Haha thank you for shouting out my site, been really enjoying this series and I'm really amazed/inspired by how well you're able to explain everything. I wasn't expecting you to explain the small non-gameplay details like bounce easing on the buttons but that's so so cool to me that you went ahead and did so anyways For the font generator site, Max Width is simply the max pixel length before the text breaks to the next line- it doesn't resize the bitmap font. So there's no need to change it.
Oh you are kidding me lol - What a moomin I am! I should have checked before I went into all that detain to try to fix it... I experienced a little ugly rasterization scaling when bringing it into Scratch so was trying to force the exact bitmap size.
p.s. You are a most excellent fellow :D - I very much appreciate your kind words of encouragement - You deserve every follow and view you are getting! - Very good job
Thank you so much for these tutorials! My favorite thing about them is that anybody can follow along, experienced or otherwise, and that they can learn from these, while making amazing games! The fact that this series started shortly after the 10th anniversary for Geometry Dash, made me think it was a celebration! Either way, thank you for being in this community with us, and scratch on!
Hi, Griffpatch! If you cannot remember me, I was a young child from some years ago that was OBBSESSED with your tutorials. Now, I'm a bit older. After some years, I just want to say hello again. Happy new 2023!! And have a GREAT day!!!!!
Just an idea for a scratch series: A doom style BSP “binary space partition” engine witch is basically the raycaster but that the map can have stairs and lifts. It would be very cool if griffpatch makes it a tutorial series. It’s the same engine used for the 3D laser tag game by griffpatch.
Me and my brother are working on a geometry dash fan game, and this was the tutorial i was looking for! Im doing the title-screen coding in scratch, then in the editing, we'll cut to the actual gameplay!
Really sorry that I'm currently working on another tutorial of yours and couldn't keep up with this one. Amazing tutorial though, I promise I'll try to make it in the future.
For the ATTEMPTS counter, you could use Griffpatch's Number Counter Tutorial to replace the ugly ATTEMPTS variable, and then make it move with SCROLL SPEED and adding empty boxes above the costumes to make it scroll out of view. You could also use Griffpatch's Health Bar Tutorial to make a percent bar showing how much of the level is left. It's interesting how you can synergize Griffpatch's other tutorials with this one :)
I love your videos so much! Just to make sure, are you ever going to add a y scroll so when I go upwards the screen does too? Otherwise can't wait for episode 6!!!
Nice! Cant wait for episode 6 and here are my suggestions for episode 6 -Make random icons appear on the main menu like in geometry dash -Able to customize your icons and that's all👍😊 Edit: also I did not realize that you switch the 2 next costumes to switch costume block in the level sprite😕😕 Edit 2: Is the next episode coming next week or this week?
Love your Tutorials here are some ideas for Part 6: 1. Customizable Icons 2. Orbs 3. Pause Menu 4. Selecting Levels Menu 5. Ship Gamemode 6. Secret Coins 7. Camera (when you go higher camera follows the player) 8. Camera Shake On Death 9. Practise Mode 10. Portals (like gravity flip) 11. Speed Changes 12. Wave (my favourite gamemode) Thinks that enough and Keep up the good work!
13:34 I think it is most for simple if you change this logic by ((force > 0 and size > target Size) or (force < 0 and size < target size)). In this way you can see the both situation
I love your videos and how dedicated you are to your channel! I was also wondering where you got the fancy blocks (the bit under the slabs and the portals and stuff like that) from in the levels. But apart from that absolutely amazing tutorial and this game is really taking shape!
I have added a simple gravity flip and bounce pad when episode two added real gravity. The bounce pad it's just a forced jump, and the gravity pad just flips gravity from -4 to 4.
@griffpatch i've been working on a GAME called Durpo's Dungeon recently it broke down cause i did save and not save as a copy but ITS BACK :D the platformer series really helped and ive been stuck on making a smooth character select screen like the skin slides to the middle and all :D also, nice work on manuel captions! (like yt's in built one) HAVE A GREAT DAY :D
Hey griffpatch, have you heard of geometry dash 2.2? It's an update coming to the game this month, after the game had no update for 6+ years! It will be adding platformer mode, a new game mode, and much more! I'm very excited for it, and I'm glad to see these tutorials hyping up geometry dash even more!
Thank you very much griffpatch for this amazing tutorial. I've tried to make GD for so long in scratch and now my dream becomes true. Could you please add in your next episode how we can go up further, make an end or create separated levels ? I'm trying to make all levels, and I'm stuck at the staircase of stereo madness bc I can't go further and I can't make new levels while waiting...
I know it's not like that in the official GD, but you could move the ground in the menu sprite up or down a little so there's a difference between the menu and the game i hope that makes sense
Hi griffpatch I wanted to know how you made those sick looking pillars on top of blocks where you have to jump ,but you also don't collide with the pillars. Also the pillars hanging down from the block? and what about those pink looking spikes below jumping blocks. Can you please make a tutorial on that. Thanks!
Oh but from your geometry dash v1.5 game I copied the pillars and uploaded it into my game but i still collide do you think you can make a video please or if a video isn't possible can you teach me? Thanks!
Hey griffpatch! I was wondering if you could add a small icon kit with scratch themed icons, like appel, scratch cat, and some of the sprites from the choose a costume menu!
Thank you! ❤ you helped me make my very own game and it actually feels very well polished! I used some of the scratch dash tutorials to help make a woodcutter game and some new games I’m working on right now!
Hello Griffpatch! I really love the raycasting 3D project, but it really misses a floor and a roof... is there any way we could get a tutorial maybe for 3d objects? and roof/floor tiles? would be really cool to push scratch to its limits again! Thanks
An idea for the next video is that you can add so when the blocks on the level dissapear from the screen the like sink in to the ground and fade out, just like in the real game.
