These are class 6 roads by the looks of things, you know the roads your town dose not maintain. The road has a large crown and threw frost and so on the rocks have worked there way to the surface causing a rough ride when traveling down the road. The grader will just pop the rocks and push all the nice material to the side so then they will need to truck in extra material to build the road back up, so this way of repairing the road is very nice as it uses the material already down and saves money as there is no trucking or material fees. These guys are pros and they did a great job, if it were a road you lived on you wouldn't be complaining lol.
Should have set it up to drive forward, then the machines could grind, lime or concrete, then drag a vibropack trailer single pass..... I wonder if these would do a good job cutting a fireline?
I need someone to explain why you would take what looked like a pretty good road tear it up with a few hundred thousand dollar machines and then put it back the way it was. And pay all that labor I missed something.
The road must have structural issues. They often do this , normally they'll add lime and mix it in with the machine. Then wet it, grade it and roll it. The process is called stabilisation. So the road is stabilised and should be in better condition and last much longer. The road also often ends up having a slightly increased width which is another bonus.
+Bobby Alley Makes it much easier for the grader to maintain the road so it doesn't have to bounce over those big rocks. Around here (SW Washington) it's not hard to find rock that can be crushed and spread on the roads, but if a source of crushable rock isn't available this looks like it could be the way to go.
+chris inner That is what taxpayer money is for, waste. Gotta give the gubment employees something to do you know. Where else would they spend the graft and favors for all them politicians votes? Notice the feral gubment employee pose? Hands in pockets doing absolutely nothing, just a day out of the office, and outnumbering the contractors. I wonder how much diesel this thing burns?
