I love how this turned out. I really liked the leaves you added. You have a great eye for detail that adds to the realism of your pieces. Really nice job!
One thing that I've done that tends to work quite a bit better for shallow water effects is to use Polyeurethane Gloss. You can normally find it near craft paints in the more crafting hobby stores as opposed to the gaming ones. You can mix in colors the same as with a lot of resins, it dries faster if you're going with thin layers, and there are some interesting options that make for interesting bases with the stagnant water options. One thing you can do with it is to take your fine flocks and sprinkle it into layers of the gloss to create the algae flooded parts of it with little effort (I've actually got some ghouls that I painted up using that as a basing option where it looks like they're wading in it up to their ankles along with pools and such for some other minis that I wanted to be more woodland based such as the mantic brown bear and elk), and it works wonders for basing options since it doesn't tend to require dams like resin does...sure, you need to do a few layers if you want much depth, but it works rather well. If you want anything deeper, you are still better off with resin, but for shallow water, it's one of the better and cheaper options
Indeed I expect that's a great product for shallow water 🙂👍🏻 I've never seen it in any craft stores but I'll have a look for some as it could prove useful in the future. But The water in this fountain was around 6 or 7mm deep with one pour and there's absolutely zero shrinkage or warping of the base so it worked out great 🙂 Thank you so much for watching 😀
I really dig your videos and am super glad I found this channel. The moss is perfect for the project I'm currently working on, semi-flooded swampy graveyard. Was looking for a technique for pond scum and I think your method lightly stippled at the edges is just what I'm looking for! Slainte!
Oh wow! I think i need to try and make one.... just finished my first two mini diorama things. Binge watched your vids when ever i got stuck, helped heaps! Another awesome build mate.
@@irongryphon i build a Bokoblin campfire with roasting meat on it and a ruined half drowned well from the game Zelda Breath of the Wild. Been taking part in #Linktober with a friend lol.
Oh those sound super cool. Making things inspired by games is a great way to get started. I've made things inspired by Skyrim and fallout mostly because I love their lore and immersive worlds. Keep it up 👍🏻😀
I think one of my favourite things about your builds and one thing that sets you apart from .any is your attention to the little details after the main build. The moss, the leaves, etc. are all those details that really bring these pieces to life. Gratz on another great build. Looks awesome.
Thanks dude 👍🏻 I'm always attracted to the details, I find they bring a piece to life. Adding a human element makes them feel real, or adding a nature element like moss or leaves makes them feel part of the environment. Thank you for watching 👍🏻
another awesome build :D the cog could help with game play shenanigans too, is it part of a trap, a mechanism, or just deco? drive the players mad, love it. keep them coming :D
I agree 😀 my idea was that whoever has this castle courtyard built has a penchant for mechanisms and clockwork things. So I'd imagine lots of traps and moving parts in and around this place 😀👍🏻
Woah, this is awesome, the water effect with the wet(ty?) moss and the care of tiny details like these little oxydated leak from the beads. Nice built! Bird seeds with this moss is clever x). I wonder all the possibilities :D. Congrats!
awsome stuff, i'm just getting into dnd and have crafted a small set of tiles and some pillars and other scatter, do you have a recommendation of what to craft next?
Doorways are always useful, or if you want something more aesthetic why not make a simple statue using an old model on a plinth of foam. You can copy from my methods or scout around RU-vid for something that better fits with your existing stuff 😀 whatever you do, keep it modular, it helps massively for versatility and reusability 🙂
Yeah I figured that would actually be a better idea for large hexagons, or just print one yourself on your computer. But the little hexagon guide I made has served well in the past, however those hexagons were alot smaller 😅👍🏻 live and learn I suppose
