Fear of the dark is one of those songs that never get old. I could listen to a hundred versions and covers. But Iron Maiden live performances are the best there are.
When I was six years old, I went on a vacation in Italy with my parents where we visited this street market. Being a boy, I was into monsters and other obscure stuff, so as soon as I saw a t-shirt with Eddie the Monster at the market, I had to get me one, not having a clue what Iron Maiden even was. My dad told me about these guys being this crazy rock ‘n roll band that thrashed hotels on world tours and stuff, and I just thought it sounded so cool. Shortly after we returned home, my dad bought me the Powerslave album for my seventh birthday. I’d only listened to kid’s music up until that point, so this was my first actual CD. As soon as Aces High started playing on the little stereo in my room, I was hooked. It just completely blew me away. The sound, the tempo, Bruce’s vocals. I fell deeply in love with it. My dad traveled a lot with work, so he’d always bring home gifts for my mom and I. One time he’d bought me the full Rock In Rio VHS box (which I still have to this day by the way), and hearing the iconic live version of this song on that tape is something that I’ll never ever forget. I’ve gone through a lot of phases in my 27 years and listened to a whole lot of different music, but I never ever stopped listening to Iron Maiden. It’s weird to see them getting old even though they still sound just as amazing as they did 20- or even more years ago. As I see a lot of people saying in the comments, even though we’ll have to face the fact that these guys will be gone one day, they will live on in our hearts and memories forever. This kind of music is not to be forgotten, and though I might be far younger than a lot of Iron Maiden fans, I’m proud to say that I’ll be happy to make sure their legacy is passed on to generations to come. Long live Maiden.
Lol. Your dad clearly didn't know them that well. They were/are a unique heavy metal band, who didn't do drugs or thrashed hotel rooms. They are a very professional heavy metal bands, who are also legendary! 🤘🤘
Md. Riasat Azim Aditto unfortunately you´r not....and promise me that when that day comes, you will cherish their music, DVD s, and memories of theese outstanding guys and hold them close to your heart, because they will live forever in our minds, hearts and souls.....
Tenshi Hikari I was first to the barrier in London august 10th, and their incredible music and phenomenal performances lifted the ROOF, and in spite of two broken ribs, a back looking like a rainbow, I will be there again, where ever it may be !!
Rory H : this is true. Apparently it's been confirmed that they will be touring North America in 2019. Hopefully the band will take a nice break just before then, so that Bruce will remain in top form. But also, as you just said, he STILL puts other vocalists to shame, regardless!
matt k honestly I really think Bruce´s voice is back to 2005 level, he personifies metal singing in a very brilliant way, and IF they are touring in the North America 2019 I´ll be there, anywhere, or maybe in the South America ??
Watch Maiden Concert at Wacken 2016. Nice Concert.. but you can see that the are not 20 anymore. After a hard World Tour them not such powerfull anymore.
Michael Meyer I´m fully aware of that, at a certain age the human body starts wearing down, and it´s quite obvious there are some back aches, and not so well responding muscles, it may not be obvious to everyone but since my back is giving me problems you can see they move differently as all of us do, and seriously touring all over the world for so long is a tough life, even if adrenalin is powerful to the max !!!
i was talking to my friends the other day and we were discussing wich one of the concerts we have attended that were the best we have been to, and we all concluded that this Maiden concert at Tele2 was the best one either of us had ever been to. I feel so privileged that at 28years old( currently 32) have had the luxury of experincing Iron Maiden in this present time and also when according to my opinion were and still are one of the best live act STILL at this age. You can really feel the love and passion between the Band and crowd. Its undisputed that Iron Maiden still Loves to perform and cares about their fans which make up for an amazing experience. its an unexplainable bond that cant be described with words but has to be seen. Sorry for long post #nohomo
I am a man who walks alone And when I'm walking a dark road At night or strolling through the park When the light begins to change I sometimes feel a little strange A little anxious when it's dark Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a constant fear that something's always near Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a phobia that someone's always there Have you run your fingers down the wall And have you felt your neck skin crawl When you're searching for the light? Sometimes when you're scared to take a look At the corner of the room You've sensed that something's watching you Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a constant fear that something's always near Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a phobia that someone's always there Have you ever been alone at night Thought you heard footsteps behind And turned around and no-one's there? And as you quicken up your pace You find it hard to look again Because you're sure there's someone there Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a constant fear that something's always near Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a phobia that someone's always there Fear of the dark, fear of the dark Fear of the dark, fear of the dark Fear of the dark, fear of the dark Fear of the dark, fear of the dark Watching horror films the night before Debating witches and folklore The unknown troubles on your mind Maybe your mind is playing tricks You sense, and suddenly eyes fix On dancing shadows from behind Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a constant fear that something's always near Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a phobia that someone's always there Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a constant fear that something's always near Fear of the dark, fear of the dark I have a phobia that someone's always there When I'm walking a dark road I am a man who walks alone
Nick From Cleveland you nailed it, every inch of the way ......I honestly think we may be a little spoiled, having theese incredible guys side by side, but when the going gets tough, and they DO retire, who will we turn to ?? Theese guys have given all of us incredible music, lyrics and shows just forever.....to be honest I think we must show them our appreciation, and somehow tell them what an incredible difference they REALLY made for us !!!
@@susannewilliamsson8339 we won't have to turn to anyone the music that these legends made will be a tresure of music forever and when they take their rest their music will still accompany us till the end of time
@@Acheesecak so true, their music will always be in our hearts, minds and souls, and it will, but I also believe we are privileged and proud of keeping their Legacy alive....for future generations......
I started listening to their music when I was a yound child. It wasn't until later when I realized that much of their music was based on the most profound events in history which is ingenious. There is nothing like Iron Maiden in existence.
Iron Maiden
@@thewildbruce5612 Usually bands play together and release singles or demos before finding a record label. But yes, Iron Maiden became famous in the 80s. Like Smashing Pumpkins: a band of the 80s but that became famous in the 90s. Anyway, this song has been released in 1992, the music scene was already different from the early 80s.
After seeing Maiden performing this EPIC, legendary song in CHILE october 15th 2019............I´m totally LOST for words !! There simply ARE no words great enough !! The level of energy, passion and adrenaline was sky high, everyone was completely into it, I´ve always known Maiden loves to perform in Chile, and now I know why..........Up the Irons, forever and some more !!!
Let's not forget that Chile is the country with the most fans per capita in the world ... the mutual love between the band and the country is incredible... 🙌❤🇨🇱🤘🏽
@@susannewilliamsson8339 I have always said that seeing Maiden in Chile should be a tourist destination, what is experienced in the country is from another world ... not in vain in the 2019 gratitude video 70% of the images are from Chile, I hope that you can come for the next concert and that all the world comes as Mr. Bruce said ... Greetings from Chile🤘🏽🇨🇱❤
@@angeladread if there is anything I am sure of it is that I will be there! To be honest I would love to travel to Chile again, no matter if Maiden were having a concert or not..... But of course, that would be a bonus!
HERE IT IS the ONE SONG that always will be a " hit " in their crowd participations, it must be electrifying to the guys to see the crowd singing, swaying, roaring below.....a fantastic tribute to the ones we love the most....STUNNING GUYS !!!

I saw Iron Maiden with my nephew and friends in 1998 in San Benito Tx Bailey was singing and they put on a great show I still have Janick Gers guitar pick Dio was the second act (GOD Bless You Ronnie) how cool was that.
Iron Maiden.
Your comment made no sense. First you say, that you're not a fan of Maiden. But then you contradict that comment and say that "the good fellows showed coolly what real music is". Yeah. That's not confusing at all...
Crazy to think the first memory i have is me, 4 years old, sitting in the car with my parents, on our way to our new house, and run to the hills is playing on the stereos. 14 years later I finally got to see them live and it was the best experience I’ve ever had. Thank you so much, Iron Maiden. Up the irons!
That voice. Sounds the same to me. Better even than decades ago. Bloody amazing. One of the handful of bands that made the world amazing. Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones......X.........X.......X
I've never been a medal fan ....more the Progressive/EDM/Trance music genre. BUT ....... I've always liked Iron Maiden, and this "Fear of the Dark" live performance is awesome! You should fear the dark, we are coming .......
I became a metalhead because of Maiden. They were there when i was young. Good to see that they are still out there now i am old. This is literal a band of a lifetime for me.
This show was without a doubt the best in a looooong time. Saw Maiden live first time in 1984 on the Powerslave tour, and I wonder if this might be the best since...Shit Bruce sounds better than bootlegs from the tour back then...There will be no other metal band like this, the connection with the crowd is just something very special. Bruce Springsteen has something of the same here in Sweden, but not the same...Up the Irons!
dboholm 01 My thoughts exactly, Bruce sounds as good as back then if not better, to me this tour is on par with those of the early 80's and long hope there's a few more to come yet...
The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame is just a complete piece of s#it! Have you even seen what kind of shitty artists they have there, that has NOTHING to do with Rock or Metal? There's several pop artists and even hiphop and rap artists there, that DOESN'T deserve to be there!!! Hall of Fame is a joke! 😝👎
great choice for thumbnail. I never thought I'd be saying this but I think by now Bruce has beaten Peter Gabriel in sheer number and diversity of costumes
