shallow tin foil baking pan under the oil filter...TX Moto, wishing u thousands of great and safe miles on ur bike. u ever use a battery tender? things are freakin awsome.

@@txmoto1991 If you have electronics on that bike, it might be good for you to use a battery tender. The only thing I have on my 91 is the ignition. I got 7 years of a battery using the tender that cost me 40$ there is no other drain on my bike with the key out and ig. is off.

Good video. Just got my Iron 1200. Downsized from a Street Glide Special loosing 300lbs😊. Had the SGS for long distance runs. But at my age 72, was going to get rid of it, but my wife actually said I’d be miserable without 2 wheels so get something smaller. So I did. And couldn’t be happier. But the stock pipes were the 1st thing to go. Got some Cobras on it now and it sounds and breathes better. Had a tank bang from my SGS which I use for my stuff. Going backwards is definitely ok

I bought this bike to get an easier bike to learn to ride with that allowed for some newbie mistakes, etc, easier to control, easier to pick up if I dropped it, easier to do DIY on.
