My favorite thing about Stony are the complimentary personality traits. Like how Steve is a Social Introvert and Tony's a Lonely Extrovert, Steve is from the past and Tony is a futurist, or Steve being an artist and Tony being a scientist. God I love them together.

Well technically Stony did become canon... In an alternate reality where Tony was a woman named Natasha Stark. They even got married.

Just saw Civil war today. I was in literal tears but hey, no matter what anybody says I'm still shipping Stony, till the day that I die!!

When she talks about the movies I got a bit confused. They have so much chemistry, even Black Widow sees that they have sexual tension between then. If anything, they give a good representation of two closeted males being uncomfortable with their feelings for one another. I don't know why I had to point this out, but I did. So... Yeah.

I think, if I could boil down why I ship Stony, it'd be two words: "opposites attract." I'm more or less a movie-only fan, so I can't speak of their comic counterparts' chemistry, but MCU!Tony and MCU!Steve have just enough things in common (both orphaned from a terrible accident, both experienced with war and the consequences of it in some way, both have a best friend in the military named James, etc.) to create common ground should they choose to find it, but at the same time, they come from opposite angles of all of those (Warmonger and soldier, civilian and military, futurist vs the past, being a big bleeding heart hiding under layers armor who never wants to lose anyone vs being a kind but steely-where-it-counts kind of guy who does the right thing no matter the cost to him personally or emotionally) that it creates that certain interesting dynamic that makes my inner shipper purr. It also helps that this ship is a goldmine for good angst-fics. Like, wow. The AUs are beautiful and don't even get me started on those that involves time travel in some way. Those are just... ugh, so good. ;w;

I absolutely adore Stony. And I got into the comics after watching the movies so I'm one of the people who shipped MCU Stony without knowing their relationship in the comics. And yes, although their relationship was fairly antagonistic I saw so much potential for shipping there (plus so much UST). But it's after the comics that I really fell in love with the ship. Now watching the films I ship them even more knowing the relationship they could have - it's not like their personalities are any different in 616 after all. So the MCU is an alternate universe where they go from "enemies" to friends to lovers instead and are still stuck somewhere between enemies and friends now in Civil War. But that just provides a blank canvas for fanfiction and other fan media of how they get together which is so much fun.

I think the Russo brothers ship Stucky and Joss Whedon ships Stony, lol. I ship both, but if I had to choose one OTP in the Marvel movie universe, it would be Stony.

I love Stony. When the first Captain America movie came out I shipped Stucky. But then I switched to Stony when the first Avengers movie came out. Now I can't get enough Stony. I think Civil War will break my heart.

Civil war broke my heart, but at the same time made me ship them more because there were some scenes that did help in my opinion with the Stony ship.

When Civil War was on the horizon and everyone was like "Are you Team Captain America or Team Iron Man?" I was sitting there like "... so there's this thing called shipping"

For me, Steve's actions in the MCU doesn't invalidate Stony at all. The Steve/Bucky relationship has always seemed like a familial bond whereas the Tony/Steve relationship is more complicated. I could never ship Stucky ...there's no heat there. It would be like watching two brothers make out. I love the friction between Steve and Tony. They challenge each other and the resulting UST is off the charts.

I like this video a lot. I have only 2 less than positive things to say tho: 1) The Why Not Ship Them part is overly long, should be 0.5 seconds if you must have it. 2) The multiverse aspect of the ship was not even mentioned. It's super important tho because multiversally, Stony is the most popular ship, statistically. I think it says a lot about the engagement of the shippers, who sometimes work with 2 or 3 or more canons. Otherwise I love just the fact that this exists.:)

I didn't use to ship them, then I watched Avengers Assemble. If anyone wants to see Tony and Steve having a very positive friendship which is easily taken as romance, that show is awesome, they are basically each other's number one fans and it's so great!

I love the overall explanation and all but you should have included universe 3490 to this video! Even though 3490 is in a different marvel universe timeline, it helps solidify the stony shipping.

I think one of the things that you forgot to mention is how they can each see right through each other's acts and can tell when mean something and when they don't mean something.

I'm actually a bit worried about the whole Civil War affect. They used such an unforgivable act to push along their story line, and I get that not everyone has munched up Civil War fics for year since they saw the movie and had their damn heart ripped up and stomped on and got really *coldly* angry at Steve for his betrayal. So okay, there's a lot of people who aren't going to care one way or another and are just going to go see the upcoming big kahuna movie without dragging along all the baggage that I will, as someone who's been happily brewing my 'bad-steve-hisshiss' feelings for over a year, and still can't see a way that I could actually be convinced that Tony could ever trust Steve again, let alone go back to being my wonderful old Stony. But it worries me, because they're going to have to fix-it, right? For the movie to go forward they can't focus on Tony and Steve's relationship in a way that will close things off in a satisfying manner to those of us who have invested all of ourselves into this whole thing; because Steve and Tony's relationship isn't what the Thanos story-arc is about, so they can't possibly expend the screen time necessary to make it right. But, then I can't see a way they can fix-it. Anything that glosses over what Steve did will leave me feeling frustrated and condescended to. With all that in mind, I've been gearing up to see the big kahuna movie as a sort of stand alone, perhaps? So, Civil War will have to be compartmentalized into it's own story-arc and I'll need to leave it there to be able to enjoy the next installment. Also, I do have a fair amount of sympathy for writing decisions made at the time to make the story they're telling the best it can be, without looking down the road to how that might affect upcoming events. I mean, wonderful Rowling painted herself into a corner with a first novel written along Roald Dahl's 'Matilda' lines, only to move the story-line into a realistic structure, which without rewriting the entire first novel, left things that in the Matilda-universe were par for the course, such as a little boy living under the stairs and not getting enough to eat, and made them horrors visited upon an innocent child rather than fun romp along the Dahl lines. So, I may just have to eat that, that the writers made decisions that weren't related to 'what would this character actually do' and rather wrote the Civil War storyline because 'Justice League is coming out with their own civil war movie and we need to fuck their game up well and truly and will use anything to facilitate that'. And since I'm fairly sure that's what happened, I'll need to learn to live and let live and just go ahead and enjoy the next movie. Although people of these types may not attract the ENTP initially, their relationships present a lot of potential to complement and learn from one other.

I've never really thought of Stony tbh. I don't really consider myself part of the Marvel fandom. I 've only seen the movies and I feel like I need to have a better grasp on the material but I've never had the time to read the comics. Lol. Although, from the loads of fanart I've seen about Stucky, they kinda took my heart a little bit but I also like the idea of Stony as an "opposites attract" kind of relationship.
