Ironhead Chopper Build Transmission Install / Chain And Oil Tank

Another Ironhead video. In this one, it's the Ironhead Chopper Build Transmission Install along with seeing about the chain and oil tank fitment. In this build I was wanting to use the oem oil tank, but wanted to find out after I install the transmission if the chain would clear the oil tank. But like with every chopper build, there's always a curve ball. Just like with an ironhead... it's an endless black hole of something always needing to be done.

There’s a sense of pride and accomplishment in riding something you put together yourself and have figured out what will fit and what won’t. Harley shops here in New York won’t work on anything older than 10 years.

It's a good thing that Harley Shops won't work on anything over 10 years old! It creates a secondary market for other shops to open. Plus I don't know of any other car, truck or motorcycle manufacturers that work on their "old" vehicles.

I love straight-cut gears. One of the things I really like about my 2005 XL883 is the sound of its straight-cut gears in the transmission. The "new and improved" 2006 transmission with helical-cut gears and plastic-caged needle rollers just don't "sound right" to me. Supposedly, besides being quieter they shift better but I can't tell the difference. I love the vintage sound of my noisy transmission which never, ever misses a shift.

That's what I was told last weekend at Harley. Even my bikes are too old for them to work on. 2006 is about as old as they want to deal with. Sad. They do have the specialty tools if I need them to press bearings or whatever. Thankfully I was able to buy Harley Service Manuals and have great teachers on RU-vid.

Hey Amigo had a question. Trying to figure out list compression in front cylinder. I baffled the exhaust and think I restricted the too much and messed something. Don't know what I'm looking for a blown head gasket or valve. Everything look ok but...? Thanks Dig all the videos

I have a question what the best way to determine your thrust washer thickness on both shafts. I have a trans out of a donor bike my trapdoor was screwed they left the washer of shifter cam was rubbing on fork rod I don’t seem to have correct thrust washers mainshaft starts to bind when snugging up door

@SaddleTrampTV Год назад
You might have too thick of a thrust washer or check to see if those main shaft bearings are in place.
