IS A MK7.5 GOLF R REALLY WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY?

Main things I love about the 7.5 is the virtual cockpit and headunit. You can retrofit them into the normal 7 but it's not cheap

Honestly the 7.5 is spot on.. The interior and entertainment system is perfect. Currently have a GTD MK7.5 and I would happily upgrade the car for a 7.5 and get it staged.

I got a manual lapiz blue 7.5 R, absolutely love it, its the perfect car for me once the stage 1 tune went on

I absolutely LOVE my 2018 MK7.5 "R" DSG 3 door which I've owned from New and I've not been swayed by the New MK8 Golf R so it's here to stay.

I have an oryx white pearl mk7 Golf R and I absolutely love it. I think the front ends look way better on the 7's, but I like the bumper/diffuser area on the 7.5 more. Great content. New subscriber from across the pond!

Hi Calvin for the second video running there is an issue with the mic you attach to your t-shirt as it doesn't work all the time (no audio in right ear), this video was around 4.30 to 8.40. It is a shame as I really enjoy your videos (apart from the bad jokes), many thanks.

I have never liked Euro cars even tho I’m from the UK. My mates rate them but I’ve always loved fords and JDM classics. In 2021 I bought a B8 VW Passat out of necessity for needing a quality family car. FUCK ME I am blown away by the VW experience! I am constantly watching VW content on RU-vid which is something I have dissmissed incredibly quickly in the past. But now I’m trying to weigh up the pro’s and con’s of getting a Golf R over a Golf GTI 🤷‍♂️. 3 months ago I was lusting over JDM STI’s! Now I am consuming Volkswagen content like smarties. Love the channel Calvin and in the past I would have scrolled past your German car content but this is a great insight into the 7.5R. Peace and love baby.

The MK7R is one of the best all rounders just does everything well can be daily drive or drop the kids off to school then go for a blast only problem is people over mod these cars 500bhp is the limit for piston rings to crack Turbo Technics V4 0r V5 turbo is nuts so quick for little 2 litre engine just know that engine is strong but like any car engine can go bang at any time when crazy Torque

I have the 7.5 r estate, best car purchase I've made. Couldn't bring myself to get a mk 8 though. I find the estate look nicer overall imo

i think an R is not worth it over a GTI tbh if you are not concerned with topspeed. for daily use if you want a cool fast hothatch, the GTI is perfect and gives you over 90% of what the R gives for a good chunk less money.

I was stuck between the choice of one of these and an M140i and I picked the Beemer as I just found it more entertaining and sounded better. The golfs are awesome and quicker 99.9 percent of the time but I thought it was a little dull to drive and also more money to run/buy and insure (at least it was for me anyway) but I certainly wouldn't be disappointed with the golf.

MK8 R is my dream car. Waiting for the day when I can afford one. 😭

I love my mk7.5 so much. I’ve got a lapiz blue DSG 18 plate. I bought it for 23.2k in Jan 2021 25k miles on it and in great condition… Today, webuyanycar are offering me 25.5k. Even 2.3k profit having had the car for 6 months cannot make me sell this car… it is like you say, the tikka masala of all performance cars. 👌

Mk7 R looks so much better from the outside imo, love the way they rear bumper flairs out at the bottom, front vents look better too and side skirts, mk7.5 looks too business class, where as the mk7 looks more boy racer and sporty

I own the original pop and bang hot hatchback, an Alfasud Ti nutter bastard, and it rinsed a Mk7.5 GTi over 10 miles. The look on the guy's face was a picture. Half the weight, half the power makes it an equal fight, except for the smell of burning oil at 106mph 😂
