Thinking about a robotic pool cleaner? We recently purchased the MAYTRONICS Dolphin E10 pool cleaner. This is a review from opening the box to underwater footage of the robotic pool cleaner at work.
We have one of these and it is the bomb!!! I love love it!! It does a fantastic job!! We bought the ultra fine filter and it picks up everything!! I haven't had to scrub my walls, except for above the water line. I just stretch (straighten out) the cord before each use. I wash the filter and machine (inside and out) after each use. This is our third year and it is still performing perfectly!! Just sit back and watch it vaccum!! Best money spent!!
DEAR MAYTRONICS CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ ABOUT THEIR SERVICING AND PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE SCAM: Maytronics will not sell you the carbon brushes for the main DC pump motor of their robots. This means that as a consumer you CANNOT prevent the main pump motor from failing after a few years. A carbon brush is a $10 consumable part to keep a DC motor running. This means that when you pay for a “service” they do not exercise due diligence and replace the carbon brushes while inside the control box. This means that after a few years the robot will cease working no matter what you do. THEY WILL however sell you an entire new motor, or an entire new robot... Buyer beware. You can buy brushes for your ryobi angle grinder, your Makita drop saw, your cars internal blower fan, you can buy them from the manufacturer for just about ANY dc motor, but Maytronics refuse to sell the brushes, and will only sell (via the service reps) you the diagnostics fee, an entire new motor and replacement costs. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Please ask why these were not replaced ANY time your robot is serviced. Absolutely DISGUSTING business practice. If this isn’t planned obsolescence then what is!? They will also make excuses that their system is modular unlike the competition somehow justifying this scam. They are happy to sell you an entire new robot for 2.5k, or the entire assembly, when a $10 consumable part would very likely keep the motor going and irrespective should be available for sale via the service reps and should be replaced ANY time the motor box is opened for paying customers.
@@VMH. I suppose it depends on how dirty your pool is. We had a salt water system which kept our pool pristine. We also didn't have trees near our pool so didn't get many leaves or debris in it. I washed our filters and baskets out every time I cleaned the pool so never found the need to replace the filters. Having said that, we only had our pool or used the vacuum for three seasons. Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for this review! I got one . It just came in today. I love it so much already! All this time, 6 years of having an intex/Coleman pool, I was believing everything I was seeing that these cleaners couldn’t be used in a soft sided pool. Boy are they wrong and man I sure wish I would have gotten one years ago ! Would have saved me so much time and frustration!
I just received it now Looks beautiful and has best function what I need. Swibler is a quite important device to avoid cable twist. Another merit is a voltage of power supply. It's 110~250 free voltage which is no need a voltage trance device. Only I wonder that a digital switch on power supply for power on/off. It seems be week, and impossible to repair by myself if it's breakdown.
I am SO glad you reviewed this! We have the exact same pool and same size. Ours is above ground w a deck and I am sick of vacuuming ! I was gonna get a Dolphin but hadn't seen a review of it in this type of pool. I also wish we had sunk our pool too, maybe we will next year! Love it! I have a question though, have you installed an after marked skimmer, I hate the skimmer it came with, it just falls off when there's a lot of swimmer and turbulence! And I also have to hood my vacuum into it and that's a real pain. Anyway great job!! P.S. I see you got b;each spots too from the chlorine bomb that lied and said it would not run the liner. We mixed and brushed as we distributed it but still got spots. Such a bummer!
Suzanne Taylor thank you for the comment! We love our dolphin. Vacuuming is a pain in the butt, so now it’s simple. We haven’t bought a skimmer yet. We’ve looked, but we aren’t for sure which one to get if we do. Right now we just use a handheld skimmer/net on a pole.
It good an does clean ok but the downside to it once the cable get in knots its very hard to keep the cord / cable straight , it always gets tangled, I believe it should of had an swivel adapter at the bottom of the cord to prevent it tangling
Totally agree on that one. Every second use, we stretch the cord out and let it unwind. It would be nice if it didn’t do that, but it’s still way better than vacuuming it ourselves. Lol
John Vargas I’m not sure the part number. Just google “ultra fine filter” for the Dolphin and it should come up. That’s all we did when we bought it. Our Dolphin is working great still.
We actually are planning on doing that in June actually. We wanted to have it a year and then come back and address the good and any bad that we may have seen.
How do you think it would do on a bumpy bottom? Our AGP has had settling in the sand base causing a few ridges, worst is probably 2" high, and small potholes. I wouldn't want to make the investment only to have this thing get stuck all the time.
I’m guessing it would do well, but I can understand why you would be apprehensive about spending that much. We still love ours. We recently got a new filter and it works even better than when we first got it. Best money we’ve spent on our pool because we all hate vacuuming. 😂
My brother just gave me his. He is getting rid of his pool because his kids are grown and it isn't getting used, and he is facing a third liner replacement due to leaks. Is it a thing that this vacuum is rough on vinyl liners?
Ours hasn’t been rough at all. So not sure what would cause that to happen. We love ours. We have a wireless one we are trying out for a company right now, but it has a few kinks. But I believe it will be good once those kinks are gone.
@@TheTrentTribe I'm using it right now. It's fantastic! My brother believes that his pool was installed incorrectly. He may be right. This thing is legit!
Hey. The bottom parts of the walls it does good. The rest we brush. It climbs the wall almost all the way to the top, but it begins to float as it starts up the wall.
tasmedic it would get close to that waterline. If it’s like ours, it comes within a few inches of it. Around steps you will probably have to do a little work, but it’s still worth it.
I have a few questions Does it kiss you good night and then ask you for allowance? Does it handle having to work consistently without being too demanding?
Why does the spin bar not spin on yours? Also your shock sitting on bottom is burning your liner. You'll be replacing all the time this route but why? Get rapid dissolve mix in by jet
Yes that’s normal. You can start it again if necessary. So far we’ve tried newer ones that are cordless, which we’d love to workout, but none have been more dependable than this one.
Hello, I want to do it just like you. But I have one question: is the pool stable if I push myself off the edge? And if not, do you think it would be a good idea to use the space around the pool and put sand in it, only leavin some space for the pool pump so it would be more like a stone pool. At least in my theory xD Thanks for an answer! Ben
Ben k hey! Ours is stable as is. I’m not sure I would put sand around the pool. Ours has held up well so far the way we did it. But you may think of some cooler ways of doing it than we did. Hope you enjoy yours.
It held up good the full season last year. We haven’t finished getting our pool ready so far this year, but we should have it ready in a week. So I’m sure about the vacuum at this point. I’ll try to remember to update you.
If you leave it in the pool for a couple of cycles it can. We take the cord between each cycle we do and stretch it out and roll it up. As long as you do that, it does well. I think the cord is about 40 feet long.
I’m not sure. Ours will ride up like it’s doing wheelies when it takes off and occasionally throughout the cleaning process. But for the most part stays down. Maybe contact the company? Ours worked well our entire first season. So glad too, we hated vacuuming. Lol
It does. If it’s bad it will take several runs to do it. We are testing a new one out soon. Hopefully next week. It’s wireless and is supposed to track better than this one. We like this one, but the wire can get tangled if you don’t fix it each time. It also doesn’t track where it goes. But it’s still a good one. We have really enjoyed it.
@@TheTrentTribe thanks for the fast reply, i have recently bought a house with a 9x5 swimming pool (Spain) so i am new to the world of pool cleaning. apart from occasional self-brushing the steps for example, can you clean a pool yourself completely without the need of a pool guy?
@@manoahvanderwolf3259 for sure. A pool that size shouldn’t take you ten minutes a day during the season. We take about 15 minutes a day. We primarily do the robot vacuum each day (sometimes more) and shock it when needed as well as run the filter each day. Hope you enjoy your pool.
have a dolphin robot (Cosmos 30) and when it finishes cleaning and when I take it out of the bottom all the dirt falls out of it. How to prevent? Somebody pleeeease help :D
Aaron Torres my pool is 32’. It covers it great. I think the cord is 40’ or so, but even still, just set your control box more in the middle of where your pool sits.
We clean each day. We spend about fifteen minutes each morning and then let the robot do its thing for an hour. If we have storms we will let the robot go through twice or whatever is needed that day.
I guess another question would be is having an electrical device in a pool of water safe period. Lol In this case, it’s made for the job it’s doing. But, we don’t get in when it’s working, except for the video you see here. Would make for some exciting videos though. 😜😂
Lol. Definitely didn’t get it off eBay. It’s been worth the $500 though. It’s still going strong. I would like to have one without the cord though, like a battery powered or something.
