Just went to the Roughneck Harley Davidson store in longview texas. Spoke with Jacob (helluva guy) and just got this 2020 iron xl1200ns as my first bike!
This is my first bike. I bought it used at cowboys here in San Antonio. I'm the third owner, but I absolutely love my bike. It didn't have the mini apes but I put outlaw z bars and it feels amazing.
First off I love Your channel . I really like that you have got MS.Blockhead into it ! I have a 2005 1200C that I bought new , still carb. It sat unriden do to work -wife until last year 2018. I took it down to my local shop and had the carb replaced ,Screaming Eagle intake and V&H shortshots. The carb was jetted for over 7000 ft in the rockies were I spend most of my time now . Drag specialties happend to be there and dynoed it with 95 hp rear wheel @ 6200 Rpm ! OH and New tires brakes and 5000 mile service w/all Amsoil . 3200 miles on bike know! Keep the vids coming ! Also renewed my HOG membership! Being single @ 44 SUCKS !
Dude I just found this channel a few days ago and I'm a soon to be first time rider. Your videos are seriously the most helpful I've found and I love that you're from Orlando cause so was I (in Ohio now)! Thank you a ton for all the content, all of your beginner videos and how-to's are helping a ton. Can't wait to enjoy more of you and your girl's content! ♥
I just caught a great deal on a 2013 iron 883. Man, I really have fallen in love with the irons! Whether it's an 883 like mine, or a 2018/2019 like my buddy has....they're just so natural feeling.
As with every Harley video I dig the look and the sound but then I notice the rider scraping on an incredibly mild turn and I wish HD would make something with more clearance/lean angle.
Amazing video man, I was really curious about this bike glad you did this! I feel like this is a no brainer for anyone in the market for a sportster, especially if it's so close in price to the og iron. They definitely did a great job with this, best release they've had in a while. In addition to my dyna I also ride an 1988 883, curious to test ride one of these new ones myself and see the difference. I also didn't know about that one year trade in deal, that's pretty sweet! Good stuff man ride safe out there! 🗽⚡️
Love the new 1200 can’t wait to test ride seriously think of trading my street bob for one I’ve always had a sportster and now miss it so bad thanks for test ride video very helpful
love the irons. wanted one. but once i saw that they scrape at 1/3 the angle of my street rod. I think ill wait for the street fighter. I love Harley but damn. scraping on a mediocre turn should be unacceptable.
Harley keeps repeating itself. As the guy said " a lot like Nightster". People are bored of it without any real improvements. we need better fuel performance, 6 speed, ABS, traction control........
Walktheline I had a Bassani on my XG500 and although the exhaust note was cool the look was not so much. The V&H short shot staggered in ceramic black would look pretty cool. Or left field the Python throwback they are wrapped with a chrome tip. They look cool but not idea the note. I guess the school is out till we all get our hands on one and do our own thing. Happy days as usual.
scott rubie I will never buy a Vance and Hines product again as their own customer service rep stated they build exhausts for aesthetics and sound, not performance.
Walktheline didn't know that thanks for the share man. Well worth knowing. Maybe a Bassani pro street. Nothing in chrome. Needs to be black. Powdercoating after the fact is a pain in the arse.
scott rubie I ordered a chrome road rage and bought the chrome heat shields. Stripped headers had them ceramic coated, installed chrome heat shields looked badass.
Do ya think with a forward controls kit would make the issue you mentioned about the seat...feeling like you're sitting on the back edge...would minimize this? Also....the Twisted Cherry color is pretty sick!!
See, I prefer the chunkier front end and the fork on the 48 special, but that tank is just so tiny. Not that I'm in any position to purchase right now, but a guy gotta stare!
I loved my 48 but wanted something with more power yet still having a classic look. New Milwaukee 8 is super smooth rides more like a sports bike with the mono shock. I do wish it vibrated a bit more but on long rides it gets tiring. Overall I love the new soft tails.
Nah, I got the 2010 48 we bought used, low mileage and awesome condition in a private sale for cheap. Lots of great deals you can find on used Sportsters out there. If I had to pick one of these? I'd probably go with the Iron 1200 and throw forward controls on it. Just felt a little better, slightly more nimble b/c of the skinnier front tire, and I like the blacked out look to it.
I'm having trouble choosing between a Roadster 1200 or an Iron 1200, this will be my first bike and daily rider, which style would serve better as a daily rider?
Noice looking bike, needs a 4.5-5 gallon tank. Some legs is a good thing, last all week, or a nice weekend trip without stopping to fillup every 120 miles.
Test rode the Triumph Speedmaster and T120, both 1200's..they both get super warm, and that fan kicks on and it's a knee scorcher!!! I live in AZ, so could you find a way to discuss the possible deal breaker of excessive heat. Picture 105 degrees, sun on you like stink on $πit and you get caught up in rush hour..no lane splitting allowed. Just an aspect I see a lot of reviewers overlook.
Tell us how you did it, if she lets you get one, trying to convince mine of the same, I've got a Bandit 1200, but bikes are like chips, you can't have just one.
I know it´s a dark time but I loved so much the color. Also, I feel like this is the farewell edition to the sportster as we know it. I bet we will se a new frame as we did on the softail line within the next year.
Definitely needs an aftermarket exhaust, preferably a chrome staggered dual setup. It should sound like a Harley, and it needs some chrome to offset all that black.
Having owned many sports and dynas, the sport is my favorite bike.Lets face it no matter what brand you buy, aftermarket is necessary.Never owned an 883 but they are far less powerful than the 1200,due to much smaller valves and displacement.Good video man.
Yo Blockhead I test rode one today and they sold me on it. Didn’t think I would like the fairing but it actually helped with the wind. It will definitely get up and go without much effort.
I've got a 19 iron and some others.....Zuki, and my latest Kaw have the trigger pull passing lights, thought this is greatest thing.......now I've got to check out this press and hold down for passing lights on my 19 iron and my other 3 Harleys...........flashing headlight is a good thing, but I'll have to use it several times to burn it into my brain I wondered about stock seat, mine has saddlemen stepup and it sucks on a sportster....I've had saddlemen seats that are great, but not this one a sportster.....I'm 5'10.5" I think trying to ride on the back of the seat isn't so much your height but being use to forward controls and trying to stretch out a bit more.......I've got 1 with forward controls (WideGlide).....the Kaw controls are straight down, the Vrod and XR are behind straight down.....Iron is like the 90's Zuki Intruder, halfway between straight down and forward, it will take some getting use to, highway pegs would be real handy The 2019 1200 Iron has been the fastest for me to determine what I need to do to it
Honestly didn't think I would like these based on the original photos, but after looking at them a bit more they definitely bring something to the sportster lineup that I want to see more of.
First I thought maybe they were trying to force people to sit in the seat correctly....... but then I noticed it is mid controls........probably why you feel scrunched up.....I'm used to 883/1200 customs and wide glide, all forward controls For those thinking it needs another gear.........yes if you shift into 5th at 50mph yoou will always feel as there should be another gear......or 2 If you run up to cruising speed in 4th, then shift into 5th, you will never feel like it needs another gear if if if they put a tach on it then you'd know for sure I run my wide glide up to cruising speed in 4th then shift to 5th.....then remember there is a 6th That is not as good looking as the 883 iron......handlebars, hate the look, my wide glide has mini-apes....I think about changing them but then I go for a ride and they're perfect
any one who ever owned one of those AMF 250 singles is not gonna appreciate that new nostalgic colour scheme bro trust me that shit was only any good for picking the pins up and returning your balls 🤣🤣🤣
well you have to pay the dealer fee again. Which I hate about Harley, I have to pay you a fee for you selling me a bike that your going to make money on...But I did get the Iron 48, changed headlight added Vanse and Hines pipes and a different seat. My biggest annoyance is the small tank. But it is a good bike but this is my first. Out of Lakeland,Fl Harley.
If you want more power its cheap to put in a set of Andrews ev23 camms and it makes a huge difference in power straight threw the rpm range, i did it to my 04 1200 xl custom and i am still very happy snd ive had some big bikes
Super Dope bike! I think part of the appeal, or at least what appealed to me, about the Iron 883 is the tank and color scheme. I love that low profile look of the dark grey and the black emblem. I currently have a Black '06 883R, and I thought all of the colors and checkers on the tank were a little much at first, and I wanted to change my tank out for an Iron tank. After I found out how few of the "Rs" there are in the US, I decided to keep it how it was. Anyways, love your channel, and your reviews! That seat looks awesome, hopefully it will fit on my 06 sportster!
Took delivery of the Iron 1200 today. Traded a 2015 Bonnie for it. First Harley for me. Absolutely love the riding position on this bike , so comfortable. Power delivery is beautiful. Rode back on the Motorway and ample power for motorway cruising. Suspension is OK. The braking on the bonnie was better but that may just take getting used to.
Why do you ride with an escort? That defeats the purpose of this video. Do they think you're going to steal it? Plus, this should be done at a closed track environment with at least 6 cameras at various points.
love the look. Plan on keeping my 100 year anniversary sportster and getting something like this aw well. LOVE Sportsters!! I only ride around the city.
@legend of Awww Sheet ! nope. Life happened. Moved to a place with mountains. Now looking at something for longer trips. Still have my Sportster and it really struggles on the inclines!!
Digging the drone footage, BLOCKHEAD. I was in a drone phase for a while, but just reverted back to slinging the DSLR with me everywhere. Thanks for the review. Oh, and thank you for the sticker. It is hanging in my garage/lab.
Had the DSLR in the pack as well but was pressed for time, dealer was closing down. Drone night shots are always cool! Glad you're putting the sticker to good use ;)
Just bought mine Friday. I wish they had put a gas gauge on it instead of a clock and you can't keep up with your trip miles and the gear position at the same time. Getting about 50 mpg right now. Looking to get a tuner. Already ordered a seat and tilted the apes more forward so I wont be sitting directly on my tail bone. Shocks a little stiff right now. I'm sure they will soften up a little more with use. I've got them set at the top dot since I'm only 165 lbs. Oh I already removed the bikini faring. Didn't like the look.
I have a 2021 XL Iron 1200. I am having the tank modified to hold 5 gals. I am working on some other upgrades and I am going to ride from Dallas TX to Sturgis SD in 2022, 1075 miles. One of my mods is putting front and back cameras on the bike and recording that trip. I have done multiple 75 mile one way trips on the bike going from Dallas to Choctaw Casino daily do to work. Longest trip was a weekend trip to LA. 201 miles one way. No issues with cramping, or being uncomfortable. Bike worked well at speeds of 60 to 90 mph. The 3.2 gallon tank was an issue that is why I am have the tank worked on to get up to 5 gals.
I think the release of this bike is kinda bitter sweet for my own reasons. The setup on this looks a lot like my 2012 883 that I bought last year, with the mini-apes and the wind screen. Which obviously, I'm all about since it's what I have. That 1200cc motor though has me a bit jealous since it comes stock on the Iron platform, but since I bought mine used, and at a great price, in the end upgrading with the 1200 kit is going to be the cheaper alternative for me. Had I of waited till this year to buy a bike, I probably would have bought this one. Love your channel man!!!
Blockhead Wow that is the coolest bike Ive ever seen I have never really road a bike per say But really want to get in it. & man, that theeee bike I’m doing it yo Iron 1200 yes!!!
Lastly' it seems like either the videos are a Harley commerical Or are over a year old.... Ü must be really busy with your REAL LIFE! »Thanks ₿łöčkHęäd«
Hey blockhead this bike is awesome!..I jus pic up d 2020 billiard blue 1200 2 weeks ago..man she rides great.luv the bike..those min apes look good on it to..hey good video once again..ride safe..
I been trying to decide between the 883 or the 1200 and I think ima go with the 1200 but I like the bars personally that come on the 883 probably cause im a shorter guy and have short arms
