@@virtualaviator21156 P3D has them ALL, the full fleet: Everything from Carenado/Alabeo, every single study level plane from PMDG from the 737 to the Queen of the Skies and the 777, (probably but not sure) the Alabeo A2A Accusim Cessna, the good old study-level Captain Sim 757 767 and 777 Prepar3D/Cargo version, and many more.... In Flight Simulator 2020 only the PMDG Cloudmaster, 3 good Carenados, and the Aerosoft CRJ700 have arrived, and the PMDG 737 and the Fenix Airbus will probably take two more years of development (and the FS2020 PMDG Queen of the Skies version will take even longer.) P3D has such an immense head-start that it will probably take five years until FS20 will have the similar illustrious collection of study-level AAA planes to fully dive into flight simming. That´s why it´s still necessary to have P3D, X-Plane and FS2020 installed to have the maximum selection of great AAA addon-airplanes :) But in ~two years when another small wave of triple-A study-level planes will arrive like the PMDG737 and an early access Fenix Airbus for FS20 - the FS20 will become one of the topmost sims.

P3D is worth it. As a RL pilot and ATPL student it helped (and is still helping me) me a lot. MSFS without addons is a game to me (the only aircraft worth flying at the moment are Aerosoft CRJ and PMDG DC-6 in my opinion). If you want a realistic plane in msfs, wait out for the Fenix A320. This will be the plane that will make me fly in msfs. For now, it likks beautiful but the plane physics feel odd and "rc-plane-like" if you know what I mean.

@@TWCHHK I think Fenix A320 will also make me buy MSFS if they bring it to a level of FSLabs or better. I am also waiting for a 100% realistic GTN and GNS simulation like RealityXP, because RXP GNS and GTN are 100% the same as real unit and they are emulating the actual software that is on a real Garmin unit. I saw that there is a payware GTN for MSFS but from what I have seen, its not realistic and its using the default MSFS navigation logic.

Six months ago I was so jealous! A study-level Airliner and even the cargo is loaded in fully animated... But now after having bought the Fenix Airbus and being familiarized with it - I know that the Fenix is the new state of the art and best of the best. Even all circuit breakers are simulated. No longer can everyone say "hm that Flight Simulator that´s just for kids buzzing around with small arcade propeller planes over their house but X-Plane and Prepar3D are real simulators..." The Fenix Airbus cannot be bought for any other simulator except FS20 and it´s the best of the best. With the best and most sophisticated and detailed MCDU (FMC) the best and most detailed systems and subsystems in the cockpit, fully pneumatic hydraulic and electric circuits animated and able to degrade, even the temperatur and flow of the packs is fully simulated and the PAX and cargo room temperature is based on the PAX numbers and cargo load. Now I am finally no longer jealous about all other sims having these awesome airliners and I don´t! But it´s still interesting to see what will come next: The PMDG 777 which is also one of my favorites with this cozy uniqué cockpit design and spacy neon-green overhead and main panel integr-illumination, and many visual gimmicks to have some eye-candy to enjoy while immersing onself into the cockpit. Worldwide there is now only one other sim airplane that has some interesting features not even the Fenix AIrbus has, and that´s the Hotstart Challenger with fully simulated airflow through the turbine showing all temperatures between the compressor stages and other ultra-techy engineer-nerdy stuff.
@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 2 года назад
Yeah absolutely, the Fenix A320 and PMDG 737 are very high quality airliners for MSFS and it’s great that finally there’s some detailed airliner addons in MSFS. Of course we still have to wait for more models to be ready for MSFS like the 777, 787, 747, 330 etc, but at least the future will only get better!

The problem with FS2020 is that it is not meant for in depth simulation. It is an entertainment product. I have spoken to some very knowledgeable people and I have read enough from even more knowledgeable people to know that at a fundamental level, FS2020 is not designed to have avionics as complex as P3D, running as smoothly as P3D. This issue is somewhat masked by FS2020's more efficient graphics engine, but the JS/HTML used for avionics is orders of magnitude slower than a C++ implementation. PMDG wrangling their addons into FS2020 is more of a challenge than when they first wrangled their addons into FS9. At least FS9 was way more open than FS2020. And according to PMDG themselves, the support for developing and debugging complex addons is non-existent. They said they need to use P3D to develop addons for FS2020. That is embarrassing. And even if we stop looking at complex airliners and instead look at small GA planes buzzing around, doing sight seeing, it is still plenty apparent to anyone that FS2020 does not want the user to have to deal with any of the realities of flight. Aerodynamic effects are dumbed down to not get you in trouble. The controls are made unrealistic on purpose for the same reason. Load up an Icon A5, and move your joystick from side to side and back and forth and observe what the in sim stick is doing. And while the aerodynamics out of the box are definitely better than P3D or FSX defaults, they are not that good. They do not match with X-Plane aerodynamics, or with realistic P3D addons such as those by A2A. And developers have been pointing out these things from the start. In some cases, even before the start, from early beta. They have been trying to get through to Microsoft and Asobo with constructive criticism, trying to accomplish what Microsoft was advertising: the simulator that simmers have been dreaming of. But the fact that Microsoft have completely ignored most of these developers and have taken on board a novice developer team with next to no experience that have never worked on a flight simulator addon before speaks volumes of their strategy. FS2020 is what it is: An entertainment product posing as a sim, that developers with enough time and resources on their hands can occasionally wrangle into a working simulation. I gave up on it a long time ago, but I am hoping PMDG's 737 and A2A's Comanche will make it worth while. As always, it is up to the developers to save a flight simulator, as they did with FSX. Too bad Microsoft has nothing but contempt for third party developers.

MFS2020 is a game (or a scenery sim). P3D and XP are sims. MFS2020 is perfect for VFR flight with GA planes or introducing more people into flight sim, just get a standard version and you are good to go. However, if you really want to dig into the systems of complex modern aircraft, P3D and XP are the best. I only got less than 100 hours in P3D but 2800 hours in XP11, the only reason is I realized how much money I have to spend in order to make P3D looks great, not even to mention super expensive addons like FSL. XP11 is a happy middle ground for me, default airports are up to date and Zibo alone won't lose a battle against PMDG 737. Great video!
@TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 2 года назад
Agreed. I started with P3D about 2 and a half years ago but before that I used XP11. I uninstalled XP about a year ago because I essentially stopped using it but for a period of time I was using P3D for long hauls in the 777/747/787 and XP for short hauls in the 737/320. Both sims are great and I’ll certainly be trying out XP12. MSFS just doesn’t have the aircraft right now for me to do airline flight simming, but it’s amazing for GA and certainly has the potential

@OrionRox
@OrionRox 2 года назад
@@Caramellino11 Unfortunately, it is a game at the current stage. Asobo designed the entier control response based on the controller, I've never met any flight sims that required users to set the response curve to -50 in order to fly the aircraft (it was fine during the early beta when they just released it, and they changed the control response.), not even mention how Asobo broke the game after each SU, plus all those money-grabbing garbage addons by the third party, each steps Asobo did was to pulling MSFS away from the core flight sim community. I don't care how many 'handcrafted' airports or how stunning the MSFS looks, I want to focus on my instruments in the IMC without worry the outside temperature rising up to 200 degrees. I don't care how advanced the flight model that Asobo advertised, I don't want a heavy 747 handle like a GA. The list can go on... No simulators should behave like this.
@ziko646
@ziko646 2 года назад
P3D is also a game, the only difference is MFS looks so much better, more advanced, evolutionary.. I just wonder how P3D fans think their game "sim" looks good when everything including sky and scenery look too grey.. sorry P3D is nowhere close to MFS.
@OrionRox
@OrionRox 2 года назад
@@ziko646 Forgive me if I guess it wrong, the comment you said basically shows you have little to none experience with p3d or XP. As I said, MFS2020 looks stunning and opens the door to non-flight simmers, which is amazing, but that's about it. A good FLIGHT SIMULATOR platform is all about aircraft system depth and what kind of packages (APIs) that MFS2020 could provide to 3rd party aircraft developers, at the current stage, MFS2020 is doing a terrible job to fulfill this. Perhaps you could elaborate more about how MFS2020 is more advanced or evolutionary besides the looks.

Awesome video. One thing MS2020 has is wet ground, which is great for realism. It is raining on this occasion and I don't see a wet ground! Sure it ain't dead. The same way X-plane isn't either. MS2020 does not have a single decent airliner by a 3rd party developer. We have the A32N by Fly-By-Wire which is free for all and that is it. The thing is, why do people flight-sim? In my case I did not switch to Xplane from FSX, almost a decade ago, for the looks of it. I did it because of flight dynamics, although terrible physics, it had some. MS2020 is awesome in that perpective, I love handflying it. But yeah, we've come a long way, at least I have, since MSFS95. Cheers

Lol I remember packing up my VHS video tapes in 2006 and now DVD are going away. I used my FS 9 (FS2004) until MSFS came out because FSX wouldn’t run on my PC. There is no way that P3D will be better than MSFS in the next few years when Dev move there technology over and abandon the 16 year old Sim. So far I’ve enjoyed so much but was not happy with Update 5 for the Xboxers which they should have their on platform that would cater to the limited controls of the Xbox….lol. By the way I just got away from my iPhone 5 last summer only after the phone co gave me a new one for free because 3G was going away this month.

I own P3D 5.3, X-Plane 11.55 and MSFS 2020. In my opinion, X-Plane’s flight model is the best and their stock scenery the worst. MSFS has the best lighting, scenery and graphics and the stock flight dynamics are the worst. P3D is very close to X-Plane in flight model but inferior to MSFS in lighting, graphics and scenery. To me, unless my objective is training I would rather fly in a simulator that replicates the real world as closely as possible rather than one which replicates the airplane as closely as possible. To my knowledge, none of the three qualify for actual simulation training under U.S law on most home hardware systems.

@@TheFlightShow . In no wind add 5knots to ref speed. With winds add 1/2 the steady state headwind component and all of the gust. Plan to touch down at no less than ref minus 5knots. If a gust additive is applied touch down with that. For example say your landing on runway 36 and winds are from 060@15kts Gusting to 20kts. The headwind component is 8kts the gust factor is 5kts. If your Vref is 150 knots set the speed bug for 163. When you touchdown speed should be no less than 155. Speed relates to Angle of attack too slow and you risk excessive sink rates and tail strikes.

How come there are no shadows rendered? I don't have it but P3D is a pretty advanced sim so I assume it's just a graphics setting that's been turned off. The lighting just renders as the general darkness with bright areas where light sources are projected - none of the darkness appears to be from objects blocking light sources. With everything else looking such high quality, it just looks a bit jarring without the shadows. That said I love the camera shake on landing. Looks really realistic.

Well, those long haul aircraft are gonna come to MSFS eventually, it just might take 2-4 years. So if you don’t want to wait then buying P3D would be a good option. Just be prepared that to make P3D worthwhile you’d need to spend at least $300 on the sim itself, aircraft, Chaseplane (camera system), active sky (weather system) - and that’s not including payware airport sceneries. There isn’t really any good freeware for P3D airports. So I guess it’s worth buying if you’re desperate to fly high quality long haul aircraft.

Not sure if you used ORBX Melbourne and FSDT LAX for your flight, but I’d recommend sceneries from ORBX, FlightBeam, FlyTampa and Aerosoft. FSDreamTeam (FSDT) has terrible performance (including LAX) so I wouldn’t really recommend them, but they make some of the most popular airports (including LAX!). @TheFlightShow
@TheFlightShow 2 года назад
While the base Prepar3D software is only 60 or 200 dollars, all the expensive addons that I (and most people) use to make the sim worth buying add up very quickly to hundreds and hundreds of dollars. For example the aircraft used in this video cost a total of $220. The Chicago airport and city scenery (which I unfortunately was covered up by the weather) cost a total of €65. The Shenzhen airport scenery cost €28. The //42 Immersion cost $19. Chaseplane (essential because the default camera system is horrific) cost another $32. Add on the combined cost of ORBX Global Base, Vector, OpenLC North America, Buildings HD, and Terraflora v2, and you’ve spent another $183. Active Sky (essential for the weather) costs another €48, and GSX (used for the ground handling/pushback) costs £23. These are just some of the addons used in THIS video, never mind all the other aircraft and sceneries that weren’t used for this flight/video. Hopefully now you understand
@davidrosenblum2178
@davidrosenblum2178 2 года назад
@@TheFlightShow understood, but that is true of MSFS as well insofar as adding aircraft and scenery are concerned. No way around it, this is not an inexpensive hobby if one wants to do it right. I think the MSFS2020 is unbeatable in terms of graphics, but the aircraft offered (exept of some smaller 3rd party aircrafts and f.e. the Aerosoft CRJ700 and the FBW Airbus) so far do not yet have the system depth, such as the PMDG, PSS or other payware for the FS2004/FSX and P3D. Therefore, from time to time I still fly the PSS 757 or 777 or Boeing 737 from PMDG in FS2004 (FS9.1). But I also invested a lot in add-ons and therefore my FS2004 looks very good. Without addons, it is unfortunately very outdated. In the long run, the MSFS2020 will certainly prevail, but Asobo and the Payware developers still have to deliver to represent and simulate even complex aircraft. I think it also depend on what you want: A beautiful scenery or very detailed and deep simulated aircrafts. Do you want to fly just around and enjoying the scenery or do you need a perfect base for navigation and simulating close to reality? MSFS 2020 has still some weakness in perfect navigation- FS2004 is better - ILS and VOR Navigation is more accurate. But soon FS2004/FSX and P3D will be outdated when MSFS 2020 becomes a serious platform.
