Much respect to the skill of these fighters in ww2. They didn't have the technology to just lock on to targets like today's fighter jets. They had to practice, and master strategies of getting behind and in front of the enemy by diving down, or pulling up, and diving in again. They were skilled fighters on a level that even today's fighter pilots wouldn't match if they were using the same type of aircraft.
Brits literally had to train to do it in days. My uncle, brother of my grandma, was a Spitfire pilot. Those Men were made of something else, which most are not made from now!
This song gets me absolutely pumped in the morning It's absolutely insane to think about how lethal some of our great grandparents were with a pair of wings wrapped around a gun and then settled down to become quiet farmers. Their generation was no joke!
I like to sometimes lay down and imagine a whole movie in my head based on a song. This is the best depiction of what I imagine when listening to Aces High… Amazing work this guy that made the video 👏👏👏 and a lot of respect to the men that fought in that war 🫡
@@bulgariainsight429In terms of human experience, incorrect. Siege of Stalingrad, was indeed probably the worst human catastrophe, in the history of the human race, but when it gets to this level, there is no difference, in personal experienc. The British and other allied pilots, E.g. Polish and Commonwealth, fighting in this battle,, thought that this was the last chance, for the future of humankind, with any level of decency and particularly, for their generation they thought losing meant certain death. That's the same experience, for all intents and purposes, than Stalingrad population, except that it was much colder in Stalingrad, if yo were still alive, When winter came round As for bravery, Trey Harp is right, not only were fighter pilots, the bravest people in the war, as the technology was still unreliable and had only been around for 30 years, with any Reliability "at all" to speak of, but to make matters even worse, most British pilots had to train "off-the-cuff." because Brits had not been mobilising, for 7 years, Like Germany had..
@@Rowlph8888 "Worst catastrophe in all of human history" really? Worse than the Mongols wiping out whole civilizations? Worse than plague killing half of Europe? Worse than small pox killing 97% of everyone in North and South America? Lots of people like you think "The most recent bad thing" is always thew worst event in history. Stalingrad wasn't even the worst battle in WWII. They were several Eastern Front battles with 1 million + casualties on both sides. I do agree after a certain level you can't really compare suffering. But that is also why Stalingrad can't be the worst. It's just an equal on the list of worsts. I don't think the battle of Britain is on the list. Zero question if I'd rather be in London or Stalingrad or any of the other places. I pick London. "Boo hoo they had rationing and 20k out of 8.6 million people died." Those are pretty good odds.
@Suomi Perkele! A certain bro in WWII Germany was a world superpower so powerful that neither the United States nor the Soviet Union could defeat it, the United States was a coward and weak who asked many countries for help to join him to defeat Germany in that moment was germany against the whole world unfortunately we lost the war due to mistakes that hitler made but that does not mean that germany has been the most powerful army in the world
Don't forget Mexico did it's part in WW2, they had the 201st Fighter Squadron "Aztec Eagles", that was attached to the 58th Fighter Group of the USAAF, the 201st was credited with stopping 30,000 Japanese troops in the Philippines and many of the 201st Fighter Squadron lost their lives in battle. But God bless America, England, Mexico and every country for their participation in ridding the world of tyranny.
My favorite part was the Me-262 fights at the end. I understand alot depends on the pilot in the box, but even the more advanced late war Mustang's would have had a hell of time trying to take these early jet fighters down, even with a rookie pilot.
Me 262s were 100mph faster than the P51, had to be attacked on the ground, but for their every 1 we had 10. I’ll take that Merlin over the Junkers any day though.
Plenty of me 262s were shot down or damaged in mid air. Yes they did have a significant speed advantage, but they were very slow to accelerate. And it was even worse when they had to turn.
@@nrdy8221 Sure. Around that time, they started having resource shortages. The allies' strategic bombing Champaign had taken it's toll on Germany's industry. And the fighting had caused them to lose a lot of experienced pilots.
This will be a negative comment. I stopped the clip at exactly 0:52. Why? Because all I have seen during these long 52 seconds were some random shots of USAF bombers being shredded, some roughly WW2 related Allied ground attack footage and exactly 0 frames of anything that could be related to the Blitz. Aces High is about England, or GB, or the Allies (make your pick) defending the isles in 1940/1941. USAF bombers have nothing to do here. Sorry.
I lasted till 02.00 saw a Mustang do a flip that would outfly an x-wing fighter and gave up. Yes, it's a negative comment. Some people just can't handle history being butchered and served up as puerile entertainment. Especially to such an iconic song. This video is worse than dog shit.
@@aviationlover5503 it definatley is a good motivator, my cesna can handle maybe a quarter of these manuevers, but i always thought of them as the manufactuers opinion excuse the mispelling im drunk as its my dayly ritual and my spellcheck is fucked
Great video, although I doubt Mustangs had that kind of success rate against the 262 in the air. Most 262s were downed as they were landing or already on the ground, not high up in aerial combat.
Trilha perfeita para um filmaço. Conta a história do esquadrão composto pelos Negros. Os mesmos eram menosprezados. Mas foram lá e provaram que eram capazes contra tudo e contra todos. "Padrão"
The biggest fighter ace of all times, by far, is Erich "Bubi" Hartmann with 352 confirmed kills. It is said that 60% of allied arial losses are due to FLAK, and not the pilots. And that 8.8 Flak was operated by in the beginn 14 year olds, in the end 10 year old Hitlerjungen. From the 753 US aircraft in the second raid on Schweinfurt, only one got back unscatched. After that there were some weeks for school education.
I read a book a long while ago that states you were more likely to survive the Normandy Beach landing than a full tour in the 8th Air Force. That's some shit.
Yeah Americans built the mustang with a American engine first and it wasn't that good but when they but the Merlin engine in it what it should of had in the first place another great plane was born flown by anmerica pilots
The U.S. well you have had the same problem as us but you did do something about it the only problem was you stopped to soon you should have kept on going and finsed of the lot of them to many do gooders in the world you can't do this you can't say that and all the time the problem just gets bigger and bigger l just wish people would let trump do what he wants to so that the rest of the world would follow don't no what you think of trump but he saying what most of us are thinking
I sat in a Luftwaffe Me-109 in a war museum. I thought I was in a coffin, so tight and claustrophobic it was. A Hawker Hurricane wasn't much different. You'd want to be a rare breed to actually fly those things. I almost got sick justsitting in one just when they closed the canopy over me.
Let's be real here, Sabaton (and Power Metal in general, but especially Sabaton, being History-Themed) would not exist now were it not for Iron Maiden.
Catching an Me-262 with a propeller during dogfight.. You gotta be kidding me. The only way they could take out an Me-262 was during take off and landing. Well, and on the ground.. 😜 Great song, inaccurate movie.
Uh, when listening this really brillian movie. Ok. I was very very drunk. Saw from my gmail a new message that starged " Your order of Submariner Spitfire... No fucking memory what did I order from Internet- just normal working guy... and the message said t-shirt. My faworite t-shirt ever! Thank you Brirris aviation museum I will go before I die!
