I was also racing that day, it was without a doubt the most stressful race morning I have ever had! I totally agree with you that the run was awful with the heat and humidity. Great job, way to push through to the finish!
Thank you for sharing your journey. It was fun to watch. I know this was a couple of years ago but I believe they told you guys that wetsuits were not allowed, correct? At what point did they notify you of that? By any chance do you know if wetsuits can be worn even if they are forbidden for age group athletes? I ask because I am doing Des Moines in 2 months and I can't swim without a wetsuit. It scares the hell out of me. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I realize I may be answering late - they did share with us the morning of the race that wetsuits were not allowed. That being said for anyone that wasn't comfortable without a wetsuit you could still race with one, you just forfeit your ability to place for age group places or world championships.
