@@TheSK1PP yeah I'm sure they would usually save the really serious talks for off stream. On stream would be kind of a good time to try lightening the mood and making funny jokes while talking about her progress
Yes after 3-5 years or more of being bedridden your body basically min maxes and decides “ok you don’t have legs now”. She’s basically rebuilding her legs from scratch
Fr it's like old-time miners whose eyes would just decide to "shut off" because they hardly got any light stimulation. Pretty wild what the brain can adapt to -- even to a fault
It’s too bad mousey has to be isolated. There are a lot of advancements in physical rehab like zero gravity treadmills where it slowly adds your body weight so you can build up your muscles and aqua aerobics which are very low impact. I think she’d do well with a desk bike. Where you pedal sitting down normally for office workers. Just anything to build the legs back up without so much burnout and pain.
Unfortunately I don't think her body can tolerate sitting for long, she streams from her bed. I think she mentioned something about working with a physical therapist at some point, maybe they're able to do it remotely
Her situation has changed a lot over time, too. Luckily she seems to be doing relatively well now, but before she moved she had more limited healthcare and she still has to deal with availability of treatment.
Doesn't have to be Connor though because you are the one who thought of it. Now her fans just need to figure out how to get it to her. All of her chat could pitch in for it, not all of this should land solely on any one person. :)
Connor is the best. Mousy is struggling and he just throws jabs at her. Like a friend does. No pity party, no coddling, just a friend busting the balls of another. Truly a Chad among Chads.
It's not necessarily a bad thing to be nice to people lol. Throwing jabs at friends is fine if that's how you are, but why do you make people who are nice and supportive and empathetic out to be unfriend-like? Our culture nowadays is so weird. Everybody's so used to being put down and being made fun of that they, themselves, feel like they have to put up this facade of sarcasm and have a repertoire of snarky comebacks. Society seems to deem people who don't do that to be abnormal in some way, as if being genuine and forthright about their care and love for you is a bad thing. I've had to deal with this for a long time, and I can't even tell someone "I love you" anymore without feeling embarrassed.
I understand what you mean, but as someone who struggles with her own set of challenges, sometimes I do need a bit of coddling. I think it's okay to need that, especially for people who struggle. I'm happy she's able to be light hearted about it though
@@leightonrud66well that’s where you’re wrong. Your ex came to you because she wanted comfort and needed some coddling. Taking jabs at someone who is your friend and their chronic illness is their whole life is different than someone who’s problems are temporary
@@EeveeRealSenpai Man I've survived purely on dr pepper and microwave food since I was born. I think he either just didn't exercise ever or was a special case. It's honestly been years since I've had just plain water, I just get enough exercise and still eat enough and haven't been under or overweight
No, what sucks the most is remembering being able to do those things before. It completely fucks up your ability to see progress and to judge what is legitimately safe to push yourself with, because everything hurts at points that don't make any sense to hurt unless something is breaking. Every minute you push, you're going "is this actually progress, or am I going to be laid up for even longer and actually lose ground?"
The fact that her muscles are hurting is actually really positive! It means she's actually getting muscle tone back after going through many years of atrophy and being bed bound. It's rough to start with but the more she does it the stronger she'll get!
In another clip she was telling Mochi & Melody how she was sad about not being able to train her legs when her infusions would make her sick, feeling like she was erasing all her progress. But resting is super important, especially when you're feeling that awful ache and pain. It gives you time for your muscles to rebuild stronger than before, making your net workout even MORE effective. Soon she's gonna be walking like normal again. Super proud.(:
not to mention that your body retains some sort of memory. if you stop trainign a muscle after building it up it only takes a fraction of the time to bring it where it was before.
to the younger audience of ironmouse, consider that you could be part of someone's healing process too. physical therapy and occupational therapy are reliable fields and you can help people have the life they want.
@@Butterfly1025A agree on this one for your country and the young people specifically in your country, so that they're more likely to end up working side by side with you
Considering how many opportunities to get into healthcare that appeared when I was in 12th grade it's a pretty understaffed field. Paramedic classes offered in 12th grade nursing associates degrees offered if you start at 11th grade and get a 13th year of school, and career center classes that give you a boost in healtchcare related scholarships? For free? Just saying look around if your young. If your older I'd say go talk to your doctor and hospitals about job related stuff in person and you might get surprised with job information the internet doesn't have or hides well somehow. Get your money up and your people.
Yes!! I never realized how important physical/ occupational therapists were until I fractured my upper forearm and dislocated my elbow. I was in incredible pain and had to learn how to lift my arm up again and to regain strength in my hand due to the dislocation causing my nerves to paralyze my hand temporarily. My PT was amazing and she made recovery feel possible. She was such an encouragement during some of the hardest parts and I worked really hard to recover. The day I was able to reach up for long enough to wash my own hair in the shower I sobbed from joy. My arm was mega weak after, but it was such a milestone for basic self care that I wasn’t able to do for myself, my mom had to come in and help me. It’s been 3 years since that time and I’ve made a full recovery. I owe it all to my physical therapist and I’d probably add her into my thank you speech if I ever won an Oscar just bc she’d be part of the reason I could hold the dang award 😂❤❤
After being assaulted and stuck in bed for two years and having pneumonia for a year after that... I have a deeper understanding of what mouse is going through.. the strength she's displaying. Queen. ❤
@@Vilodenas naw. That’s brother behavior. He’s gone too far into the friendship and now they’re stuck together for life. She’s the one any future partner threatens to tell when he gets out of line
From going to zero walking to 7 minutes on a treadmill is a lot. It's like the last time I got my gym pass, and I hadn't gone to one for a long time. I did 2 hours, and then my body was screaming the next day
@@thelordoftheweebs9501 Pretty sure it would be horrible for her. Having a beer together just became a figure of speech between them for her fight to get back a semi-normal life. She just wants to meet connor IRL really
I really appreciate mouseys openness about her CVID and recovery and everything. Im disabled and often theres so much pressure to hide symptoms and how hard it is because of how people will treat you (ranging from pitying to just thinking you're useless) so its nice to see someone with similar problems get to talk about it and be treated normally. Shout out to connor for being a good friend, too😊
@@aerocard4831 the CVID I'm referring to here is not short for C-19, although I understand the confusion. Its an acronym for the condition Ironmouse has, "Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disorder". It is a auto-immunity disorder and thus makes the body more susceptible to serious illnesses like infections and often have co-morbid (meaning; multiple at once) conditions that are the likely cause of her mobility issues moreso than from the CVID itself.
i totally get mousey on the crying bit. when i had dry needling done for the first time to help my pelvic pain i legit bawled when i realized i wasn’t in any pain for near an hour. you forget what “normal” feels like after a long time and you get so grateful to even be able to experience that feeling again, even if it’s just for a moment. she’s doing so good, and i’m so proud of her progress ❤
A lot of progress Ironmouse has done so far and it's amazing to see her recovery keeping up very well slowly. I also noticed her neutral or maybe just tired voice from her got deeper too! Lungs are doing great for her! :D
As someone who has R.A also known as rheumatoid arthritis I feel her pain bc the R.A affects my legs and hands and walking hurts. It's why I had to finally leave the work force bc of how bad my legs have gotten. I struggle with walking but I still walk to the best ability
I have similar leg issues, so I feel for Mouse. I can't work normal jobs because of how much pain my legs are in after standing for a few of minutes. But I try to increase the endurance, slowly, even though it feels like my shins will break like glass for several days after. I'm praying for Mousey's progress.
Depending on where you live, employers may be required to make reasonable accommodations for disabilities. For example, allowing you to do your work from a wheelchair or other such accommodations.
2:21 yeah most people just take it for granted, one of the things I hate the most is being sick or not being able to do something with my body thats why im always grateful of it when the topic comes up of what do you want and a lot of people say money or work or other things I just say health
"my legs feel like they're gonna break🥲" "you'll get there" "my legs feel like they're breaking!" "yeah but they always get stronger" "but the muscles hurt so bad!!" "you're building" love it!🤣🤣
As someone that had a spinal injury and was severely atrophied from my legs, I can relate. It's so much harder to walk than people realize. The fact we can do it is damn near a miracle. I'm glad she's making progress. Standing on your own two feet is something special - moving to do things on your own like that even more so. Glad to hear she's gradually making progress.
Good to see you Connor contnuing to 'go with the flow' where our 'mousey' is concerned. Alright viewwers. Mousey has NOT only her loss of MUSCLES to worry about but so many other side factors such as BREATHNG, CHRONIC FATIGUE, MEDICINE side effects, how she has to attend to other needs WITH relying on OTHERS ! Love you mousey and yes I KNOW where you are coming from. SLOW and STEADY wins the race ! Your love of and desire to see SPECIAL PEOPLE in your life is as good a tonic as any! I'm cheerng for you ! 🌹
treadmill is actually harder because normally you change your pace when walking but treadmills keep you consistent or you will fall so it burns your stamina faster
It deppends on the type of treadmill tho. If you are using a regular one then yes, but there are also the ones powered by your movement. People often buys those for dogs cus thry cannot give them the propper walks or allow them to run freely in big open spaces. Those are perfect because the faster the dog goes the faster it will move, meaning if they get tired and slow down they will not get pushed backwards. Is more likely the most useful for Mouse and I hope is the one she is using
I had a stroke a couple years ago at 33 and was apparently really close to death (I don't remember much from the first month of the 52 days I was in the hospital). I could not walk for over thirty days, left the hospital in a walker, and now just felt accomplished a couple months ago because I could walk on a treadmill and jog briefly. Like, tears in my eyes, accomplished. You go, girl!
She’s amazing! Especially where she deals with so many issues and medical problems. She’s even helping her parents! I love her heart and kindness and I love how her parents are just as kind. ❤ keep it up queen, don’t give up! We love you!!
OMG the bit about her shoe size is so stinking precious. C: Wow, they have those at toysRus? IM: A size 5, yeah. C: Really, that size? IM: I'm a size 6 (looks nervous) XD
Watching how hard Ironmouse has been working to walk again inspires me so much! I also recently started walking on the treadmill after being bedridden for so long, it just feels comforting knowing there’s someone else out there that knows what it’s like.
I ended up through this similar situation after a staircase accident.. I was without shoes for the past few years, finally got to relearn to walk again last year and... it's surreal sharing this experience but also extremely reassuring and uplifting with how their banter around it goes. I happened to make a similar friend group around this time and they really helped me through it like this. Being able to joke, have lighthearted times with it so it's not all super dark really can make a difference and I'm so glad Mousey has someone like Connor for this 😭💞 I hope our healing journey continues strong and love both your content!!!🥰💕
readjusting and being able to walk and move your arms after being bedridden for even a short period is the hardest thing. so happy for mouse. It took me a little over two months to get my muscle mass back after being intibated for 20 days. So proud of mouse! You got this!
i feel her, durring my late teen years (from 15 to 18) i was mostly sick in bed from my illness to the point my legs lost all the muscle, when i finally could move around it really did feel like everything was like running a marathon
If ever there was a person who deserved a break... I only know these two from youtube clips but I must admit they've captured my heart. I'm hoping sincerely she will live a long and healthy and happy life and connor too
I know what she means with walking. I can only walk for about 10 minutes... But, people do take for granted what mundane things they could do. For over a year when I was a teenager, I got health problems that got me soooooo bad that, thatcI was TERRIFIED of leaving my house or car. I couldn't even picture going to school or walking into stores or being anywhere alone. Finally beat it enough to go back to school.
I ruptured my Achilles Tendon last year and had surgery to reconnect everything - a year down the line and I can still barely get up on my tip toes on that leg a year later even after training and physio - takes time to build all the muscles back up again....Keep going!
A few years ago, my health started to turn pretty bad. Was in the hospital for various infections, and at one point, they considered amputation of my leg. I am slowly recovering, but it takes a lot. I am glad Mousey is doing better.
I love their friendship. Connor and Mouse rib each other to hell and back all the time and it's so fun, but you also see in genuine times like this how considerate and supportive Connor is of Mouse. That has to mean so much.
as a person with friends who go to excursions with me and after like 10 minutes they say "my feet hurt" i stop but mine dont because i was raised in a family that went to the mall all the time
Note: At an average pace, a 10-minute walk is about half a mile. After being bedridden for a while, walking a quarter mile to start out is champion shit.
It’s always nice to check up on these videos and hear how Mousey is doing. I don’t watch her stuff ordinarily, but she seems like a good person. Conner, too.
My wife had a car accident and had to go to physical therapy to re-learn to walk (broke both her legs and had to get a knee replacement) and when she took her first steps i was so proud of her and her progress (yes i cried a little haha) YOU GOT THIS MOUSE!
This is why mouse is amazing. She has a warrior spirit, never give up, never surrender, and never change even with her illness. Mouse, you have as much courage as a soldier would. You have the same qualities. Your a champion mouse.
You don’t really understand how lucky you are to be able to do basic bodily functions until you are unable to do them. After working in medical for 10+ years and seeing people lose the ability to do basic actions, I try not to take anything for granted.
0:07 Mouse: And my legs hurt so much. Connor: Oh, from walking? Mouse: Yeah.. 😞 Connor: Mm... 😣 The little sound of concern from Connor was very sweet. 🥺
I mean walking 5 mins one day and 10 minutes the next is doubling your exercise. I think most people would feel like they’re dying if they doubled their exercise. It’s great that she is walking at all also this model is so cute
Dear people who are starting out excising and feel bad at how little they can do. People who make fun of you for it either don;t know what they are talking about, or are to caught up in their own issues for their opinion to be reliable enough to matter. For the rest of us, you pushing through the pain of something that you weren't prepared for is extremely inspirational. Everyone has to start somewhere so just remember where you are now because if you keep it up, all the more impressive it will be when you look back at it. Congratulations on your new lifestyle. Thank you for the inspiration.
@mouseyDawg in 2020 i was bed ridden for almost a year after a car wreck, and when i starting walking again it was crazy how much pain you will be in! i am so glad you were are able to walk
Having someone close to me who went to rehab just to bring up their strength after years of being bedridden puts into perspective just how hard this must be for Mouse. It's a rough time to relearn, but it will get better. Hopefully, she will get to that point as well.
