***** They are. Steve Harris is so 'down to earth' Could have been from the 12 Waysted Years-video. He is just great and calm down, and so is Nicko. But he (Nicko) is the funny guy.
+T Scott Yes, I met Steve a few years back in London. I was going to a Deep Purple gig, and he was, too! He stood and chatted with the gig-goers just like one of us - great guy.
I heard this band in '83 for the first time (number of the beast) and i instantly heard something in them that was different ...the very melodic twin leads and the pounding bass lines....something very special for me....supported them ever since.....greatest band on the planet!
***** Sure, dude. But what people sometimes forget (or don't know) when raising those stupid Clive X Nicko discussions, it was Clive who recommended Nicko to replace him. You remember that satan in The Number of the Beast video clip? It is Nicko! :)
+Saulo Silva Wow I needed to see that comment. Thank you, I make that mistake far too often. I didn't know Clive recommended him as a replacement. Do you have a source for that?
+kchandaman I read something about it back in early 90s from some Metalhead magazines. You know, in those days there was not much knowledge sharing and by 1992 internet was a few years away from us, so we had to believe in what we read. But give a try searching for it, Clive wanted to be more with his family and Nicko played for a french band called Trust, and was ranked very high (like Top 5) in drummers magazines. Only a few legends like Peart, Paice and Jon Hiseman had more votes. It is clear that Clive's pick was the right one. :)
They have worked so hard. Without Steve Harris there is no Maiden he is amazing. The entire band are not only the best in their style of music they are all great down to earth people. Men of God is my understanding. Hard to believe when you hear their music. A tree shows its fruits and Maiden has shown theirs to be the best. Good hearted people.
@@Drumvain Agreed 100%! Iron Maiden is a great band, and Steve Harris is one of the best (if not the best) band leaders ever with his attitude, his work ethic, his musical talent, etc... he's one of my biggest role models!
Iron Maiden have always been and always will be my favorite band. I come from the analog era. I listened to them since Number of the Beast. They have been a real influence and joy for decades. They are all professional and awesome musicians, every one. Paul, Clive, Blaze, and the present line up. Having 3 guitars is total Maiden. They do what the want. They were an influence on the thrash bands that followed them in the early 80s like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill, Exodus, Testament, and many more. This band will go on as long as they can. They did it all with little promotion by the media. They did it underground in the states where anyone who played them got shut down. They changed the formula of stacks of Marshals. They covered all that up with excellent theatrics that went along with the theam of each album, and had Eddie who was the first entity in metal and Eddie can go anywhere and do anything. Genius! Bruce learning to fly 4 engine jets gave them the ability to go places the never could before. That’s freedom. Bruce also played locally in his own band while learning to fly these jets. I could go on and on telling everyone about the cutting edge first to do it stuff. It would be a 6 page speech. Love that music forever.
I love english people 🤣 I never know what they're saying, but I laugh everytime they laugh! They have a conversation with each other while they're talking to others at the same time😂
Steve Harris was and still is my main influence on my playing.......sincere thanks and respect to you, Steve! On another note, Steve and Nicko are one of the best rhythm sections out there! These guys are so humble and genuine. Very cool. God bless, guys! Maiden ROCKS!!
So now it's May 2015 and.. 40 years and going since the formation of the band.. Let's hope for at least another 10 creative years and contribution to world top class timeless music!
.. So now it's May 2017 and .. guess what.. 42 years and going since the formation of the band! PS: I think I'll keep posting this on an annual basis until 2025 (and more, I'd hope).
@@xvasilakos Agreed! Maiden are the best in the world and I hope they keep rocking for many more years! Their music will live on and on as long as we keep listening to it.
Nicko is so cool. He doesn't speak often but whatever he says is classy and very witty. He has that dry English humor. I also think Steve is a pillar of strength. A real rocker. The music comes from his generous heart. Loved them since Piece of Mind when I was a sophomore in high school. Got a case of Trooper beer in my refrigerator.
My favorite band growing up and still get played quite a bit. Now my son is listening, respecting the epic sound of Iron Maiden. Amazing group of people. Nicko is the life of the party and the best single bass drum player I have ever seen. His one foot plays double bass.. pretty cool to watch. He is due to go on tour again this year. This band set such a high standard in rock it's hard to beat.
+Intrepid Inner Journeyman - This interview must have been from 2005, otherwise Steve wouldn't have said that May 1975 made a 30 year anniversary. At least I hope he'd remember. :)
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Nicko at his ribs restaurant on opening day. The entire band had shown up. He's such a humble man and got his autograph. He's about 5'6" tall. He serves the best ribs I've ever tasted. The fact that this band does so many benefits for Clive and others with MS shows how much they are willing to help those with such a debilitating disease. God bless this band. Up the Irons.
Would be great to see top bands get together and sell out stadiums and give the largest portions to charity, Hell could even have collection plates to gather more. Im sure bands like Green Day. The idea would draw many top bands to sit in a few gigs a year if someone organized it like Jeff Mute Lang
Yes I am english decent myself very nice blokes and mates they don't let superstardom go to there heads like many bands do and they very humble as well iron maiden forever and 1# of all time!! Up the irons!!!;maiden manic and be proud who you are mates!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🤘🤘🤘⚡⚡⚡👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes he always has been hasn't he. Always more comfortable on stage. Certainly unchanged by wealth and fame anyway which is good. Seen nterviews with Steve and Dave Murray, you'd never think they were rock superstars. Luckily Nicko and Bruce are there to pull them along on all the off stage stuff they have to do.
