7:03-10:43 My opinion and concluding thoughts
Eastar had a representative reach out to me to review their $100 trumpet. They sent one to me for free on merely my word of mouth that I would review it for them, so here is that review! It's not bad for what it is, though I still personally prefer my Yamaha YTR-232s (granted that goes for around $300). So yeah, if you are someone whom wants to get into playing trumpet but don't want to spend a ton of money, this isn't a bad option.
I may use it in my covers whenever I do layering of trumpets, because different timbres help for layering.

My first trumpet was $60 and we had to straighten out the bell with a mallet. It actually played surprisingly well... I still have it laying around 10 years later.

Haha, that's a vibe right there. There was a trumpet my band director kept around which had been severely beaten up for some reason, it was mangled. Still played fine! Lol

Any professional trumpet player can make these sound good. A professional trumpet player can make a garden hose and a funnel sound good. The issue is the poor-quality alloys used to make these, and the poor manufacture of the pistons and the valve slides, which constantly stick and seize up during performances. And when they break, professional instrument repair techs won't touch them because 1). the Chinese manufacturers don't distribute spare parts to the western world, 2). the metal has such a low melting point, they can't touch them with a soldering iron.

I had no issues of seizure the short time I used it, I wouldn't be surprised at the rest of your statement though. No way to produce something that should cost nearly $300 and sell it for $100 to make money. Corners will be cut. That's why ultimately my recommendation is that it's a great alternative to renting if you pursue the hobby longer term, but it's by no means an astounding rugged masterpiece.

I use that exact model in middle school, still have it now.. What I realize is that,it sound great but kinda hard to maintain, with my trumpet now the ETR actually need more push to make sound.. But moreover its a great model and I still play it now as my practice trumpet

I picked trumpet back up at thirty-five and purchased this model to take lessons with. Its been okay, its not great, but okay for beginners. I will say that its not very forgiving to wear that can be imposed on it from new players in my experience with it. For example, about three months in now and my first valve is wearing unevenly and sticking. I've stripped and cleaned it several times and it does appear to be wear and not just dirty. Im already looking for something a bit better.

Sorry I know this is an older post. When I was in school in the late 80’s if you wanted to go to college and continue with music, they encouraged you to know 2 instruments. I play trumpet and at that time I was discouraged from learning any woodwind instruments, I think I’m not sure, it was because of how we use our mouths is different and would make it very difficult. This was a very long time ago so I don’t know if the same theory still holds true. I don’t want to discourage you, just understand if you’re having trouble and it’s difficult it might be because of the different muscles or whatever that is being used. Along with just learning a new instrument you’re a beginner all over again. Again I’m not discouraging you I love the trumpet, and take what I said with a huge grain of salt. Like a salt mines worth. I hope you do pick up the trumpet and learn to enjoy it’s beauty.

you will see a instant huge improvement on tone quality and volume if you get a more expensive instrument and most likely a different mouthpiece from a 7c which is what most trumpets come with.

A lot of these Chinese instruments are made in the same place with different names stamped on them for different distributors. The Eastar and Eastrock trumpets do look pretty identical so they do likely come from the same factory.

My trumpet is not professional, I state in the video (or so I thought I did) that it is a $300 student trumpet. The goal wasn't to compare $100 trumpet vs $100 trumpet, the goal was to compare a $100 trumpet so a slightly nicer yet far more expensive one.
