Sorry about that - I have the RODE wireless mic and must have had some settings wrong. Maybe if I do a follow up I'll do a better job of testing the stereo first. Thanks for the feedback!
Sold! I've been perusing other Espresso machines websites, videos etc and yours in my opinion is the best hands down. It's one thing to see it from the manufacturers viewpoint, which of course will be positive as they want to sell it. But coming from a consumer's point of view with no incentive/sponsorship etc means much more to me. I was pretty much leaning towards this one but your video has confirmed that decision for me. Thank you for taking the time to film this video. And you're right, there aren't many videos on this machine out there from a consumers viewpoint. Thanks again 😊
I've watched a dozen reviews on this machine, and this might be the best of them all. I think it's the only one where anyone makes normal coffee. Finally!
Nice walk through. When I started to drink coffee at the age around 27.. i know started late. I knew it would be addictive. I buy coffee almost everyday. I realized home made coffee taste better than Starbucks too. I can taste and smell the aroma. So why not buy a coffee machine that I enjoy everyday. Can't wait till mine get here. Ordered yesterday.
Great review and video...my daughter is a coffee MONSTER...she's constantly going by SB and getting 5-8 shots of espresso on Ice...she LOVES COFFEE! That being said I told her it was time for her to invest in one of these machines. She's going with the varient model or the 3200 that has the Ice coffee function instead of the Americano. As others have pointed out...ya you didn't factor in the cost of beans and stuff but the math and savings is there. I sat down with my daughter and we calculated she'll break even in 7 months and then she'll be saving over $160 a month...it just makes since.🤷♂️
That's not true. These machines are extremely unreliable. There seems to be a huge problems with the heating unit and grinder itself. Friends of mine bought this model together with 2000 series and they had to get their money for the warranty back.
Just like Lukas says it won't last 2years. The milk cup wears down and it cost around 40-50$ to buy. Then is the grinder and the rubber rings around it. If it is in warranty you are safe. If not then it costs 200-400$ to fix. Which is yaics alert.
Would you say this espresso/double espresso can compete with a jura espresso/double espresso? Making my decision between this and Jura comparable unit soon Thank in advance.
@@Payton77 I don't know the Jura so I can't comment on it. All I know is the Saeco/Philips is a great investment. We end up replacing our 12 years old Saeco Odea Giro with a 5400 Series. Totally satisfied with it.
@@rashasarandah1695I tried everything and still didn’t like it so I returned it and bought a used breville touch and it’s a night and day difference. But you gotta watch some videos in how to make a nice expresso. Rich and bold coffee with a nice crema. I love it
Got my machine a couple days ago and the first time I tried to make a cappuccino it spat out the milk, ground coffee twice and then didn't pour any into the cup. I just made a cappuccino now it is is perfect. Used the highest been and size setting. I am now a happy man.
You barely touched on the most important part of this, which is how the milk container is cleaned! It’s their most impressive innovation. A lot of latte machines have a tube or straw that needs cleaning and will ultimately have to be replaced because it will get moldy. This one has a two part cup that splits the entire “straw” in half (it’s molded into both parts of the cup) exposing both halves completely, so you can clean it from the inside, rather than from either end with a straw brush. It’s a miracle of engineering! Having said that, I am a bit of a coffee snob who drinks very little coffee, and this machine doesn’t really inspire me with its coffee quality. It’s what I would rate as “quite good”, which might sound ironic, but I did say I’m a coffee snob. Most people will love it, so I still recommend it to anyone who asks. I suppose I see it as less than or equal to Starbucks in quality.
@@moomin534 breville barista express has a built-in burr grinder, frother and seems to last, going on 4 years. not the best but very high value at $700ish. It's an espresso machine but the frother allows you to make a lot of other stuff and to tune to your taste. Not as automated as this machine, but it's not hard to clean- you will need to do periodic full cleaning operations maybe once every other month. youtube will explain how.
Great review! Couple of notes though: in your calculations to justify the price of this you forgot to include the price of the coffee beans (which could be expensive depending on your preference). Also, with these machines you have to take out the brew unit and clean it from time to time under running water. I had genuine Saeco back in the day, and it lasted me 11 years, but with Phillips acquired Saeco, the quality of these machines dropped significantly, and their brew units tend to leak and stall from air trapped inside. Finally a tip - use filtered water with it and you don't have to descale and use the filter in the water tank.
I just got a brand new 2200 series model at a silent auction for $360! Very similar. Just no latte button & a minus a couple other options, but it's fine for my needs. Set it up & played around with it this morning, and love it so far. The milk steamer is pretty ingenious.
except the fact that my left ear is unpleased with it being left out for about half of the video, I find your review really interesting. You clearly sold me on that LatteGo
Good review! I have been using these machines for 0ver 10 years and will never go back. I have had Saeco and now Phillips which bought Saeco. Cant beat the coffee that pours out of these. Just keep the Descaling up when prompted. Also a tip I have seen from like Seattle Coffee which sells these is to stick your cup in the microwave for a minute prior to the pour.
Great review and awesome style. Not to mention you sounded exactly like Wags on the show, Billions. First 15 seconds I did watch the video I just listened and I did. Double take, lol.
A few questions: 1. If I want a regular latte (more milk) instead of a latte machiato, is there an easy quick way to program it for a heavy milk drink? That is important to me. 2. If I only want to steam milk but no coffee, can I do that? 3. If you want a double or triple espresso, can it do that in one shot? 4. Is there a seal between the water tank and the base? Do you feel that you have adequate amounts of water? 5. When you say "it's not super hot," do you mean the espresso or the milk that isn't hot? Thanks.
No you need a double which you better you finish your drink and do another espresso shot let it go in the same glass. For less money now the terra Kaffe does all that but I love the fact that the milk does not go into a seperate line into the group head. That’s nice
What a fantastic well explained video, have been thinking for long time to buy one of these and now you made up my mind going to order one right away,Thanks again enjoyed watching,Oh en first class camera.
Definitely if you're a daily coffee drinker, you will recover your investment after the first year. Even more if your drink multiple cups during the day like you do👍
excelllent presentation . nice clear voice and slow enough speed i could follow. if anything i wish u would do a video from taking it out of the box to first time use .
Hello I just bought the same machine when you I’m trying to learn how to use it your video was easy to learn one thing are you using espresso beans for your cup of coffee or regular coffee beans like Folgers or can you use both beans one for espresso then the other for reg coffee ? Does it make reg coffee ?
I bought a 4300 2 months ago and I love it, at the beginning I was feeling that the coffee wasn't strong enough to my taste, but now I think it's okay. I keep the coffee setting at the most strong possible and stead of add more water, I do a double dose, it's even better :) Regards from Montreal.
dude, that's an insane amount of coffee, please rethink your caffeine intake as im 70kg and do the smallest dose and if I drink the whole cup i start to tremble for 1-2 hours
Mine already reach 2 year +.. The only problem happen one time when the grinder cannot grind due to bean stuck inside .. So have to open the upper lid and clean up the grinder mechanism .. Once u open.. U can see how they work and clean up some mess inside 😂.. Anyway its a good purchase and totally worth it
Thank you very much for this. I just saw it on sale at Costco. I live in Taiwan and most of the coffee machines here run at between $3,000 to $8,000. The other videos that I watch world basically infomercials. One thing that I did see that I'm not sure if you know about though is that they said in the manual there's a way to adjust the heat level so that it will come out hotter. I'm not sure if this is true or what. One other thing I didn't think about was the price break down. Going to a coffee shop here is even much worse than it is back home in Canada. The average coffee here is about $5 and special drinks can run over $10 depending on where you go. Thanks again for the review. It's really nice to hear somebody talking so straightforward and not trying to sound like they're an infomercial.
You can adjust the water temperature though it's not obvious how. It involves pressing the coffee quantity button when the unit is off. After a few seconds you can adjust the temperature by selecting 1,2,3 from the coffee quantity button.
I have owned this machine for 3 months and I love it. If I have one suggestion it would be to explain the three buttons to the right of your coffee choices, to explain the bypass for ground coffee and to teach how to froth the milk without choosing a coffee choice by hitting the ground coffee choice without the coffee actually in the machine. The machine thinks it has coffee to deliver but instead, you get your frothed milk. Also, you can use other milks such as oat, almond, rice, etc in your frother. Love love love this machine!!!
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for in the comments. In my home we don’t drink cows milk, and I usually just add my own frothed milk after I make the coffee, so I appreciate you explaining this feature. 👍
I am actually sitting here waiting for my 4300 Lattego to arrive. I also drink a lot of coffee and have an old Kurieg that this going to replace. Looking forward to it. Oh actually this is going to replace both my Kurieg and my wife's Nespresso machine
LOL - good review. in terms of pricing this is the cheapest option for this level of coffee maker (bean to cup) with its features - there are some 12 different grind settings.
Great video thank you. I’m looking now for a comparison video between say this exact automatic espresso machine to the Breville Barista Express Impress. In Vancouver Canada for our black Friday sale week they are both on great sales yours is $899cdn and the Barista Express Impress is $999cdn. Great sale saving about $300. The original Breville Barista Express is now $700cdn on sale. But that one I tried multiple machines last few years and all(4 machines) I had to return because they all broke down in different ways or was just crappy in different ways not working properly. I couldn’t seem to purchase one that was just made correctly!! And they were all new!! So anyway I wanted to treat myself this year and I can’t figure out what I want the upgraded Barista Express Impress with the automatic grind and tamp option making it done perfectly (hopefully it actually works properly) each time and all I have to do is move it over to get the water through it and froth my milk manually when I want a latte. Or go the fully automatic way of this machine that I simply press two buttons and done!! I’m a 50% of the time americano and 50% of the time latte drinker. I do appreciate your info that the milk could be hotter on your machine. I find that very helpful for my pros and cons list. Such an expensive purchase. I do like that your machine can brew regular coffee as welll so that’s a serious bonus because of course my husband is a watered down coffee drinker usually getting XL coffees at McDonalds! What I really would like to know is if the milk frother on your machine creates sweet milk or if it’s just warmed milk? If that makes sense. If milk is done correctly it turned it into such a different product then simply warmed or steamed milk. Correctly done it’s incredibly smooth, almost velvety and noticeably sweeter in the coffee. Makes a much better americano with just a bit of properly done milk instead of cold milk from fridge. And lattes of course taste a world better made properly. The main reason I’m getting a machine or trying again to get a working machine is that everyday I get a Starbucks from my local 3 Starbucks locations and I have to rotate my locations because 75% of the time, more accurately 4 out of 7 coffees I get are made horribly wrong at Starbucks. It’s incredibly frustrating and they always just replace the next coffee and give credit for another one to say sorry. But it’s been happening for years and I’m so very tired of getting 4 bad coffees a week. It help with making the overall coffee bill less with all the free and replacements but I just want consistency. My drink is a extremely basic drink and these so called baristas can’t even get the correct amount of cream in a cup and they brew horrible bitter to the point of can’t even choke it down drip coffee most of the afternoons. I’ve had the managers continuously try their coffees when I bring it back, they get one made on the spot and they can’t believe so many errors and how gross it is literally 4x a week! Anyway sorry for my rant, I just wonder if the automatic coffee maker makes the same quality drink that the Breville can make? I need a comparison between those models, if you see any please let me know the videos and I’ll watch! I appreciate your video thank you 🙏
I have 1647 drinks on my 5400. At a cost of let’s say 5 dollars that comes to 8235 dollars in drinks. I have 1k in the machine 350 in beans, 100 in maintenance things, and 40 in sugar free syrups. I’m ahead and the machine is worth it at 14 months.
Excellent review. !!! It took me about 6 months to justify the price but now that I have it it think it’s worth every penny. I do too use the coffee option. There is no comparison. Thank you for video.
Scored a new one sealed for 425 with 8% cashback so around 380 total. Very happy with it after trying it this morning, very simple same with the setup. Also considering it grinds the beans to medium-fine quickly its not the noisiest
"It might sound like it's a lot of coffee, that's because it's a lot of coffee". LMAO! I think I'll buy it. Thanks for the video. I'm coming from a Saeco Gran series but it broke, so there ya go.
I'm looking at this and Gaggio. Have Nespresso now but too expensive and machine gets dirty faster using the refill caps and the red light is one more frequent.
My coffee is only heating up to 160 degrees F, but online says the coffee should be at around 194-205. Is there a way to make the water hotter, besides using the machine's basic 3 levels of hotness? Cuz technically, I feel like this coffee maker is causing our coffees to not be the best they could be.
Thank you for this review. How are the straight espresso shots? Do they taste as good as the ones from coffee houses? In my opinion this is the most important factor when purchasing an espresso maker.
If you want to make espresso only I'd get a Rancilio Silvia for the same amount of money with a good grinder like the rocky also made by Rancilio. It's a semi automatic machine but super automatic coffee machines in general are good but they can't be fine tuned the way a semi automatic with a good grinder can. Yes between that and the grinder, tamper, froth pitcher and other starter accessories and knock box you can be decently invested but once you learn how to dial your shots in properly the possibilities are endless and can make decent milk drinks as well. And this is coming from someone who had an $1800 Miele superautomatic and traded in for a semi automatic heat exchanger...
@@jhomrich89 That was a very good decision you made. I’m in the same situation. I had the Phillips 4300 Superautomatic. All it did was make sour espresso no matter which grinder adjustments I made, and I tried the most recommended coffee , Lavazza Super Cremona.I then went with the Breville Barista Pro and the espresso shots are light years better. Perhaps one day I will change to a machine with a 58mm ports filter but as for now I am very satisfied.
Did you buy the extended warranty curious how much they charge you because it's probably a good idea cuz if anything ever happened to it looks like it's pretty sophisticated
I’m curious if you (and others) are using espresso beans with the built-in grinder to make a cup of coffee via the “Coffee” button or using coffee grounds in the pass-through container?
Good review. Thought it was strange that you have to dump out the water each time after you get the machine going. Secondly, I thought you can make a large cup of coffee by pressing twice, but unsure.
Hi, I purchased Philips 3200 Lattego few days ago. I have set the temperature to maximum however milk coffee (latte ,cappuccino) are not coming hot. They are luke warm. Is this how it is in this coffee machine? Or I got a defective one?
Did you notice that when pressing the "coffee" button, the coffee comes out as a lighter brown instead of black? I like to drink black, strong coffee and I'm struggling to get this machine to make that. FYI - I just got the machine so maybe it takes some time to adjust?
@@Hunter-cb7rn thank you for your reply. This is a serious question and issue that I’m trying to work through and while I can appreciate good humor I do not think this is the correct forum. Has anyone else experienced issues using the “coffee” button on this machine? I look forward to continuing the discussion
Question for you- when you make a regular cup of coffee, do you ever notice any clear water coming out towards middle and the end of the brew ? Ok fine one more question- can you adjust amount of the regular coffee being brewed.
I need to ask. How long from the time you first set it up until you got great shots? I just got mine and my first ones were like dishwater and I read now that you need to pull between 100-150 shots before it "settles in". Did you know this when you made your video? If you did, why didn't you mention it? What settings do you use for your drinks? I want to like my new machine but am getting skeptical.
Did u consider the 2200 since only the two main drinks you make is espresso and cappuccino? Also find it weird it pours milk first, where as juras and delonghi are opposite.
I bought 4300 model after watching this video, this machine good but the milk container is shit, they have to come with a good solution, couple of time accidently milk container fell in the fridge which caused a mess a big mess. The container cover is just sitting on top of it and comes off all the time some time fell into it inside the milk LOL
some reviewer reported that the foaming with this model was not up to expectation especially for the cappuccino. I wonder if the literature has the option to get the milk frother attachment as well. Will it work with this model?
We have had this machine for over a year, and love it. Weird request! Recently I have noticed an electrical buzz noise coming from ours, not sure if that’s new or if we should be concerned. Could you put your ear to the top part of the machine where the ventilation grate is on the side that the water tank is and tell me if you hear like a high pitch humming electrical noise? I know it’s weird, but want to get it fixed if it’s a problem. Also, perhaps a little more information on the brew group and the maintenance involved would have been nice to talk about.
@@shinynewgadget5163 so you do hear a electrical buzzing when the machine is off, or it’s just noisy when it’s on or running? Appreciate the feedback. Trying to determine if we should send ours in for warranty work.
Great Video. Mine broke - kind of my fault though - I found the internals very hard to deal with and I busted it. It was a nice machine while I had it though. The milk frother was pretty cool. :(
What coffe bean beand do you facour for cappuchino or coffe. Thanks And the manual says not to use espresso beans as it can damage the grinder, how can it then make espresso ? :)
