Are you upto your eyeballs with prisoners but with nowhere to keep them? Do you need a secure place to store pesky dungeon explorers? Well then this is the video for you. These handy dandy dungeon jails will keep those annoying adventurers incarcerated for days. With removable bars for easy access these are perfect dungeon terrain. And whats a dungeon without a jail cell anyway? So spice up your wargames with this easy to build, Modular dungeon piece.
Materials used - xps foam, paint, mod podge, cocktail sticks/toothpicks, needlepoint mesh/granny grating, styrene rod, static flock, woodland scenics fine turf, hot glue, super glue, uv resin
Tools used - craft knife, pliers, aluminium ball, bevelling tool, hot glue gun, sharpie, ruler

The texture technique put on the walls is amazing. Plus so much easier than drawing out and looks better. Maybe not as fast as a texture roller but looks 100% better. That over head view of the wall after texturing was so satisfying.

@@irongryphon I'm sold. starting a new build now just cause I want to try out the technique. That is next level making things look more realistic. That build could also be horse stalls with the some new doors inserted in.

Even as you were making it, I was thinking it might be more modular than a pair of cells, but honestly that's probably one of the things I often need to represent more than small rooms or a cubby. Very nice work.

great build, wish I'd seen this 18 months ago when I was asked to build a cage, I'd have built this instead. The cage was really difficult to build but I got there in the end after much swearing and cursing. but this is so simple yet effective.

Great tutorial. I like your stamping technique for the brick work. Really makes it more random. Specially like the dual purpose of using it with or without the jail bars.

love the mesh tip - to separate and space the bars! i might fill the spacer holes in the mesh first, seems like that might be easier - always amazed at the fine detail elements and paint touches you use to finish off your pieces - great job again

I built one of these and I found that if I put a layer of mod podge/black paint in the spacer holes and let it tack up a bit, I could put a second coat and it would completely fill the holes :)

It's known as XPS foam, or extruded polystyrene. It's used mostly as an insulating foam layer under flooring. It comes in a few different colours, mostly pink, blue and grey

Osmosis 😅👍🏻 I realised early on that making a door on the cells wasn't actually that necessary, they just need to look the part

He might shake the prisoners into a frequency where they don't interfere with the walls on a nanoscale level and pushes them through the wall. Or he just squeezes them through with brute force and adds a little healing spell to it.

Absolutely beautiful... Quik question: You may have mentioned this before, but the tool(s) you use to indent the foam to make the brick patterns...did you buy that specific? or was it something you just 'make-shifted' ..so to speak...hope that question made sense...Cheers

Hahaha loads of people have asked about that. It's just a piece of rectangular shaped styrene tube. as long as you use something harder than foam, and the right size and shape, im sure you can find an appropriate substitute 👍🏻🙂

It was 4mm 🙂 though I reckon a narrow straw (from a juice box or something) would work aswell if you can't find any square tubing 👍🏻

It's just a piece of rectangular styrene rod that I have dubbed "instabrick" 😅 sometimes you gotta improvise the right tools for the job

I haven't bought any in ages, but I think I got mine on eBay. In the UK our xps isn't as good as the stuff found in the US or Canada though. I think theirs is denser, and takes an impression alot better

One day I'll set up a website that can include links for all countries to buy that foam. But it's simply just 10mm thick XPS foam. It's used in under floor heating, and as I understand, USA has much better XPS than the UK. 👍🏻🙂
