Last I checked the Northern Demons (assuming this... thing... even is one) were rather indiscriminately dangerous to _everybody_ so, like, _yeah._ You'd need to have your head rammed pretty far up your ass to not check one merely because that doesn't jive with your firm's nominal business plan. Which is BS anyway, it's no secret by now that Kalt set up the outfit as all-purpose countermeasure against any and all threats to human civilization.
I understand when enemy info is obscured for plot reasons sometimes but it really should be available before your first attempt of a stage in most cases.
IS#1: silly dog high off her ass on shrooms in a jungle IS#2: creepy theater troupe causing problems IS#3: ocean-dwelling hive mind tries to eat the planet (again) IS#4: we are fighting space itself (plus some crackheads that don't want us there apparently) very reasonable escalation clear and achievable goal (probably) :3 "I know we said we'd do whatever it took but I get the feeling that fighting a literal singularity isn't covered by insurance...or mentioned in the contract... Wouldn't it be better to go ahead and leave?"
Tbf the Crimson Troupe is just as dangerous as the seaborn or the collapsals, given that they’re out to destroy the world too (albeit in a different way).
Warning This is NOT the WMD It has been confirmed that this Boss is JUST AN ANOMALY We have NO CONFIRMED VISUAL of the WMD so far. You didnt run far enough, Dimitri. *Welcome back to the Exclusion Zone*
I guess this is how the devs meeting went when they planned is4 Dev1: so any ideas on a new boss that overleveled dokutahs can't spawn camp and be deleted to oblivion after a single burst? Dev2: how about we make him invulnerable the moment he spawns that should do the work Dev1: oh great idea! Anything more to add? Dev2: let's give it a skill that can reduce their dps so that it can live longer and give more challenge since our playerbase love challenge Dev1: oh nice! And since they love challenge how about we make it permanently invulnerable? Dev2: isn't that impossible to kill? Dev1: any idea how to balance it? I don't want to remove the permanent invulnerability it seems like a mechanic those insane guys would like Dev2: how about we give them a device that makes it possible to attack for a brief moment? Dev1: ohhh! That's great this will surely satisfy those lunatics desire for challenge I can already picture them losing their sanity fighting this guy
Usually Show bosses when I actually win but I'll make an exception for this one and use my first blind run instead. First of all I wanna say that I'm happy HG is open to experimenting with weird ass bosses like this, it's important to keep trying knew things. The boss itself work like this - It teleports around the map while being invincible You have a device in the middle that you can use to make the boss vulnerable for a couple seconds, I think the way it works atm is not ideal because the window is way too short and it forces you into only using instant burst ops as dps because of it. it attacks 2 ops with arts damage and slowly covers the map in the pink goo (slows aspd) ASPD being slowed doesn't hurt much because you need skill based burst to meaningfully hurt it in the small windows it gives you. There is some 2nd phase I never got to see, I'll get to that next time. I feel bosses that troll you are sort of a theme here with the ending 2 boss doing something similair with his wraith rush. This boss is also extra dangerous when you see it for the first time as you're on the clock to kill it and confusion can waste valuable time think correct way to approach this fight is to split the squad in two each holding a teleport point opposite of each other (due to the device charge time) and then hit him from the start on every 2nd teleport Other option: As far as I can tell device can stack charges(loads while full) and get a larger skill rotation off at one teleport I'll try it again later
The Seedbed(pink goo) will make Friendly Units(that includes the Shieldguard you can summon) in it take more Arts damage from the boss as well as having -50 ASPD, device when activated makes the boss vulnerable for 5 seconds, when overcharged makes the boss vulnerable for 10 seconds and clear an area(5 by 5 missing corners) of Seedbed. The boss off themselves after 600 seconds(10 minutes) if not killed by you, with it exploding and taking 30 Life Points off of you and disappearing.
Having to wait 40/80 second just to make this thing killable in 5/10 seconds is... urgh And the device should only be activated when the boss is in the killbox(es) to best capitalize on the limited time. Ouch
The most painful thing is the boss trolling, in ending 2 the boss start running while this straight up do 3 jump. Imagine set up burst camp and the boss do 3 jump skipping your burst camp. I think the boss mechanic tied up to number of seedbed (pink tile). More seedbed = more aggressive boss and you instantly lose after 600 seconds or the boss cover the whole map with seedbed
Ah yes; eldritch horrors. Rhodes island sure like dealing with world ending threats....i wonder what those people of terra reaction on rhodes being "phamaceutical company". But yeah, essence of evolution; that boss from dorothy and this boss will be great buddies if they meet though.
I see, you need to acitvate the totem in the center to be able to briefly attack the boss. I can imagine this boss being incredibly hard for a 4-star squad, since 4-star burst damage options are pretty uncommon.
WTF am I looking at? *That, my friend, is Chaos Deamon's true form. Specifically, Khornate one.* There is a reason Kislev equip their force with gunpowder weapons to combat them. And oh, *they are on the offensive to save their god.* ;)
Acute lack of gnarly sharp implements and gratuitous brass ornamentation rules Khorneflakes _right out._ Kinda resembles some of the more balls-out bizarre alien species in 40k fluff tho.
There's some evidence from what we learned from Friston in Lone Trail to suggest that there is a door/portal in the northern ice fields left behind by the ancient race on Terra (doctor's and priestess' people). Knowing what little we do about the sky barrier around the planet, the doorway could have been a way to transport people and goods while circumventing the barrier. However, since most of the IS4 theme appears to be tackling a very dangerous expedition not only into the northern wastes overrun by the demons/fractals, I strongly suspect that whatever technology or security system that had been left in place near the portal is almost completely gone (it's remarkable that the portal gateway map has a device capable of destabilizing a fractal for a short time). There's a lot of unanswered lore questions I'm looking forward to finding out from clearing the myriad endings multiple times. It took us most of the way through IS3 for us to learn about the origins of the seaborn and their nearly-forgotten Caerula leviathan, so I'm hoping we'll eventually get to learn about what the heck the ancients were doing with the portal ... and whether the demons/fractals were a problem that emerged after the ancients' extinction or before.
Me: So HG I was wondering when will you release a new multiplayer event, it was a lot of fun you know? HG: Yes yes we have the new rougelike with even more bs and cosmic horror right here! Me: Right....
So i haven't read everything yet on joklumarkar but if this guy is a product of the big iceberg thing i think it might be one of the Leviathans wich one is called to be or like giant iceberg covered in "snow" that do is likely not snow wich might be more like the big plancton related Leviathan That or just a concentration of those evil spirits from the region Feel absolutely free to correct me if you possess the more correct response 'o' right now was just my thought on this thing, on the fighting aspect tho prob gonna be a nuisance
That one's just a big old ball of fire when you get down to it tho. This guy vibes more like Daoloth, the Tearer of Veils or however the epithet of that classic piece of hyperdimensional mindfuckery now went.
I happened to get spoiled about the boss mechanics before attempting the stage, I was like "10 seconds is a pretty good amount of time surely I can just do this with my usual squad." As it turned out, 10 seconds was not a lot of time. Seems like you really need manual trigger burst ops for this...
Dobberman: Move the reserve team A to the front, we need back up. Hold the line, Rosmantis is going to blow that thing back to void dimension it came from.... Wait, are we still shooting the recruitment ads? Amiya, bowing profusely: I swear, we are a pharmaceutical company.
