I agree! Who would give this gorgeous plant such an unattractive name tho?? 😂 I’d call it “butterfly dinner bell” or something more descriptive! Lolz!!!
They sure do! Living this lifestyle gives me space and time to notice things I might have just walked past before. As this season passes, I absorb more info for my meadow planting this fall. I’m super excited now about all the seasons!! Each brings its own lessons.
I feel so blessed with all my woodland and prairie friends fluttering and scampering about. After watching so many varieties of caterpillars grow up here, its very satisfying now to have them come back to me as adults.
Thank you so much for both watching and subscribing. Always fun to have new blood among us! I had never heard of this plant either before I moved to Missouri. I had probably seen it, but didn't know it's name or anything about it. I love it and will plant it in the new wildflower garden out front.
I almost missed this video! 🙄 Going hiking soon so I’ll have to search Ironweed out and get some seeds! Went hiking last week and was especially looking for milkweed pods. These dry out quickly and the seed just flys away and lands wherever. That’s like strawflowers. Their seeds have wings as well!🤣I throw many seeds of different flowers on the ground now and most generally come up next year! Seed saving is a fun part of the year!
I do hope you enjoy your hike. I’ve done quite a lot of seed saving this season. I do hope that wildflower meadow comes back after he mowed it so severely and I’ll be much braver in my attempts to save seed from there next year. Yes, flying seeds! Lol!! Like my thistle. I even scattered thistle seeds when I could like a ninja seed bomber! Heh heh!! 🥷
@@CiaofCleburne 🤣Thanks for some morning humor! There are so many blooming thistle on the roadside ms right now and I guess that’s one of the reasons why workers are mowing roadsides like crazy here! I’ve looked at weeds on a different level as I’ve got on older. I love and appreciate them so much! They do their duty each year of bringing us so many different shades of color, shape and size! I saved little backyard weeds in my weed book so I can remember who they are. But, oh my, some get to my head!!! Found ironweed on my hike, but couldn’t collect any seed just yet. Happy day my friend!
I know. If we don’t leave plants for pollinators to raise their offspring, who will pollinate our food in the end? That’s why we are such strong advocates for conservation efforts in our area. Love and light.
