IRON MAIDEN PINBALL EARLY GAME TOURNAMENT TUTORIAL

In this tutorial, you're going to learn my early game tournament strategy for Iron Maiden pinball. The strategies involved assume you have a general understanding of the Iron Maiden ruleset. Typically this is my go to strategy with a Stern Pro Circuit level set-up when competition install is active.
Early Game Roadmap:
1. Plunge to flipper or X skill shot
2. Left Orbit to Left Loop until Fear of the Dark (FOTD) is ready
3. Start FOTD, focus on loops and collecting loop jacks if available.
4. Sequence is Left Loop to light spinner, Left Orbit to complete. Do this 3 times and collect soul shard up the middle.
5A. If Mummy is 1 shot away from starting, go ahead and light the mummy locks.
5B. If Mummy is more than 1 shot away, go back to Left Orbit to Left Loop until next mode (Aces High) is ready. Gradually Mummy will be ready by accident from missing the Left Orbit, start your mummy locks once they're lit.
6. Start Aces High (add-a-ball after 1st mystery award at orb shot)
IF YOU PLAY THE MODE:
A. Play Aces High by hitting Left Orbit, Left Loop, 1 ramp, middle shot
B. Trap up both flippers. Ramp, middle shot, ramp to complete Stage 2
C. Hit the roving shot to complete Stage 3 (Left Orbit easiest)
IF YOU LOOP ONLY
A. Trap and stage upper flipper, hit loops until your hands fall off.
*Keep an eye on power jackpot

What other strategies does everyone else do? I tend to hold off on my Trooper multi-ball locks until my 3rd mode or ball 2.

It's a shame this is your only Early Game Tournament Tutorial. I'll be playing this machine in a competition this weekend and this video was a great little intro to the game.

Great video. As far as other strategies, I like to play mummy mb with Icarus, I like to play tropper mb with Hallowed, I will usually always try and get a 2x multipler going before I collect tomb # 1 depending on what ball I”m in. In tournament play it huge to get to tomb treasure 3 which adds 15 million to your power jackpot, other than that anything you do work towards cyborg mb.

I like those combos as well. With Trooper MB, I like to time it with Hallowed. If I can get into Hallowed with one Trooper lock... 1. Hit the left orbit for 2nd lock for first Hallowed shot. Ball stops there, then hit newton ball for first Hallowed shot completion. 2. Hit the right orbit for 3rd lock and second Hallowed shot. If the pin is playing nice, when Trooper MB starts, the balls launch back up the big loop and settle at the mini flipper. Then keep the mini flipper up, which more times than not, will knock all 3 targets down to complete the second Hallowed shot and light your AAB up the middle. 3. Hit any ramp for third Hallowed shot, then up the middle to complete Hallowed mode, plus AAB. 4. Collect Soul Shard and start the Trooper MB grind for either points, Cyborg progress, or power jackpot progress.

I appreciate it. We will be doing several guides in the future. Some in depth, but my main goal is to create smaller videos that are 2 minutes or less to quickly explain how to play certain pins when you need the information immediately.

Shouldn't the modes start with Icarus if it's in tournament setting? I'll have to practice the loops. I normally avoid them because too often it's a left outlane deathtrap. I try to work towards cyborg start super slings and with several multiball lined up. Cyborg, Madness, Aces, mummy, Rime, try for 3x during trooper Ive had 60-80 million super slings Definitely a solid strategy if you can consistently loop. I was watching you do it last Tuesday at Cjs and thought to myself...man I've got to get that shot down..saw you go from 300 to 800 million in minutes...went home and tried..tagged my machine with 16 loops.

Competition Mode would start with Icarus, the Comp Install is Fear of the Dark. If it's in competition mode, I tend to avoid the ramps all together to keep the ball safe. In which case, going back up the middle and then knocking down drops to light Trooper MB would be my main objective. If super slings is available and you still have MB or a MB mode ready, it's usually worth activating super slings to grind out additional points. The loops are killer for sure. I've played on some where the shot just isn't there, but that's few and far between. Out of all the ones I've played on, I still feel like CJ's is the most difficult version of the overall game that I've encountered.

When I try and hit the loop I always mess up and send it into the left outlane.

That was an issue for me when I first played the pin. The adjustment I made was to be early on the shot. If I miss, I can adjust a little bit later, plus it's more likely to not go out of control near as much since the the lower part of the mini flipper or the targets can keep the ball reasonably safe.
