I having been trying to find myself careerwise and am finally studying environmental epidemiology. I love what am learning and watching this video makes me feel that i made a right decision. thanks you guys for presenting the different perspectives of public health.
I find this interesting and challenging. I was a surgical technologist then worked in Information Systems for year, which has paid well but really isn't what I would call fun or gives you the feeling of helping people.
I am studying public health but I don't have a passion for it, I am going into international development. Helping the poorest of the poor. I figured public health would intersect with development. I am more interested in community and rural development. How do you create impact in extremely poor and vulnerable communities? I will say that I find it interesting that this video is primarily US based only. I am sure public health is not just an american issue, and I would think it be even more important in countries that are far poorer than the US, with far more health risks.
A friend of mine has a sister with a masters degree in public health. she has been looking for a job for a while now. what suggestions do you have that can help her get a job ?
I work in public health but came to it late in my career path. My personal prejudice (and I use that word deliberately) is that there are too many people in public health who came there straight from school. Working for a few years in the public sector with a for-profit or non-profit healthcare organization and THEN getting your MPH is a better idea. Note I said personal prejudice! So take my advice with a grain of salt.
Roguemember you a special kind of stupid.... Ever heard of getting good grades and getting almost full rides just based off of that and also getting financial aid. People like you who just make excuses for not trying and just cry, hoping people will feel bad for you is so annoying. Grow up, nothing in life comes easy, if you want something don't be a whinny child, go out and work for it...
