I assumed this was commonly known but I think many people are not aware of Doug coming back in Iron Eagle 4. I wish I shared this info when first uploading.
@@Nflguy4949 I didn't watch the third or fourth because...well because they looked stupid. I was curious about Doug's resurrection and did he just suddenly appear in the fourth one like nothing happened? Or did they actually cover his not-dying?
@@swissbeats2k I agree. Why did the producers or Jason Gedrick himself go this route. Maybe Jason wanted to pursue other opportunities. Sadly I think the reasons are a bit more sinister. Trash Hollywood.
Did they expect us to get that the Colonel was the main character of the franchise from the first to the next? I don't get where they got the money to keep these movies going. Still a guilty pleasure of mine, but still.
The killing off of Doug Masters effectively marked the end of the Iron Eagle franchise: Doug is Iron Eagle. Trying to pass off F-16As as F-16Cs is one thing, but trying to pass off F-4s as MiG-29s was just too much.
My dad took me to see this in the theater. I was so ready to watch Doug take out Russian Airforce all by himself lol jokes on me within 5 min he was gone 😂
I wasn't a fan of these movies but my friends were. I remember them being excited about this sequel, lmao. They were so upset the main character got greased in the opening minutes. Ah, 6th grade memories.
I remember when I watched it as a child, when Doug died it simply didn't make any sense, and I can't remember the following scenes... I only taught "wtf they killed the main character"
It’s the overdub of “DOUG!!!” that is clearly not coming from Cooper in this shot. Even with the mask on you can tell by his eyes he isn’t screaming for his fallen wingman.
Yeah, i loved these movies. When we were kids our parents would go to parties and all the kids were put in the basement or wherever. My friend Kyle and I would watch this, Robocop, Memphis Belle or whatever Chuck Norris movie we had around. We were probably 7 years old, and movie ratings didnt mean anything back then. What a great time that was.
horrible ass movie. Iron Eagle this dude takes on an entire airbase. Iron Eagle 2 .... you know what, nevermind smh. the flip side to this shit is, when Doug gets blown out of the sky look at his boy's face when he takes off his mask. looks like he wants to laugh LOL
This is a dangerous way to go… just like the Transformers movie when they killed of Optimus Prime and the Autobots or when Alien 3 begins with the death of Newt and Hicks. But for some reason this was not a big deal for me and i watched this on VHS a lot of times. 😃
I never understood why they killed off Doug in the opening scene of this movie. Like, didn't he single-handedly take down a squadron of bad guys, land at an enemy air-base, rescue his dad, then take off again... as an 18 year old? What was the point of killing him? Hello?? Anyone?....answer me!
Going beyond 9 G's is not the plane's problem, it can do beyond 15 but pilots can only go to 9 G's before they lose their brain fluid through their ears.. Start scene they don't wear their oxygen masks, but outside views show they do. The walkman playing the song would totally break down at 3 G's.. Nevertheless this scene kicks ass :-)
@@MrRufusjax curious if that is default limit or max limit (I believe on the F18 the pilot can override if deemed necessary, but it has lower overall limits anyway), and at what threshold the structure would need to be inspected.
@@iVTECInside F-16 flight controls are limited to 9 G's. The biggest reason is, it can only have a limited angle of attack otherwise it just drops out of the sky. So the design and flight controls make sure you have energy and speed at all times and in it's own way for over 4 decades it has never been beaten by any other aircraft in any dogfight...
haha yeah I know it came as a shock to me when this happened as well. My headcanon for explaining it is that I believe that Doug was caught off guard and as he was still recovering from the 10Gs he pulled earlier made him an easy target lol. Although yeah I would thought he would do better especially considering what he was able to pull off in the first movie, I love the scene where he pulls 10Gs because we get a very small glimpse of how good of a pilot he has become since the events of the first movie.
a soviet pilot in a MIG-29 was MUCH more dangerous than the typical third world country crappy bad maintained MIG-23 and poorly trained pilots.. thats why as soon as Doug faced real pros in planes as good as his own this happent...
Was so stupid to kill of the star of the previous star of the original film. Then try to retcon Doug's death with s diffrent actor in Iron Eagle 4. Lol
@@patrickosborn1639 Is Cobra holding back a sneeze, is he about to laugh at his friend who went out like a chump? Who really knows what he meant by yelling "DOOOUUG!" I tell ya, the Academy is clearly rigged.
I'm really excited to watch Top Gun Maverick planning on going to see it sometime this week can't wait :) Although I do think they should do an Iron Eagle 5 or a Netflix series similar to Cobra Kai with Chappie whilst Louis Gossett Jr is still alive and acting
@@ryudomasters124 unfortunately iron eagle is not as popular as karate kid 😩 .....they could reboot the series with more budget and technology today......
Okay soooo I call bullshit. Part IV sucked baaaaaaaalllllls. The only reason that movie was accepted was because of the hard work the THIRD movie did in making propeller planes look like a credible threat. The series DIED with this movie and was only continued to help make other studios money.
Yeah Iron Eagle One was a pretty good movie wasn't the best obviously it was definitely for its time. But what they did to Iron Eagle too was awful. They could have done so much with it.
No, this movie is ruined from the start. Jason agreeing to this atrocity shows just how bad he was struggling. They just handed the saga to Louis and did such a poor job we can say that we are glad Jason did not agree to that stupid sequel where they magically brought back Doug Masters.
How could you kill off Dougy Masters??? That just completely negates the first movie. Well, I hope Jason Gedrick got a decent paycheck to be in that one for a few minutes.
This film would've been so much better if it was was role reversal of the 1st film were Chappy and Cooper have to rescue doug Like I fucking love this film but bro it could've been so much better like that
'We strayed off course due to INS malfunction......' Military ATC:........ 'So the last two minutes we've spent watching you hotrodding on our radar screens had nothing to do with it?.....'
Movie makers sucked back then!!! Poorly written, & unrealistic storylines........... Are they working for the WHO now? 😂😂😂 When things don’t add up, Their whole illusion falls apart!!!! 🥴🥴🥴Drrrrrrrrrr?
Remember on Family Guy when Brian wrote the book 'Faster Than the Speed of Love' which Lois told him was Iron Eagle? Then every time he changed the story Lois would laugh saying that was one of the sequels!
Even though these movies were far-fetched, I couldnt believe that after all that struggle in the first movie, they would kill him off like this. I mean, why?
Omg I loved this as a kid, but now, it looks horrid, bad acting, pulling 10Gs and breathing normally without struggling and having your face distorted, omg omg 😂
