I've never seen members of a world-renowned heavy metal band with such low to practically no egos. Very down to earth and wonderful human beings. They know what they are to the music world, but they handle the life really well. Apart from their music, that's one of the reasons why I love Iron Maiden to death. Behind the Beast are wonderful human beings, indeed.
yeah man truer words have never been spoken. after a show they did in NYC Steve and Jannick walked from their hotel to a well known heavy metal bar, in january, outside temp was 10F...and just hung out. Bruce is cool too, and Nicko is off the hook LOL. i got to hang out with him in NY during a VOX show, a band he was co-managing at the time. 2005 i think.
I discovered Maiden in the year 2000, I was browsing a Hasting's bookstore in the music section and I saw the Raising Hell DVD and for some reason I was compelled to buy it, I didn't know anything about them. They've been one of my favorite bands ever since
I’ve never heard a negative comment by Dave Murray in my life; nor about him. Steve has a great sense of humor. What a hard working troupe of performers! Great video and thanks for sharing these!
Viper GTS If it indeed stopped here (Bruce is apparently on the mend) Nicko would go Dave Grohl session muso, Adrian the same, Steve has his other band British Lion, Janick maybe reforms White Spirit but my favourite lovely Davey Murray has only ever known Maiden really. Love you Dave, we'll form a killer band!!!
maiden has fallen into the same trap AC/DC has. They have been playing the same sounds for over a decade or so now and much of their creativity has vanished. It is a machine now and has been running on fumes for a long time. 1/2 this fucking documentary is about their plane.
Absolutely incredible to see the behind the scenes action. I have no idea how anyone copes with such a workload! What an amazing band of brothers and sisters. Thanks for producing this video
a band's great hommage to their hardestworking crew... what a band!...I haven't seen any bands spare and share their spotlights to their own crew members..., Iron Maiden did just that by making a full documentary dedicated to their crew.... behind every great band, there is a solid crew...
Just goes to show you they really do know where they've came from. And acknowledging that they wouldn't be able to do what they love to do without the people who take care of them, the crew the fans, IRON MAIDEN are nothing without them. They are so humble and so thankful for all the help they get. What a bunch of really good dudes. 👍👍
Man, the fact that they were hiring local PA, lights and staging at so many gigs just sounds INCREDIBLY stressful. The language barrier doesn't make it any easier. I reckon the most stress free job on this tour must have been First Officer. Fly every coupla days, then hang out and maybe catch the show. Also, I'm not much of a Maiden fan....don't dislike em by any means, but it's never been my cuppa tea. But I have HUGE respect for them because they all seem like such great people, and I don't just mean the band. The whole entire crew. Really wonderful to see a rock and roll band that isn't dysfunctional.
It's such a contrast in feelings, even as a fan sitting at home watching this on youtube, the heartbreak you can almost feel because of the quake and tsunami in Japan, and you know thousands and thousands of fans are gonna miss two shows that they've been waiting for, for months/years.And later you see the looks of the crowd in Sao Paulo when that huge Eddie comes up in the back, and you just smile.I've been to a few Maiden shows in my lifetime and every time it was the best show of the year, by any band, these guys are the best when it comes to live shows, and (whispers) it's not even my #1 favorite band...shhh, don't tell them I said that.
48:37 That's my old friend Ashley Groom and he passed away yesterday 03.06.2022. One of the nicest, most honest and hard working people you could ever wish to meet. R.I.P Ash' X
Ahhh this is really sad to know. Seen him so many times through multiple watching of these Maiden films, he always came across as larger than life and as a guy that you'd enjoy being around. Very sad. RIP 🌹
Head a shoulders the best rock band and good blokes too, been a fan since 1980 and they never dissapoint, not into the drugs, are always consistent and care about the fans, what more can you ask for - up the irons
They are down to earth working class blokes and they deserve their success through their professionalism and shear hard work. Seen them once at the Glasgow apollo during the world slavery tour at the height of their powers.
@CVM GAM Fuck me what on earth are you talking about, did you have a bad experience at a concert once and blame the world. Sure the music went downhill from the 80's in the 90's - But they pushed a fledgling sound global - NWOBHM, that you can't try to take away from them especially if you didn't get involved until '84, you missed the 1st part which was the best. Their shows are the best out there, no-ones comes close and no-one plays to the audiences in parts of the world they do for a multitude of reasons. I've seen very little change in these guys throughout my 41 years. Put a vinyl on and take a chill pill.
Excellent film reportage sur l'envers du décor d'une tournée d'un grand groupe de rock, c'est aussi un grand hommage à tous et toutes les personnes qui sont dans l'ombre de la tournée et qui sans eux rien ne serait possible!
Had the blessing and privilege of seeing Maiden a couple years ago, best show I've seen so far and I nearly cried. God bless you Iron Maiden and get well Bruce!
This is very informative about the background of how tours work, especially since the interviews are with the people who actually did it. It's cool Bruce is a freaking airline pilot!
Steve Harris is a Rock n Roll Master! His drive & determination to take a dream & bring it into fruition is to be complimented by anyone. A real Rock Icon indeed. Best job in the whole wide world.
UP THE IRON.
One of the best documentaries I have seen.I spend hours searching for music documentaries like this. An hour plus, technical stuff, gear, music and interviews. If anybody knows of any other hour + music documentaries, let me know,Thanx.
What a beautiful family you have boys..... You're all very lucky. I've seen 2 shows of yours..... Somewhere in time and seventh son of a seventh son tour, and both were as equally a fantastic, thank you for sharing your music with me for over 40 years. much love from Washington State and from me ~Jonny5 🇬🇧LONG LIVE IRON MAIDEN🇬🇧 🤘UP THE IRONS🤘
I'm in awe of Bruce. The man is so talented and full of energy. Also nice to see no Janick Gers bashing on the comments section for a change. He is legitimate member of the band. Wish some fans would just get over it.
Everytime I see the catering area, I think of the Oreos twisted in half and the olives on the tray, the full size lunch meat, and small bread 🥪. Brilliant.
what can I say? bruce Dickinson fucking highly intelligent how many rock stars do you know who can fly a plane, where he gets the energy from to fly a plane a round the world and perform on stage i'll never know why he rocks!!
michael rose There are a few people in this world that really inspire me. Bruce Dickinson, Richard Branson, and maybe Steve Jobs (although he was a real fucking dick he was inspiring because of the way he led the comeback of Apple corp. and created the demand for the touchscreen device that most of us use whether it be an Android device or iPhone, whatever).
28:03 "fans are brilliant, been waiting outside in the freezing cold, don't know how they do it". The outdoor elements mean nothing, we do it because Iron Maiden is the greatest thing to ever happen to mankind.
Geo B have to say I really love the maiden. BUT I got to say, CHRIST is most important thing to ever happen to mankind!🙏🏻 Iron Maiden most important thing to happen to live metal🍀
@@rickeycooley9139 christ and his work of fiction is the worst thing that has ever happened to man. Religion is the biggest cause of death in this world, so not the best thing for mankind.
Wow, what an insight to the level of work and commitment from the band and their support crew. It’s hat hard work and dedication that’s made Iron Maiden the best in the world. I’ve been a fan since 1980 and they will always be the greatest rock band to me. Thanks for sharing this video…
too fucking cool how many bands u know that have their own 757 jet they fly themselves around the world, and jam their asses off and rock n roll? ahhh yeah''
Another amazing DVD from Maiden. The crew are the real heroes here. What a tough job! Kudos to Maiden for giving them the credit they are due. There is no other band like Maiden. A truly unique organisation.
Can you imagine being in the iron maiden family and going on that ride of life, incredible! And what more can you say about the singer/pilot. Absolutely stunning!!! What a ride!!!
I love stuff like this behind the scene of bands like acdc and iron maiden the very very hard working crew they are so very hard working and all of the band members are as well iron maiden is one of the most genuine hard working band ever made and ever will be amazing to see thanks for showing and sharing. Adrian looks really really well i love what he wears on stage i wonder who chooses his clothes outfits on stage
I haven't seen Iron Maiden since the early 90's what a great show it was! Actually met the drummer, Nico At the Namm show in Anaheim CA. Keep on ROCKIN everyone!!!!!
I just watched a doc on what went on in that Chilean stadium in 1973, pretty chilling stuff. Victor Jara's story stood out to me as a musician especially..
@14:07 When they are talking about drapes and backgrounds. I like the drapes over big video screens or digital images. Nothing better when that drape drops at the start of a show or when it is made for a certain song.
I love this and all there tours,Love all the brilliant band members and songs 🎵 ❤ I am still waiting for my dream to come true! To see and meet them!Thank you, Iron Maiden, for being the best band forever 🎉
labor out of cognitive dissonance and insanity tbh. funny enough, roadcrew slot for big crew isn't actually bad at all. small stage slots are worse because you REALLY do not know WHERE you sleep the next night. with big crews, the question is more like how many hours was it that night. small stages? "do i have anyone to help me? no?" big stages? "how many guys do i have and are they any good?" etc etc etc
Yes,hipphipp hooray Iron's!!All the equipment stuff they collect through the years - stunning amazing!!Biggest FX ever, biggest and best merchandise ever, best and biggest Crew for the very biggest and best Band in Metal History ever!!!Incredible work,I'm really baff!(speechless)
i dont know what happen To iron maiden? they dont do anymore even good album, the last pretty good is, fear of the dark, and all times best is, what should everybody knows, the number of the beast, what Else in Matter in fact.. what happen To metallica? maybe success went To in head.. i dont like new stuff at all, very sucks they are nowdays.. the number of the beast is cult classic and metallica, and justice for all is best!
c, no doubt that Steve is the main visionary, force, brains and leader of the band, but they are such amazing in their unity and support for one another.I doubt any metal band comes even close.Maybe Priest.I mean damn!!!11they are still going at it and they are fucking all near 60 yrs old!!!!!! Incredible band, love `em !!!! \m/
When I first started listening to Iron Maiden in 1982, wouldn't have given a crap about this stuff - Now in my mid 40s, it's fascinating - mad respect for people who can deal with these kinds of logistical problems.
It’s more than great metal, it’s great story telling at its very best.like many my age61, 30years ago I didn’t want this , now I can’t do without it! Up the Irons
You know what the most wildest thing is watching the production. How much work that's involved in The production hold the corroborchin that happens. Watching behind the scenes all the mysterious unexpected moments. And it seems like every time you see something new. There's always something more to come. That's what makes it so valuable No I'm just coming next time.
